Touch Studio of Massage

My partner bought me a 45 minute, deep tissue massage here for Christmas. I arrived about five minutes early and was greeted by a very friendly female staff member. She had me fill out some basic assessment paperwork and then I was quickly taken in the back.
The office is actually split between two businesses, so the Touch of Studio Massage is actually quite small, maybe two rooms. I was guided to one of the rooms, which was wonderfully warm on a very cold December day, beautifully scented, and with low lighting. I was instructed to disrobe and to lay face down on the table.
My technician, Maro, knocked, greeted me nicely, and asked if there was any place to focus. I said I just wanted a massage overall. Maro was incredible. She had me smell some peppermint oil on her hands and then immediately found my trouble areas and an obvious knot by my left shoulder blade. The massage was a relaxing and healing pressure. She worked the back, legs, feet, and arms, including finding a very tense forearm, which I didn’t even realize was tense until she started working it.
The massage ended slightly abruptly in that when we finished, she instructed me to dress, but gave no other instruction or checked in. I would have appreciated being offered water or at least been instructed to come to the desk when dressed.
Overall, though, this was one of the best massages I have ever had. Maro read my body well and left me feeling incredibly relaxed. I was a little sore the next day, but it was that wonderful type of sore where I felt my muscles had been manipulated to open up.

Just had a 30 minute lunchtime sweedish massage with Betty. OMG. Not an ache left in my back or shoulders. She knows what she is doing. AND super easy and lots of options for appointments on their website. Reasonably priced.

This place was great! This was my first time here and I got a couples massage. I was Amazing!

I have had massages all over the world. Some places you pay for the frills but don’t receive the bodywork you need. While this place is «no frills», I would much rather have a great massage over water fountains.
After days in pain and hours before boarding a flight again, I ran here to get a massage. I was blessed to have Iris, who used the perfect amount of pressure where needed to give me a revitalizing and healing Swedish massage.
Believe me: I will be back on my next trip to DC.

I’ve received massages in many different states and in a variety of countries – all of them paled in comparison to the treatment that I received here. I had Rose work on me and she is undoubtedly the best therapist I’ve ever had. She used perfect pressure and demonstrated her extensive physiological knowledge as she stretched and kneaded my soft tissue. The only bad thing about this place is that I can’t bring it with me when I have to leave this city someday. I highly recommend anyone with chronic soft tissue pain to visit this studio immediately.

I received a massage here as a Christmas gift from a family member and I couldn’t be happier. Initially when I got the word that I would be getting a massage I was excited, but as I began to read the Unilocal reviews I quickly became uninterested. However, when an establishment has so few Unilocal reviews, I often take them with a grain of salt and I am glad that I did because I decided to still go and I enjoyed every minute of it.
I didn’t expect much when I came to this place, but I must say I was pleasantly surprised. It is located in a office building off of Connecticut Ave, so beware of parking. I parked in an overly priced garage down the block for $ 17 for 2 hours, but that is an entirely different issue. The suite is located on the sixth floor of the building and it is clean and welcoming. When I arrived, I was greeted by a pleasant lady and few moments later my masseuse came to get me. I walked into the massage room and although it was small (it’s DC what do you expect) it still was a relaxing space.
The massage was so amazing. It was my first time receiving a Swedish massage, and it definitely will not be the last. There were moments in the massage when I did feel like she applied quite a bit of pressure, but trust me I didn’t complain because I know she was working out those kinks. It was one of the best hours of my life. I will be back to see her soon. After the massage she gave me a card with her name on it, but of course I misplaced it and forgot her name. But I won’t forget her face. Overall, it was a great experience and I think they are a very friendly and professional staff.
I recommend this place for those of you who want to go and relax and get a great massage at an affordable price. If you are looking for that five star luxury hotel spa experience then this obviously isn’t the place for you. I think it is a great place to unwind to get a break from the hustle and bustle of the city.

I came in for a last minute, 15 minute massage on Friday afternoon. Rosa was happy to accommodate my somewhat strange request (I don’t think many people ask for 15 minute massages) and gave me a GREAT massage. If you’re someone who likes to be pampered, this probably isn’t the place for you — it’s no frills to the extreme. But if you’re just looking for a talented, communicative masseuse, Rosa’s your woman. I felt like a different person after just 15 minutes!

In planning a birthday relaxation day for me and my bestie, which included a massage, Brazilian wax, lunch and eyebrow threading… after two weeks of online research we settled on Touch for the massage… since there were two of us I booked the couples valentine day Swedish massage, 50 minutes for $ 120…I informed them I wanted to use a spa finder gift card and they said I couldn’t combine the gift card with the special, but instead of the regular price of $ 150, the took $ 10 off. We drove from Baltimore, and needless to say, we got lost, couldn’t find parking and were late. I called ahead to let them know. We arrived about 20 minutes late, I was fully prepared for them to shave that 20 minutes off our massage… gues what? They didn’t, gave us the full 50 minutes! They we’re so nice, the room was small, but so relaxing, dim lights, nice smelling, clean… great ambience. They applied the right amount of pressure, not too much oil. I will be returning!

