I had my 2^nd massage at Unwind yesterday. While they charge more than what I used to pay my therapist back in Louisiana, they are definitely a good deal for the DC area (based on my research). The location is easily accessible and very comfortable and inviting.
The front desk clerks… my first visit she was a little mediocre. Not rude or unfriendly… but not very inviting either. My 2^nd visit was a different person and she was great. Very friendly and made accommodations as needed to help me out.
My first massage was with Daniel. He did an amazing job at working the knots out of the muscles in my back and shoulders. It hurt pretty badly at some points due to the intensity and severity of how tight and knotted up I was. I was sore for a couple of days afterward. My 2^nd massage was with Max. Completely different approach and experience. I was so relaxed that I literally passed out on the table. I woke up with an imprint of the pillow in my face that stayed for half of the day. No soreness afterward. Both massages were amazing but each for completely different reasons.
I couldn’t recommend this place more. I will definitely be going back.

I had my first massage with Danielle and it was AMAZING, she is really good, my second time was with Max and I was one more time satisfied, Max is also very good ! They both knew what they were doing!
They have different styles of massage but they’re equally good !!
The place is beautiful and calm, staff is very helpful, I call in the very last minute both times and they were nice to fit me in!
I also got there a little late and it was no problem, they provide the full session!
If it’s your first time you get $ 10 off! And they also have discounts for the morning hours!
The owner is a sweetheart, and the front desk very nice ! Costumer service is really good there !

I’ve been here a couple of times for couples massage on short notice. They always manage to squeeze us both in. I’ve had one experience when the receptionist forgot to put one of us on the schedule, but they were still able to work it out and had both of us on a table for our appointment.
I’ve had a few different therapists and they all have been incredible receptive to needs and areas that need to be avoided. They all respond well to feedback and are always kind and courteous.
Have to say that my favorite therapist is Max — he’s a master! I carry a lot of my stress in my shoulders and back and Max made me feel like I could float away in just an hour. And the pain stayed away for quite some time, too!

I tried to make a reservation for a deep tissue massage online, but their system wasn’t working, so I called in. When I arrived for my massage they had booked it for an hour later than we agreed on the phone, and they asked if I had anything in writing confirming the massage time. They did apologize, but it was a bit aggravating. After killing time for an hour, I came back and was taken outside an into another part of the building. The room was nice an I was surprised by how little noise you hear.
The massage was just mediocre. The pressure wasn’t that deep, and it felt more like someone rubbing lotion on me for an hour. I did ask for deeper pressure (and it was a deep tissue massage), but it’s hard to give more guidance than that in the moment. Other reviewers had opposite experiences (too much pressure), and I think this problem could be avoided by asking a few questions about what a person wants out of a massage. I should have been more assertive and told the masseuse exactly what I wanted before I started, but again there is a reason I booked deep tissue and not Swedish. I left disappointed and am very surprised this is so highly ranked. I will not go back.

We were able to book same day but a few hours later they said they no longer had two female massage therapists that day, but only one female and one male. That was fine but I was a bit irked. You arrive there and they have to let you in or buzz you in. They have you fill out a form. Our massage therapists were George and Simi. They offer you water and wait for you to finish. Simi was very nice and kept offering water etc. George seemed a bit nervous I have to say. I got the feeling he was either uncomfortable dealing with customers or it was his first day as a therapist. The rooms are nice. The massage cream they used smells very good too. The massage itself was OK too but at times too much pressure but that’s on me for not saying something early on. The therapists as a team were not in sync while talking to us. It was a bit awkward. One would contradict the other (Simi was asking who wanted the male therapist and then George said whomever lays down on a particular massage table will be his client). It was awkward. I don’t know why those two were not a better team but it seems like they were thrown together last minute.
I liked my other massage experience at wat massage next door to them because the therapists were very positive, in sync, and put me at ease. I don’t know if I will come back here based on today’s experience.

Had a FABULOUS massage with Max today. I’ve had a lot of massages in my life and Max is simply amazing. I would see him everyday if I could. Every time I go I kick myself for not going more often. Massage is so healing!

It’s almost unnerving how wonderful and kind and patient everyone is here. My über made me so late to my appt and not only were they not peeved, they went out of their way to make sure my experience was even more relaxing because I was so visibly stressed. Not to mention the reasonable prices and their ability to almost always squeeze you into the schedule. This was my second visit, and I will continue to go every time I’m in town.

I had a deep tissue with Max. He was great but not really my style preference (I believe he was using trigger therapy). I’ll definitely be back but will try out a new therapist.

