This review is for the pharmacy, which I am happy to see is closing as of July 30. It started out fine but went downhill badly. The self-​serve kiosks’ touchscreens stopped working, the pharmacy became training grounds for pharmacy students I would guess were at the bottom of their class and the main pharmacist was…“unpleasant,” is what I’ll diplomatically say. They once made me wait, at the peak of my illness, for 45 minutes before telling me they were out of the prescription I’d come to pick up.

I’ve used this Walgreens for basic purchases, pharmacy, photo, and the health clinic. I’ve had good experiences in all these departments.
I’ve been to the health clinic twice. Both times saved me a trip to my primary care physician, who isn’t far but isn’t nearly as close as this Walgreens. Both times the wait was not long (10 to 20 minutes) which was surprising considering I was just walking in and did not have an appointment. The first time I received a whole slew of prescriptions to treat bronchitis, which did the trick wonderfully and were ready almost instantly after my appointment. The second time I ended up being referred to the emergency room, but I believe it was the correct choice and am glad I took their advice and went. I even received a phone call the following day to make sure I was alright, which was nice.
The photo department is solid and quick, but is a bit disorganized. Make sure you can remember the size of photos you ordered, especially if they’re not the standard 4×6 size, as that’s how they seem to organize them.
I have not had any problems with the pharmacy or their communications with my insurance or doctor.
Overall, a solid place for whatever you need.

As far as Walgreens/​drugstore
experiences go, this was by far the best.
I was especially impressed with the efficient pharmacy and the fact that they had my prescription in stock. Worth taking the extra stop on the metro to get it same day. The Cleveland park store a few blocks down seems to run out of stock of medicine/​antibiotics on the regular.
This is a huge two level store with everything you could possibly need. There’s even a full makeup counter and artist to help you find new products while you wait for your prescription!
The staff here were especially friendly and efficient. What more could you need for a normally mundane errand?

The pharmacy here is really amazing. The pharmacist is so personable and helpful. They go the extra mile to ensure your insurance and Dr’s office are properly communicating so things are filled I’m a timely manner. I can’t say enough good things.

I love this Walgreens so much that I came here when I was on vacation visiting my friends in D.C.
In my opinion, the LOOK Boutique is the greatest thing about this Walgreens! A fellow Unilocaler stated it’s like a Sephora inside of a conveniently located drug store and she couldn’t have been more correct!
The LOOK Boutique, located upstairs, is my dream come true. They have the best selection of Essie and OPI nail polish colors, and they even sell hard to come by (but excellent) brands such as Klorane, POP, and The Balm.
The rest of the store is very large and clean, and has a nice selection of food products downstairs. The staff are friendly, but not super helpful. They also have a parking garage, which is free. But please be aware, the garage is very small and the turn down into it is very narrow. My poor SUV always has a hard time getting in and out of the garage.
Too bad I no longer live in D.C. on Connecticut Ave. I miss my perfect local Walgreens.

This is a review for the health clinic.
I had to wait an hour to be seen even though I had an appointment. The women before m had to wait more than hour after her appointment time to be seen.
Part of the problem is that the computer system the nurse practitioners use is ridiculously slow and freezes up.
However, the main problem was that a walk-​in patient was in her examination room for over an hour. The administrative person who registers people did nothing to assist the nurse practitioner and did not keep the patients who had appointments informed of the delay. He said: «What do you want me to do? Tell her to get out of the examination room?» And I responded «A doctor’s office is able to rotate patients so that they’re seen on time. Why can’t you?»
I would have given one star, but the nurse practitioner did a good job of speeding me through when I told her to cut the small talk and get down to business because I had somewhere else to be.

Love this Walgreens in Van Ness. Big selection of the necessities in this two-​story spot. The staff is very friendly, and they’re okay with well-​behaved dogs in the store which is a huge plus for my husband and I who live nearby and always want to stop in to grab something when we’re walking our dog. Now we don’t have to take her home before heading back out to grab anything from milk to laundry detergent.
I’ve also had several photos printed here, and they’ve turned out perfectly each time. The store is big and always clean. Convenient location near Van Ness metro stop right on Connecticut.

I brought my daughter in for an ear infection. The nurse practitioner was thorough and prescribed the antibiotic my daughter needed to get better. On another visit my daughter was seen and she was tested for the Flu with a quick flu test and came back positive. The NP gave her anti flu medicine, my daughter recovered within 2 – 3 days. All my experiences here have been positive.

