Working in downtown Waterbury, and having to park in the Bank St parking garage, getting to and from lunch places are kind of an annoyance. Not to fear! Shamrock’s is right down the road and easy to get to in a jam. My father and I frequent this place about 1 – 2 times a month when I have an extended lunch on Friday’s.(I have also been here one time with a group of friends). I will say the service during the lunch hours are on POINT. Always attentive, and always getting it right! The food is always delicious but unfortunately the last time my dad and I came, the french onion soup was terrible. It’s always delicious and I always talk so highly of it, but this time it seemed like maybe they had forgotten an ingredient, it was definitely missing something. Everything else was delicious though! The one time I came here with friends was good, but the service was a little so-so. I feel like the waitress was trying super hard to be friendly but was overdoing it to the point where we could tell she just wanted a nice tip from us. The food came out a little slow, although it was delicious. The part that annoyed us was another huge group came in about 45 minutes after us, and once they did she completely ditched us. We all were done and asked for the check and waited about 25 – 30 minutes for her to bring it. After leaving, we realized she charged us twice, and while we were there she charged the wrong cards the wrong amounts leading us to have to exchange money. It’s an honest mistake, but given the time it took to wait for the bill, it was just an annoyance at that point. I definitely would recommend Shamrock’s to anybody looking for a nice atmosphere and great food. You can’t go wrong!

Nestled into a little cove practically under the freeway is this unassuming(with the upmost respect) dive bar. Complete with scenery of tractor trailers, cars entering and exiting the highway and an extremely large patio. I was pleasantly surprised with the welcoming feel of the bar overall. Live music was a nice touch, comfortable and ample setting at the bar to watch the game and beautiful wood floors added to the ambiance. I most appreciated the mixed crowd here, and how it felt like a safe little heaven in a rather run down industrial zone. I foresee many more vodka sodas getting thrown back here in my future.

Consistently underwhelmed. Been here over 10 times and the food gets worse and worse. Menu never changes and nothing tastes fresh. Drinks and bartenders are never an issue, but this place started out promising, but never evolved or improved. Becomes a 50+ singles dance club on the weekends.

The good. The food was ok. My daughters sandwich bun was still frozen The bad. The owner is rude. Had reservations for 9 people arrived at 7:30. Didn’t get our food till 10:15. And all this on a Tuesday eve. They knew it was going to be a busy evening and did not have extre waitresses. When I asked to speak to the owner 21⁄2 hrs into our reservation he was rude and argumentative. Took 50 off my bill and made me feel like that. Was a big deal. Very very unhappy. Will never return. Buyer beware. Had many pool tell me they had similar experiences

Been there a few times(I like to give restaurants a chance) I will admit the bar is a nice sports bar themed, even though they say there Irish, but you can put makeup on a pig and its still a pig. food is bland and pricey first each time I went in there was never someone to greet me and I would stand around for 5 – 10 minutes until I get greeted by a confused waitress. one time on at 2:00 I came in for lunch and the waitress only came out to take my order and bring my food the whole time I was alone in the dining room no customers waitress or bartenders just me eating bland small wings and needing a drink. FYI that was the last time I went back

Stopped in on a Tuesday between traveling for business and was a little worried at how dead it seemed for 12PM. It did end up picking up some, but it is also a good-sized space. The staff was friendly and fairly attentive. I had the buffalo chicken wrap, which came out in a reasonable amount of time. There was a generous serving of chicken in the wrap, and the tenders were cooked well with a quality buffalo sauce. They accommodated the substitutions/alterations I wanted to make to the order which is always a welcome sign. I didn’t have the wings, but I have to admit they looked good while others enjoyed them. Overall was an above average lunch, I would stop here again while in town.

Don’t even bother. You set up a reservation for 50 people and they promise you certain tables and when you get there ¾ of the space you were promised is taken by people that«just got their food». Complete B.S. All they do is lie to get your business. Don’t trust them. Take ur business elsewhere. And to those that think we just made a reservation. No we prepaid for $ 1000 worth of food and booze and they still treat us like crap. If I could give them zero stars I would.

