History

Established in 2003.

Chef Point Café was started as in idea nearly 2 years before the business materialized. Paula and Franson successfully acquired a bank loan on January 1, 2003, completed construction and opened their facility in April of the same year. The restaurant grew at a much faster rate than expected. Within the first four months they had to redesign the layout of the facility to add more space to the restaurant and reduce the convenience store square footage. By early 2004 they again had to redesign the facility to increase the size of the restaurant.

Much of Chef Point’s growth has come from the local media releasing the secrets of the incredible 5 Star Food in a gas station! Channel 11 has aired five stories and Channel 5 has aired two stories, CNBC picked up the story and ran it nationwide, Channel 8 aired a story through the «Why Guy», the radio station 820AM and the Kitchen Sisters form NRP have done interviews with the couple, and the Star Telegram has released eight articles. Would you believe that an aeronautics student could be featured in Paula Dean’s Magazine? The customers and employees of Chef Point Café do. But, we know him as Franson Nwaeze. He originally came to the United States to study aeronautics, but food was his true destiny. Franson’s passion for food stems from a bet a co-​worker set when he came to America in 1986. The original bet was that Franson could not work in a restaurant for more than 2 weeks. Franson succeed when no one thought it would be possible. While working at the restaurant, he began studying the inner workings of the food preparation; from there he was hooked. He began his career as a chef, without what most would call formal training. He worked as an Executive chef shortly thereafter. Franson has worked in country clubs and many high end establishments such as Romano’s Macaroni Grill.

In 2003, alongside his supporting wife, Paula, he opened Chef Point Café. It is not your ordinary restaurant, the special attribute lies in