Walking in, I immediately thought I was going to have a pleasant experience here. This walgreens is large, well-​lit and clean. There’s a parking garage underneath accessible by Veazey with an elevator into the store.
But this review isn’t for the store. It’s for the health clinic. I needed a TB screen for a job and figured popping into a CVS/​Walgreens would be the fastest option. I checked online and this walgreens was nearby and offered an easy appointment scheduling Perfect. So I booked myself a an appt for 10am the following day. I showed up at 10am, checked in to the automated kiosk and sat down into the empty waiting area. Supposedly there was one person ahead of me who was currently being seen, but the overhead monitor assured me there were two providers and I was next in line so this should go quick.
Wrong. Apparently the appointments count for NOTHING. I sat in the waiting room for over an hour. Supposedly the avg visit is 15 – 20 minutes, so with two providers they should have been able to see 6 – 8 patients in that time. They saw 1.
According to the monitor, there were two people after me on the waiting list tho the waiting area was empty. Makes me wonder if they were walk-​in who gave up being seen and left.
Once I WAS seen by a provider, things went relatively quick, and she was apologetic for the long wait. When I came back a few days later for the reading, I was seen almost immediately, had the form I needed and was back out the door in less than 10 minutes. I was going to give them a 1-​star after the first visit, but the second visit went very smoothly so I gave them a 2^nd one.
Bottom line — you take your chances with this place. It’s cheap, but the convenience factor is incredibly variable.

This a review of their clinic. I came in for a simple vaccination. I figured it would be fast here– walk in walk out. You sign in on a touch screen kiosk. It was slow but not horrible. It told me there was one person ahead of me and I could expect a 15 – 20 min wait. No problem, I had 40 min until I had to meet family for dinner. I sit down and a guy asks me to fill out a paper form. 30 minutes later I get called in. I roll up my sleeve for the shot and the guy tells me– «oh you’re not getting a shot.» Nope– just more insurance stuff. 45 min later I’m still sitting here waiting behind someone. Don’t use the clinic here.

I wish there were more Walgreen in the DC area and less CVS. I always have great experiences here! It is so easy to get to via Van Ness Metro! I have shopped here, been to the clinic and to the pharmacy. You can also drive and there is free parking under the building for the store!
Shopping-​Someone is always there to help you find what you are looking for. There are two floors to this store. Groceries and general goods on the 1^st floor, cosmetics, pharmacy and clinic on the 2^nd floor. I have done most of my shopping on the 2^nd floor and someone was always there to answer questions!
Pharmacy– Great people there! Answer any questions and tell you if you prescription is going to be expensive before filling it to make sure you are ok with that.
Clinic-​Great speedy service. I was in and out within 30 minutes each time! Beats the doctor any day for easily treatable problems. (I had a spider bite on my leg.) Also you can not beat the fact that they send your prescriptions over to the pharmacy for you to pick up shortly after leaving. They are usually FPN treating you in the clinic.
Overall I will continue to make use if this Walgreens clinic and pharmacy while I live in the area for all my non emergency medical and pharmacy needs!

The perfect alternative to CVS! This location is great. The staff is very attentive, the location is very clean and they have an array of products that even includes food when you’re in a bind! I’ve ordered photos a number of times and they are always ready on time and the quality is always great. The pharmacy provides great services and are very efficient.

This is the nicest drug store I have ever seen. The whole store is really clean and well-​lit. They have a large selection of prepared foods to grab and go, as well as fresh produce. Upstairs, there’s a clinic and a specific area where you can go ask the pharmacist a question. There’s also a huge, beautiful make-​up section. The staff are friendly and helpful, as well. I’ll definitely be back to this Walgreens!

This place is definitely for Beauty Enthusiasts. They have the Look Boutique here which is a nice glamorous cosmetic section. Very clean Walgreens overall. Definitely worth checking out. Steps from Van Ness/​UDC Metro. Check out the pictures if you want to see the Look Botique.