I go to the same suite for electrolysis, so I’ve had two massages here after those appointments to de-​stress (mention that you go to Sherry for electrolysis and you get a discount). I don’t like that they don’t display prices on their website anymore– it makes me think they def have diff prices for diff people. In any case, they don’t really ask you what you want them avoid, injuries you have, what you like, etc., which I think it s a mistake, but if you take them time to tell them, they listen.
My favorite of my two massages was with Rose (I will definitely ask for her in the future) as she was very attentive to what I told her about my preferences. The oil she used also smelled amazing!
The place itself is VERY basic– two small rooms with the table, a bench, and a sink. Nothing fancy. The prices are a little steep I think too for what you get. I will be back– but only to go to Rose. If you go, make sure to use their online special for new customers, which gives you $ 10 off your first massage!

Massage was mediocre. My therapist was Karla — one of the other reviews said she was good, so I went for it. I won’t be going back. I guess it did the trick for a day of stress and $ 10 off with the new clients deal, but I was critiquing the entire time I was on the table.
Pros —
–I called around 530 p.m. after a crappy week at work and they fit me in at 6:15 p.m.
–Convenient location
–Professional therpist, clean room, comfortable place/​temperature
Cons–
–Didn’t talk to me before the masage about preferences/​injuries (which I noted on the sheet that I had one), etc. So I had to akwardly tell her about my injury and what I wanted while I was face down.
–Massage was just so-​so. I felt like I could have done a similar job to someone else. I’ve had many, many massages and this one showed no real talent
–Very aggressive pulling of my arms/​legs
–As she massaged my shoulders she kept hitting the head holder
–I had a foot injury and told her about it, yet she ignored this fact as if I had never mentioned it — I was scared she was going to make it worse
–I’ve only had one or two other massages where they massage your stomach — it was weird and I still don’t see the point in it if they do it for 1 minute
I continue my quest for a decent massage at an above-​average price in D.C. …

I gave my mom a Unilocal deal to Touch Studio of Massage for her birthday. I picked her up after her massage and she was very pleased. She reported that the therapist she had touch instructions/​feedback well and focused on her problems areas at the desired pressures. I would certainly use Touch for a birthday gift again. Next time, I may even splurge on myself!

I have never had a deep tissue massage and i knew i needed one when my neck, shoulders And back started to bother me. I googled for affordable massage places and saw Touch of studio of Massage and gave it a try. It was less than a minute walk from the south exit of the Dupont Circle metro station exit and was not hard to find. I was 25mins late for my appointment but i called them when i was on my way and they were okay with that which was good. Rose gave me the best massage i’ve ever had. I came for a deep tissue massage and that’s what i got. She also asked me if she was using too much pressure and made sure i was okay.
I have read other reviews saying that they used towels to cover and it felt cold inside the room. They used a cotton blanket when i had my massage and it wasn’t cold in the room at all. The place also has exceptionally flexible hours (mon-​fri 4pm-​10m and sat-​sun 10am-​10pm). I will definitely go back in 4 – 5 week. This is something for me to look forward to.
I’m writing this review the day after my massage and I don’t feel any pain in my shoulders anymore. I thought this will never go away. yay!

I bought an Amazon Local deal and decided that with work being stressful, now would be a pretty good time to get the tension out of my back. The building is conveniently located a block from the Dupont Circle exit on the Red Line. If you make it before 5, you don’t have to sign in with the security guard.
The space is very small and there were children’s toys and clothes strewn about. It seems as though one of the receptionists had brought their kid and there were children in the receptionist’s area. I was greeted warmly and told to wait. The décor overall is a little shabby and almost a little seedy. When I went out to the hallway to use the restroom, there was a woman sitting on the floor with her child. So basically, if you want your massage studio to be pretty and have ambiance, this place is not for you.
After filling out a form, I was buzzed into the back. The massage room was small, dark and the smell wasn’t particularly relaxing, but I received one of the best massages ever from Karla. She asked in the beginning whether the pressure was acceptable and after I confirmed that it was, she proceeded to massage out the tension knots from my back. The oil she used smelled like eucalyptus and it was very soothing, but she also used a lotion that smelled like the dollar store kind. I didn’t mind this because it felt so nice anyway, but definitely something to be improved upon. There also should be a policy where they make people stay quiet because in the middle of the massage, I could hear a very loud conversation between one of the other staff and another customer. It didn’t last more than a minute, but was still irritating.
I feel refreshed and a bit sore, but it’s the day after!
This place certainly has the talent and the staff is extremely nice and makes you feel very welcome, but the atmosphere could be improved upon.