What an amazing place to get a massage! Very reasonable prices too! Nice space & mid century ambience in the massage rooms. Staff were very pleasant to talk to on the phone & welcoming once you came in. I like deep tissue and Max was recommended by someone. He was the best massage therapist I’ve ever had. The warm towel at your back & front upper body was a good touch. Never had it before in any other or massage place.
Will certainly be a regular client there.

I can’t speak highly enough about this business. I’ve been getting massages regularly from a variety of different therapists for over a year now and they are all skilled and wonderful at what they do! (I’ll put in an extra special plug for Max though– he’s awesome.)
The prices are very reasonable for this area, and it’s a deal once you factor in the quality of the massages. The owner, Antonio (I think?), is a very warm, friendly person. Though I’ve never had any problems with this business, I feel very confident that he is the kind of person who would make any issues right.
Also, the front desk staff are friendly and competent– imagine!

Amazing! Loved this place. I will definitely go back again. The waiting area is small but cozy. They have water and hot tea. Everyone is very nice. The décor is beutiful you feel like royalty with how beautiful the rooms are and relaxing.
My massage was great and very needed for stress and anxiety. My masseuse definitely worked on this knots and problem areas I asked. My session helped my sore and tense spots. All the clients that I saw that finished their session while I waited, were very happy and had great comments for the front desk. It was definitely a calm and peaceful place. They were great about fitting me in when I called the same day. It’s very helpful they stay open so late. I definitely recommend them!

Seriously the best massage i’ve ever had. I’ve been here twice and will never go anywhere else. Some could argue the prices are higher than most places but it is seriously well worth every last dollar. I’ve gone to two different people and both did such a great job. I was even greeted by the owner one time and he was so happy and pleasant! Definitely booking a couples massage for my boyfriend and I soon before they get booked up for Valentine’s Day!

Located at the corner of 18^th and Florida, from the street it looks like your typical row house. It is located directly across the street from L’Enfant Café. Now, Unwind has started putting out signs in front, which definitely helped me find the place — good job marketing team!
I called before coming to Unwind to make an appointment only a day in advance and they accommodated my request right away. I scheduled a 90 minute deep tissue massage ($ 120) with Daniel. $ 120 is actually a pretty good deal compared to luxury spas that charge $ 120 for a 50 minute massage.
The waiting room is a little small but welcoming and the front desk person was very friendly. I arrived about 3 minutes before my appointment started and filled out some paperwork and my technician met me right away. For my massage, we came out of the reception area and went downstairs into their basement area. In the basement, there are a couple of massage rooms. They were very warm, cozy, and inviting.
Daniel was very professional. I explained my tension areas and he made sure the pressure was to my liking. He focused on two of my most painful areas for about 30 minutes giving me relief for the first time in probably a year. I thoroughly enjoyed my massage and I am definitely coming back. I would recommend Daniel to anyone.

I don’t write reviews often, but about a year ago I finally reviewed my favorite spa for massages in NYC. We moved down to the DC area 2 ½ years ago and I had not found any place that rivaled my all time favorite spa.
I just had the best massage of my life at Unwind.
I’d say I generally treat myself to one or two massages a year, maybe a bonus one on a vacation. I’ve always loved them for being relaxing — I mean, who doesn’t love a nice massage?
This time I went in with severely tight muscles in my upper back. My right shoulder blade has been sore for months (stress? Constantly lifting a toddler?) and although I’ve been saying I want to indulge in a massage, I didn’t actually expect the instant relief I would feel from pain I’d basically gotten used to as commonplace.
I had initially requested a female therapist but there was a little mix up and I ended up with Paolo. I was a little nervous because I’d never had a male therapist before. But if the choice was a male masseur or no massage, I was going to get over it. In the end, I was so lucky to get booked with Paolo and he knew exactly how much pressure to use and how to relax every muscle. Next time my back starts getting tense, I will not hesitate to book again with Paolo at Unwind.

Have increased my workouts which resulted in tired, sore legs/​hips. Scheduled a 90 minute session with Sergey to open me up and work out the stress. I told him upfront that I didn’t want heavy DT work, just a good firm hand. Well he delivered in spades. He spent the majority of the massage on my legs (front and back), hips and lower back. At no time did I experience the «pain» of DT work, only gentle release. Not once did I have to ask for a little less/​little more pressure. He finished the session with some nice neck/​head work to completely unwind me.
It was easy to book an appointment and they gave me $ 10 off since it was my first time visiting. My only complaint was the temp in the room was a bit cold for my taste during a massage. Sergey turned the table heater up and all was good. Will def be booking with Sergey again.

I had an hour long, deep tissue massage with Amber and I’m hooked on this place! Amber took her time and was so knowledgable! She completely relaxed me and girlfriend Hooked it up!
