Specialties
Welcome to Upstairs on 7th, a boutique for the woman who has a modern approach to dressing that is both sophisticated and individualized. Ricki Peltzman, owner and buyer, has a simple philosophy when it comes to buying for the shop. She always asks herself two questions: would I wear it and would I buy it at the retail price? To that end, the merchandise is an interesting mix of upscale fashionable clothing and accessories that will take customers from work to dinner, and won’t go out of style.
At Upstairs on 7th you can enjoy a shopping experience that is relaxed, yet inspired. We are known for our unique designer clothing including Ray Harris, Blanque, Planet, Crea Concept, Dress to Kill, Kokomarina, Comfy, Sun Kim, Lilith, Lunn, and Spirithouse among others. We were voted in the top three stores for accessories in the city, with jewelry ranging from $ 40 and up and carry a wide range of great handbags for under $ 100.
As Ricki says, «I don’t want to be the most exclusive store in DC, I just want to be the best.»
History
Established in 2003.
In 2003 Ricki relocated to the DC area and could not find anywhere to shop for the style of clothing she was accustomed to. It was then that she decided to start her own shop, resulting in the creation of Upstairs on 7th, a women’s apparel and accessories boutique. Originally located inside the Touchstone Art Gallery on 7th street, U7 relocated when the 7th street building began renovations. Despite the move, Ricki did not feel it was necessary to change the name of the well known Upstairs on 7th, which now operates inside the lobby of the building on F and 12th that also houses Arnold and Porter, Celadon Salon, and Gallery 555.
