Meant To Be Calligraphy

I am thrilled that we were referred to Michele and got to work with her. The calligraphy was gorgeous and she even shared tips on addressing etiquette (which we were pretty confused about before talking to her). Our invitations created quite the buzz among friends and family with the calligraphy being called out specifically by many. Aside from the great work, Michele was also fantastic at accommodating our quick turnaround request and a few changes along the way. We won’t hesitate to call on her for any future calligraphy needs or to recommend her to friends!

Working with Michele at Meant to Be was an absolute pleasure! She is so nice and responsive, and takes such pride and enthusiasm in producing beautiful calligraphy for your event needs. We used MTB to do the calligraphy for our wedding invitation envelopes. Additionally, Michele did the placecards for our rehearsal dinner, escort cards for our wedding, menu calligraphy for the wedding, table numbers for the wedding, and finally, she created a custom monogram for us that we digitized and had embroidered on our dinner napkins, and used on matchbooks etc. She has so many beautiful font styles to choose from that it was hard to pick just one, but we landed on Draper, which was elegant but also unique. She turned everything around in a timely manner, was responsive to emails, and I felt for the quality and service was 100% worth the cost, and a good value. I wish I had more projects coming up so I could enlist Michele’s beautiful work!

While I haven’t used Michelle’s calligraphy services, I did spent a lovely three and a half hours in her calligraphy class and am a huge fan. As an instructor, she is incredibly deliberate. Everything from the physical tools for calligraphy to the tea available to her (clever) puns was well planned and well thought out. She always had more than one way to help a struggling student and, impressively, no one in the eight person class remained frustrate for longer than it took Michelle to walk around and correct their arm position or fix their nib.
I hope to be able to take additional classes from Michelle in the future. I’d been looking for a calligraphy class in NoVa for years — so glad to have found Meant to Be.

I am so happy I signed up for this workshop. This was my first time taking a calligraphy class or workshop of any kind and it was exactly what I was looking for — insight on technique, modern calligraphy style, small class size, constructive feedback. As a first-​timer (I believe all 8 students were first-​timers), I thought I would be intimidated but Michele is friendly and personable and is a really great instructor. She breaks down the steps in meaningful ways to help you understand what you’re doing and how you go about doing it. 3.5 hours went by so much faster than I expected. Bonus: we get to take home our calligraphy supplies. :)

Of all the vendors I worked with for my October, 2013 wedding, Michele and Meant to Be Calligraphy was absolutely, without a doubt, my favorite. She offers up and amazing product, exemplary customer service, and just genuine good old fashioned business savvy.
I found her through a Google search, and didn’t even consider any other calligraphers for our wedding invitations. Her website was easy-​to-​use, and there was no confusion over pricing levels, timelines, etc. Her correspondence was quick, and everything was delivered on time (if not early) and exactly as promised.
She worked hard to find the perfect color of ink that would compliment my peacock teal color palette, and assured me that the ink was water-​resistant and smudge proof, which it definitely was. The quality of her work is top-​notch — I ooh’ed and aah’ed over the end product I received and simply was so excited to send out the invitations. I knew it was all worth it when several guests commented to me just how beautiful the calligraphy was and how they never wanted to throw away the invitations.
Her pricing structure is very clear, and there were no hidden charges. Although I went to her studio in Alexandria to drop-​off and pick-​up the envelopes, she kindly FedEx’d me some of the final ones that we had to make some changes to, which saved a trip.
Through it all, Michele was happy, friendly, and rolled with the changes when I had a couple of addresses or names I needed to change. I would recommend Michele and Meant to Be Calligraphy with 100% confidence.

Michele from Meant to Be recently did all of the calligraphy for my wedding invitations, and let me tell you, they came out beautifully. She even gave me advice on which style would work best to match my invitation, and also customized the ink color to the liner of my inner envelopes. She did a fantastic job and I would definitely recommend. Everything was done on time, and she was very responsive via email each time I had a question. Totally worth the money!

I am writing this review for service. I haven’t actually ordered my wedding invitations yet, but I called and Michelle was very friendly and very helpful to help me identify what my objective is –as far as wedding invitations, envelopes, RSVP cards, seating cards, etc.
Happy and friendly service is very hard to find these days…
