Weekends

Just 35 minutes directly East from Madison is Weekends: Fun Home Furnishings for Relaxed Living, Old and New. Weekends is an independent business located inside Waterloo Antiques Mall, our original quest. While perusing the antiques, I saw Weekends’ welcoming sign and decided to stop in. I was in for a treat! The large, sunny room has been configured to carefully designed, staged living spaces. Each area temptingly highlights various home goods for purchase. The mix of old and new runs throughout the store and a highlight are the cleverly upcycled furniture pieces– many upolstered in fun fabrics and/​or creatively painted/​refinished. I was delighted by how many offerings were locally or regionally made. While the upcycling vibe is huge and 2^nd hand is welcome in this gorgeous space, the entire shop feels squeaky clean and is a joy to explore. (Waterloo Antiques Mall and Weekends are easily the cleanest stores of their kind I’ve ever visited.) My friends and I were left to browse independently but also treated in a friendly manner. Both businesses in the historic factory building are certainly worth a day trip and thorough perusal. Make sure you travel in an empty vehicle because you’re bound to find something here– well chosen, unique and reasonably priced.
