Fantastic bagels and bagel sandwiches. Highly recommend. I had a roast beef and blt sandwich on a plain bagel with lettuce and tomatoes and it was awesome!

From the moment I made a hairpin left turn across Rt. 31 to enter the rather awkwardly placed parking lot, I sensed that Muhuisen’s Bagel & Deli was going to be a disappointment. However, given that the bagel shop had 4-star ratings on Unilocal,I decided to try it nonetheless. Walking in, my suspicions were immediately confirmed as I found a bagel shop in a state of what I can only describe as cluttered chaos. «Cluttered» referring to the counters, which were strewn with various edible and non-edible items(bagels, pastries, newspapers, etc.) just lying out there in the open. «Chaos» referring to the disorganized state of affairs they employees appeared to be operating in. Lots of people running around frantically behind the counter preparing meals and it was very unclear how to place an order. Also, lots of antsy customers waiting for their food. Eventually, I was called upon by a very pleasant and patient member of the staff and ordered a grilled chicken sandwich on a rye bagel. Thankfully, I received one of the bagels in a basket behind the counter rather than one of the castaways lying out in the open for all to see. While waiting for my sandwich, I happened to glance at the grill area where it was being prepared. It was not a pretty sight and the grill looked like it hadn’t been scrubbed clean in a while. Considering the kitchen is in plain sight for all customers to see, I was kind of amazed that it was not in better shape. That was strike one for me. Inspecting the place further, I noted several flies buzzing around the inside, presumably because a member of the staff had left the doors propped open. This did not help my already soured appetite and was a mental strike two. I also happened to notice the various salads(cole slaw, macaroni, potato, etc.) chilling in the cooler case and they did not appear freshly made. While I did not order any of the above, so can’t confirm my suspicions, this did not help my already waning confidence in the quality of the food here. That’s strike three in my book. Overall, the bagel sandwich was good enough and relatively cheap, but I could not shake my concern about the cleanliness of the establishment. In addition, I specifically requested that my sandwich be wrapped and bagged(as I was intending on eating it later for lunch during a hike). Instead, I received an unwrapped sandwich in a Styrofoam container, which required me to eat it well in advance of my preferred lunch time. All in all, I would not consider patronizing this place again because of this poor experience. As a side note, I would recommend that the owners put up a «No shirt, no shoes, no service» sign or something of the like. I was rather put off when I saw one of the other patrons walk in without shoes on. Call me old-fashioned, but this is a restaurant, not a beach, and that is downright unsanitary.

Great variety of bagels and sandwiches. Good coffee. Delicious bagels, friendly and fast service. Place to eat outside for a quick road stop. Definitely a better choice than Dunkin Donuts.

Best and only place to get a great bagel in Washington. Just make sure that if you place an order for pick up, that you double check your order before leaving the building. Bottom line — Delicious food, and great staff… sure not to disappoint!

This place had good food, not bad, and not exemplary. It’s good for takeout because the interior is not suitable for dining(there is one small table). However, it is a bit awkward to park your car outside, making a visit a bit challenging. The staff was eager to serve but we were there during a slow time.

Bagels and breakfast sandwiches are great! The sandwiches were always good until they opened the bakery. The rolls I believe are now the stale ones that couldn’t sell at the bakery. There aren’t enough condiments in the world to make the stale bread edible!

This place is fantastic. Outside wonderful food, the family is deeply invested in the community. The ONLY downfall is parking.

This review is for bagels only. I have not tried their sandwiches. Bagels are by far, the best I’ve had in nj. We go on the weekends and place is always packed. I brought them to a few functions and people always ask me where I got them. The place is family owned and they are always giving back to community. During hurricane sandy, most of our town was without power. I remember them giving out food and hot drinks for free. Best gem of Washington!

The best bagels in town, period. Maybe the entire state. They are chewy on the outside and soft on the inside.

I consider myself something of a bagel expert(as evidenced by my… er… curvy female figure?) and these are honest to God the best bagels I’ve ever had. And yes, I have tasted the salt bagels that sing their siren song to me from the steamy bagel shops of Manhattan. I have partaken of the small, golden bagels from the multitude of reputable vendors of Brick Lane, London. I have feasted upon the magical, toasty wares of the Bagel Unicorn, who visited me one night as I slumbered and whisked me away to the very Bagel Tree of legend, which sits atop Mount Olympus and to which safe passage cannot be guaranteed without sacrifice. But seriously, these are some good bagels. Really chewy and a tiny bit crisp on the outside, with a soft, fragrant inside. Their sandwiches are nothing to cough at either.

Good bagels and bagel sandwiches, they frequently screw up my order so you better check before leaving to make sure they got it right. The super cinnamon raisin and french toast bagels are excellent, and the prices are right.

I can only review the bagels as that is all that I have tried and they are quite good. They also have a nice variety of flavors. I usually am in the shop on Sunday mornings and it is busy. Service is a bit slow. Maybe they need another server on duty. The wait can be long. Definitely worth a stop for the bagel aficionado. I would give the bagels a 4, but the service brings it down to a 3.