LOVETHISPLACE!!! Great menu with tons of options. The Blarney Fries and Eggplant Fries are excellent apps. Incredible burgers, lots of yummy Irish favorites too, like Shepard’s Pie, and Fish n Chips. Large and fun, with big screen TV’s showing sports, but without feeling like too much of a sports bar. Always lots of laughter! The staff is excellent, and they even have great cover bands on the weekends. Weather you’re 21 or 61; you’ll feel comfortable, and have a great time!

This is a solid 4 star sports bar. Good food, good atmosphere, and nice people. Their beer prices are reasonable and they offer cheap pitchers. We eat/drink here often and have never had a bad experience.

The good-the food was good and the staff was friendly and attentive. The bad-we were sitting at the outside patio and all the smokers came out and were smoking right next to us, it was so disgusting. I wish they would have a separate smoking section around the corner of the building instead of where people are eating.

Atmosphere is nice. Food is horrible. Boneless wings couldn’t even cut with a knife. Straight rubber. Nachos were ok. Needs to improve food

Arrived at 4pm on Sunday the 31st of May, 2015 for dinner before a show at the Palace Theater. Very«pubby» atmosphere. Our server was great. I had corn beef and potato fritters which were tremendous. The onion soup was among, and maybe the best, I have ever had. It was dark, rich and full of onions. My main course was the veal and beef meatloaf with«Irish» cheese(super thick) on top with Guiness gravy… outrageous. Came with mashed potatoes and sauteed«garlicky» spinach, both very well prepared. Other three diners had mac n cheese, fish n chips and a barbeque burger. All were very pleased. I tried all of the offerings and everything was classically prepared and very tasty. Great beer batter onion rings too. Pricing was very low considering size of portions. Not to say that things were expensive either. Pricing was actually very low, but portions were huge. Definitely a keeper!!!

This is one of those good-news-bad-news places. Had lunch here at midday, midweek. Lots of seating and free parking, centrally located downtown. Clean, very fast and professional table service. Odd combination of Irish stuff and sports. Not too loud. Open and airy. Order the fried fish and onion soup. The soup is good, lots of it and flavorful although a tad much on the cheese other than that small aside, it is a good bowl of soup. The fried fish was served batter and there is more batter than fish and the fish there is, was not seasoned before it was battered. The plate was served with slightly burned batter which no on except me seemed to notice, of course they weren’t paying for it or eating it. The fries are very good and I was given enough for three people. The coleslaw is good as well. If I’m ever back that way, I’d eat there again but will probably stick to the burgers.

This is one of my favorite places in Waterbury. This gem is kind of hidden but right off of 84– not exactly easy on/easy off but worth the trip. First the seating plan is great, however lacks booths. The booths that they do have are hard wood and not cushioned. I have never sat at the bar– but the bar is a wonderful addition in the back of the restaurant. There is live music on Saturday nights and the atmosphere of the restaurant can become loud at times. If you don’t like to scream towards one another during dinner go earlier in the day. The food is great. I recently went on an anniversary dinner and my fiancé had our waitress put a ring in my dessert. The staff is great and are helpful with any recommendations. The one dish I would not get again is the French onion soup. I felt that it was too sweet. Five stars!

It’s been over a year since my last visit to the Shamrock Bar & Grill. Went last night with a buddy who lives in Waterbury. We ordered the«Shamrock Sticks» for an appetizer — mozzarella sticks served with marinara sauce. Ah, they were«ok», but not worth the eight bucks they charged us(five mozzarella sticks). I went with the Fish & Chips for my meal, my buddy ordered a bacon burger. Again, thought my meal was«ok», but honestly felt that I was short changed with the portions on the plate. Three small pieces of battered fish, a few french fries and a tiny amount of coleslaw for 12 bucks. My buddy liked his burger, thought it was tasty. That’s about all I can say about the Shamrock Bar and Grill at this time. It’s local for me, so I’m sure I’ll drop in another time. If it wasn’t local, don’t think I would bother though.
