Get Up and Go Movers

We had such a wonderful move with get up and go movers in December when I had them pack our U-​PACK container so that we could move from DC to Utah. They were very patient and accommodating as i changed my moving date three times! They always responded to my texts really promptly. When they came, they were very punctual and professional, polite and kind. I was at first surprised that my movers were deaf but it turned out not to be a problem at all. We were able to communicate very well and the whole move was so peaceful and calm as it was quiet. My baby got to sleep the whole time until they finished the whole house and then did his room last. It was wonderful! We didn’t think they were going to be able to pack our 4 bedroom house in two hours but they did! The person I had talked to on the phone a few weeks before the move had suggested that if we broke down our Ikea furniture ourselves ahead of time and shrink wrap them it would make the move go a lot faster. Boy, was he ever right. I’ve never ever moved everything withing two hours! Best move ever! They even successfully moved a $ 6000 medical photo therapy booth carefully as we had instructed. They moved a heavy sofa bed that was tricky to get out of the basement too. Everything was packed so tightly into our U-​Pack container that they saved us some money by fitting everything in less space than we had planned! And when our container got to Utah 5 days later, everything was still really compactly packed, nothing moved and nothing broke and nothing got damaged! The photo therapy booth with all of the uv lights were intact! BEST MOVERS EVER! THANK YOU!!!

The guys from Get Up and Go Movers were amazing! They got everything I needed done in a quick, efficient, but careful way. At first, I was nervous moving all of my furniture and belongings out of my first apartment, but they put me at ease and took care of it all for me for a reasonable price. Not only did they perform my move, but they also unloaded my boyfriend’s belongings from a long-​term storage trailer just a few days later. One of the best businesses I have ever dealt with. We feared that working with two deaf guys would be challenging. Just the opposite. They listened, and communicated way better than most hearing folks. They paid attention to every detail, including helping us clients avoid meltdowns over perceived problems. They worked extremely hard and fast, and finished ahead of time. We found them through U-​Haul on K St in DC. They guys met us at our departure point. We were done early. When I got ready to plan for my first in town move, I asked friends for recommendations on DC movers. Several had used local movers, but only one actually recommended the company she used – Get Up and Go Movers. Between the personal recommendation and the positive online reviews, I went with Get Up and Go Movers and was not disappointed. Moving is such a stressful time and Get Up and Go Movers really helped alleviate some of the pain.
At first, I thought I would have to rent and drive my own truck, which I was not looking forward to. However, they did offer a moving truck for an additional cost and I jumped at the chance. One less thing for me to worry about and the price was fair considering what I would have paid for my own moving truck (considering rental fee, insurance, gas, sanity, etc.). The three movers arrived at the time we decided on and were friendly and personable. I was moving out of an English Basement, so it was pretty tricky to get some of the larger items out and they had to move out the back and through the upstairs apartment, with a few flights of stairs, not a simple move. My couch was going to be a problem getting out as it was a problem getting in and they worked HARD to get it out of the apartment. And no complaining, they saw the challenge and accepted and accomplished it!
The move-​in to the new place was much easier, it was ground level and they had me in within 30 minutes. I found the price to be completely fair. Definitely worth it!
On top of everything, all three of the movers were really nice and were a pleasure to be around. Makes a really stressful day a little easier and I appreciate that. I highly recommend Get Up and Go Movers and will definitely book them for any future moves!

This moving company is absolutely worth your money. I have used them twice in the past year and would absolutely use them again should the need arise.
My first move last year was into the DC area and I had booked Get Up and Go to unload the U-​Haul I was driving into town. However, while I had booked their service for a Saturday afternoon/​evening, I was delayed because of the poor moving company selection I chose at my departure location. Despite the last minute change, Get Up and Go was willing to come to my destination location in DC the following morning to help me unpack. When they arrived the next morning they were quick, professional, and an ease to work with.
I recently used Get Up and Go again for a move out of DC towards the Baltimore area. I unfortunately had to cancel and reschedule the move twice, but received only professional and courteous emails in response to my change request. When the move finally occurred, the movers arrived on time and were again very quick and professional when loading up my U-​Haul truck. The movers then followed me in their own vehicle (I paid the same rate for the travel time) to my new destination where they unloaded the vehicle in half the amount of time it took to pack it. The whole process occurred over lunch time, so I also provided pizza and drink for us to eat.
I have no negative comments to give about the company’s management or any of the movers that were employed for my two moves. This is a great moving company and you should definitely use them for any DC area move that you have.

Bar none, this is the best moving company EVER! Mark and his staff are prompt, professional and friendly. They don’t stop during the entire time that they are on site, and watching them fit an entire apartment into a 10′ truck is an amazing adventure. Most hardworking group of people I have ever met. We have used them on 5 moves in the DC area in the last 7 years, and we are sad that they could not help us move into NYC! This last move we also used their clean out service, which was also exceptional. I highly recommend Get UP and Go!

I first heard of Get Up and Go Movers on the Uhaul website and then I found them on Unilocal and contacted them via text. Daniel and Walter were my movers and they were extremely pleasant to work with. I was moving the contents of a 1 bedroom and the guys handled my furniture competently and carefully. Once all the furniture was moved in and in the right place, the guys helped me hang a heavy mirror. I had a very positive experience with Get Up and Go Movers and will recommend them to friends with moves in the future.