Imagine a world where your local Sephora store was also part grocery store, and then part conventional drug store (a la CVS). The best one stop shopping ever.
I am here to tell you that this world exists and it’s called Walgreens.
I visited on December 21^st, 2012, supposedly the Mayan end of the world day. I ran in here to get some travel sized items, just in case the world kept going so that I could make my flight out to South America the next day.
The first floor was clean, neat and had they typical grocery/​office supply items. Then I headed to the second floor, which is known as the Look Boutique, and this is when I believed the world ended and I was in heaven. I just ascended into a bright immaculate store filled with shiny new cosmetics as far as the eye could see. Right at the top of the escalators, I was greeted by walls of high end nail polish (OPI) and an entire display of Demeter fragrances.
So what was supposed to be a quick five minute trip to a drugstore to get travel safe contact solution and mouthwash, turned into a two hour cosmetic sampling extravaganza.
First off, the Demeter wall has every fragrance you can think of and each scent is about $ 15. No joke. I read somewhere (actual study) that men are attracted to certain scents. These odors included pumpkin pie, liquorice, doughnuts and lavender, and various combinations of these, as well as oriental spice and cola. Of course the Demeter wall had all of these fragrances, so I conducted my own phermone study and I tried them all on. At once. I kind of ended up smelling like one part Jagermeister, one part floral douche with a touch of Dunkin Donuts store smell. No man would be able to resist me now!
The entire floor is staffed with «beauty advisers» Picture the sales staff at Sephora but friendlier with actual cosmetology licenses and with more sleeve tattoos. They’ll leave you alone, if you’re just browsing, but if you have a question, they are super helpful and willing to provide some samples to take home. Their cosmetic stations are awesome. There is no clutter, lots of natural light and they look a thousand times more appealing that what you find in the traditional department store.
The «Look boutique» goes beyond the brands that is carried in a traditional drugstore. They some of the same brands found in spas like Becca Cosmetics and Kinerase line. They have premium hair care lines (e.g. Kerastase) too.
The best part is when I rang up my purchases, and signed up for their rewards program, I ended up finding a little Hello Kitty Demeter Fragrance in my bag and a free promo code for their beauty sample box. If you go here, sign up for the free rewards program, you won’t regret it! I will never step foot in a CVS ever again.
As far as findings from the pheromone experiment go it was a success. I was indeed irresistible to men that day. They were mostly homeless dudes on the metro, and one of them offered to be my «black Hercules» that day, whatever that means, but I consider them reliable test subjects. See, science can be fun.

I have to admit that i was never fond of any walgreens due to past experiences where i just felt horrible and like i was being robbed for my money BUT! i decided to give it another try and i was shocked.
When i came across this particular walgreens it was just because i was bored trying to kill time in between classes, and i was blown away. «its really nice in here!» is what i said to myself out loud because im so used to walking into dirty, dim lit and odd smelling drugstores so this was a nice change. I went up to the 2^nd level to look around and i knew i was going to be coming back again and again when i saw the makeup section. The only downfall and the reason why im not giving it 5 stars is because one of the beauty advisors… i think that’s what they call them, was a bit snobbish and kept following me around as if i was going to steal something. But another tiny hispanic girl that works there was nice enough to come up and help me so she made up for it.
Other than that they pretty much have all of your essentials and then some. The lines were a bit long but they moved quickly and the guy that rung me up was super nice so i decided to become a walgreens member just because i know how it is in retail trying to get customers to sign up for your membership program. I also got some photos printed here and they came out great!
All in all, i wished i lived in this area so i could go here all the time.

This Walgreens is so clean. Riding the escalator up to the second floor is like an ascent into cosmetics heaven. Angels should be singing. Not all the lines I’m looking for, but okay selection despite that fact. Lots of standard drugstore goods, some grocery type inventory downstairs, and a fairly expansive beauty section that treats you like you’re visiting a standalone boutique. Coming here after my introduction to nail polish was a mistake for my wallet.

I was lured here by Lia M., who was apparently lured here by Hue K. This Walgreens is located just outside of my Metro station, yet I’d never been simply for the reason that it’s located on the «other» side of the Metro station. I went in thinking, «how great could a Walgreens cosmetics section be??»
As I turned the corner after making my way up to the second floor, my eyes were blinded by a brightly-​lit side of the store, boasting a meticulous display of cosmetics and nail polish. It actually felt like I was in a cosmetics store rather than a corner of a drugstore.
Perhaps because it’s new, the rest of the store was also very clean and well-​organized. Everything was almost too perfectly stacked, making me wonder if they’ll be able to keep up the flawless display in the long run.
They had a few pretty good deals, but overall, prices are notably higher than the Giant or CVS across the block. Considering the proximity to other grocery stores, the price factor was a big minus, but it’s the cosmetics section that saves this Walgreens in my book.

I am so glad Hue took me here. I read her review, bookmarked, then got to visit the next day. I won’t repeat her review, but I agree with everything she says. I actually tend to like Walgreens more than CVS, so I was really happy to visit and the staff was friendly.
Here’s what I loved about this location: the cosmetics section. Becca? Check. Pop Beauty? Check. Demeter Fragrances? Check. Tini Beauty? Check. OPI? You bet. The Becca and Demeter sections had me really excited — Beach Tint lipstain & Sugar Cookie scent, anyone? Plus a great selection of OPI, including Shatter. Friendly, albeit pushy, cosmetic girl. I’ll definitely be back, even though it is nowhere near where I live (but directly across from the Van Ness stop).

This is the biggest and cleanest Walgreens and a drug store I’ve ever been to. This 2-​story Walgreens is recently opened and it has underground parking lot (free!). The store is specious and organized inside. The photography service is very convenient and efficient. You can even scan any photo/​documents you have. It has most grocery items and office supplies on the first floor. On the 2^nd floor, it has big cosmetic area where you can try various cosmetics and get counselings too. Then of course there is pharmacy and clinic as well.
PS: One great service the Walgreens offers is that you can shop online and just go to this store and pick up your order.