I wanted to like this place, but after 3 visits with fairly different experiences, I am hesitant to go back.
Like other reviewers, please note that this massage studio is not luxurious and not a spa. You get what you pay for.
Here are my experiences:
First time– about 12 months ago, was with Carolina. She gave a great massage and I came out with a relaxed ease in my previously-​knotted up muscles.
Second time — July 2012 was with Betty. The music playing was soothing, and at what point, I did fall asleep. Betty did an OK job, but the room was cold and I could not get comfortable. I also was unhappy with the greasy feeling I was left with after the massage – which mattered because I was going back to work and I felt like I really needed a shower.
Third time — Aug 2012 was with Rose. She was sweet, I could tell, but here are TIPS for her to make the experience better and a happy client: (I really wanted to tell her this, but there was another client waiting…)
1) have a simple 15-​second conversation about what your client wants– tension in back, or legs, or need more concentration on the neck, whatever– I realized later that she may not have asked because she didn’t give massages like other trained masseuses. (On my visit, She did NOT initiate the query, so I told her 3 areas I wanted attention: my back was hurting from slumping in the office chair, my neck strain, and if she could do a 5-​minute head massage… Speaking up was mildly helpful.)
2) don’t use SO much lotion! (again, felt really greasy)
3) use varied strokes! 80% of my massage felt like a lotioned rub-​down. It wasn’t exactly relaxing, and it was the same constant pressure with the same rubbing /​pushing motion everywhere. I thought about telling her, but I didn’t want to offend. It was also fast, so I felt like she was in a hurry. There were no long gliding strokes like a caressing, relaxing massage should be. I had started to learn about massage therapy, so I know that there are different ways to work muscles or relax them.
4) when someone asks for a head massage, don’t rub it as if you are lathering up shampoo. sigh… that was just weird and uncomfortable.
Other factors that made this experience my least favorite at Touch Studio: the music. It was too loud, and went through 4 – 5 genres. First, the 80’s and 90’s love ballads – instrumental version! then there was some new age singing, then the music switched to some more unbearable soft rock. Who decided this playlist was a good idea?
If you go, go in not expecting a spa experience, and also I would suggest to tell the masseuse what you want done.

This is my favorite massage place in the city and I am almost hesitant to share. First let me start by saying that if you want luxury this is not the place for you. But if you want a really good and affordable message this is it, especially if you ask for Rose!

I was looking for a massage place close by my job to help relieve a strained IT band and tight hip muscles and found Touch Studio online.
I liked their low prices advertised online and the fact that they had several same day appointments available so I made an appointment and went over.
When I got there, the receptionist informed me that the price for the 60 min massage would actually be $ 100 instead of the $ 85 quoted online, but at $ 100 I figured it was still pretty decent compared to other places, plus I was in deeep pain, so I went ahead.
I had Carmen for my massage and she was excellent. She asked how much pressure I needed from the outset and used the same consistently firm pressure throughout the session. While her technique wasn’t as refined as some of the professional spa places (not always very smooth, felt very «follow the manual, step 1, step 2…), it definitely did the job, her pressure was perfect and her customer service was excellent. She checked in frequently, and seemed really eager to do a good job.
On the whole, other than the «impromptu price hike», I was definitely happy with my service and am planning to make it a regular spot for those times when I need a quick, no-​frills, same-​day massage at a decent price.

A friend and i bought the deal here on Unilocal for $ 50 for $ 75 of service. When i went on a Saturday it took them 10 minutes to answer the phone and buzz us in.
Even though we were the only two people there and we were only there for a massage we needed to fill out a form like we were in a doctors office (oh wait we were, PS they are also a GYNO office). We were seen on time and the aromas were nice and the place we clean and for a doctors office was calming.
The woman i had (i think her name was Iris) was way to easy at first then when i asked her to apply more pressure i almost cried because she was so rough. Once i asked her again to adjust her pressure she finally figured it out. They didnt have the best soothing music and you can hear everything in the halls of the office it was still a decent massage for $ 50.

I had Nicole. Nicole thought that I was paying her to rub lotion on my skin. She didn’t know or care where my muscles were, and couldn’t be bothered to press down on my skin to find out.
One hour and $ 75 later, my skin is very moisturized, but the stress knots in my shoulders are even worse after wasting all that money and time.
Worst massage EVER. Don’t go here.

The «deal» of $ 10.00 off for New Clients is only for 45 minute or 60 minute massages.
Rosa was nice and worked well. I liked this place. Yeah, the oils are smelly and they are liberal with its use, I enjoyed my massage.
This space isn’t as fancy or deluxe as the spas that charge for the same amount, but at the end of the day… the most important thing is the massage therapist and Rose is well retrained and worked out my muscles!

I suppose in order to fully enjoy your massage from this establishment, you would first have to get them to actually show up for your appointment.
I emailed them before our trip for two people to get massages on Sunday 4÷17÷11 at 10am. After receiving a confirmation email, we showed up at 9:45am for our appointments. To our surprise, there was no one there. I called from the call box at the building and there was no answer. Next, I called the number listed on their website. I spoke to a woman who said that she would be there very soon. At 10:15 am (30 minutes AFTER my initial call) a woman shows up. One massage therapist for two people? 15 minutes late for an appointment? Good to know my time is not worth anything to this company.
While waiting, we called another spa Body Co. Spa. They had two massage therapist waiting for us when we arrived and they were only a block away.
If you are on vacation and do not want to be greatly disappointed, as we were, pass on this place and go to Body Co. Spa, they were excellent!
