The Connecticut Academy of Performing Arts founded in 1968 by Miss Elaine, former owner of the Miss Elaine Dance Studios, is the first studio in the area to provide a complete theatre curriculum in DANCE, VOICE, and ACTING.
History
Established in 1963.
A graduate of Wilby High School in Waterbury, CT, Miss Elaine studied dance extensively in New York City with teachers such as Peter Genaro, Arleigh Peterson and Phil Black, and was a graduate of the John Robert Powers School of Modeling. She established Miss Elaine Dance Studios in Waterbury, Wolcott, Shelton, Cheshire and Thomaston, and was the Founder and director of the Connecticut Academy of Performing arts for 40 years. She was one of the first studios to incorporate Dance, Voice and Acting into the students’ curriculum. In addition, she was the first to offer «Street Dancing» in Waterbury.