This was my first time with Get Up and Go Movers and I was more than impressed. Walter and Darko showed up, in slightly rainy conditions, and moved everything very quickly and dryly. When I need something moved again in the future, I will definitely go with Get Up and Go Movers again.

This moving company is legit — this is the second year that we’ve used them to move apartments, and I can’t say enough good things about them. The movers I’ve had the pleasure to meet have all been top notch. They’re hard working, never complain, are always pleasant and have a positive attitude. Not only that, but they’ve always handled our possessions with care, and the way in which they fit everything into the truck — like a huge game of Tetris — was pretty impressive. Moving can be an exhausting and stressful experience, but I’m so glad I went with this company, as it took a lot of that stress out of the picture. Our movers were so great that we offered to buy them lunch on top of everything for their hard work, but they were modest and politely declined.
I’m hoping that I won’t be moving locations for a while, but if I were, I’d use them again, and would absolutely recommend this company to friends and family in the area.

Moving day finally came, so of course it had to be the coldest day of the year. 3 – 5 inches of snow on the ground and windchill of about –2 degrees didn’t stop these guys. I booked them for 3 hours to move from one townhouse to another. I think I underestimated the amount of stuff I had, but they managed to fit it all in like tetris pieces into the truck. I’ve used these guys twice, and my friend has used them once I would recommend them to anyone. In the future, it would be great if they had their own truck. That way I wouldn’t have to deal with Uhaul nonsense. But I honestly cannot say enough good things about this company and their workers. Give them a try. You won’t regret it.

This was the second time I used this company and both times I was more than pleased at the crew’s professionalism, patience and most of all consistent speed! All they asked for as they made dozens of trips up and down stairs were glasses of ice water– they were cheerful and polite even through we went couple hours past schedule and had 2 different locations a hour away to unpack boxes. The guys were definitely through– they even packed our trashcan in their lightning fast back n forth trips up and down, lol! Couldn’t ask for better service!

Movers, Walter and Darko, were great! Showed up right on time, and got everything packed in an hour (fast!). They wrapped my desk and furniture nicely in the furniture pads I had from Uhaul, and clearly they had an organization system down pat. They asked specifically about fragile items and were careful about moving everything. I would certainly recommend them to others — a great price, too!

500 stars. The movers Daniel and Eric were great. Everything I was hoping for happened… arrived on time, made smart use of space in truck and then my storage unit, showed complete care to my items throughout, and they worked at a good clip. I was actually expecting it to take longer and for them to take one or two breaks, but nope. Like I said, 500 stars.

They came today and did an amazing job packing up our truck. Put it together like a giant puzzle — it was awesome. Cannot rate them highly enough! Definitely hire them if you are in the DC area.

We used these guys to move a 1BR down to a loading dock, into a van, and around the corner into a POD. The email quote was pretty fast and a fair price, and since we didn’t need movers with a truck, they seemed like the way to go.
They did show up about an hour later than we agreed, but they did not say they would still leave at the agreed-​upon time either. I would say that it did cost me about $ 16 or so because the van was sitting there for an hour without being utilized, due to them showing up at 10am instead of 9am.
They got to work fast though, and communicated pretty well either through lip reading or texts. They followed our packing instructions for the POD and finished in about the time we both thought it would take.
4 stars, and I would recommend if all you need are two hard workers to move your stuff.

So, ok, I’ll be the one to say it. Josh and Andrew showed up with their yellow notepad and I was like «whoa! How is this going to work?!» Deaf movers? We have to move some things into a Pod, some things onto a pickup and some things simply from upstairs to downstairs, and some things simply weren’t getting packed. In my ignorance, I was thinking this was a complicated move and this would only make it more challenging.
I’m embarrassed and straight up delighted to say I couldn’t have been more wrong. I’ve moved 13 times and have used a wide range of movers, from corporate to craigslist. These two were HANDS DOWN the best movers I’ve ever seen.
They showed up right on time and jumped right into loading. They kicked ass on our move. They were extremely gentle with possessions and stayed in constant communication with writing/​texting/​gestures on what was being moved where. Josh is a straight Tetris-​level Pod-​packing ninja and got an unreal amount of stuff in there. We ended up needing a second Pod, and they took off, grabbed another one, loaded it up, and STILL finished our move on schedule. Instead of dragging our dirty grill through the house, Andrew rolled it all the way around the block to the front. WOW, that’s service!
And the best part, we weren’t entirely ready (unsealed boxes, no cash on hand, etc.) and they just rolled with it… no stress, no irritation (and they had every right to be). And Josh had jokes! Seriously, these were the nicest guys, and part of me was a little sad to see them drive away.
I would unequivocally recommend Josh and Andrew to anyone needing movers. These are true professionals… experienced and just COOL, straight up and down.

The movers were nothing short of fantastic. They were friendly, efficient, careful and fast. I was beside myself with how get they were! And we were extremely fortunate that ‘Get Up and Go’ was available on short notice.
We are new to DC and had a super long few days/​drive and this team truly gave us a peace of mind and warm welcome :)
