Early On Oakland – Great Start Collaborative

Ok, read Wanda’s first review, she really covers the bases with the program explanation. My twins were born early and as residents of Oakland Co, we qualified for the Great Start program. I have really enjoyed the benefits. My hubby and mother and I attended a Parenting workshop last year before the twins were 1, and learned a lot about what to expect and how to encourage language development & growth. Then, I signed up for a playgroup, which was wonderful! It was well structured, had a music and parachute component, art projects, texture projects and free play as well. I’ve also attended the Toddlers & Tantrums seminar and one of the ones on Language. I feel that having twins, I will be dealing with problems on both these topics soon.
They also provide fun picnic activities at local parks, but those are first come, first serve, so they book up quickly.
If you have a child that qualifies for the Great Start Collaborative, it is a very useful resource for parents and caregivers.

Had a better experience with parent educator, Ms. Psenka, this week. Chatty and friendly, which was nice. Free washable fingerpaints were handed out for the kids to take home.
