The Westin Georgetown, Washington D.C.

When I had two choices to choose between Westin and Marriott for the same night. I picked Westin for $ 20 more. It turned out to be a wrong choice. They are two different hotel chains. Marriott always treated me with amazing surprises and nice memory every time, almost flawless. Westin, after read the rave reviews online about this 4 stars. I am disappointed at my experience and probably the last time I stay here.
At most 3 star level.
Furniture is modern and new
1). Customer service is very mediocre. Attitude is very so so.
2) coffee machine is broken. Had to call for an exchange.
3) no USB plug or refrigerator in the room
4) parking costs $ 40 – 50 a night is ridiculous!
5) room is not big. Right the size of the bed. There is long hall way to walk in the room. I call it useless space.
6) tub, sink, chair have stains on and hair. not clean.
7) there are two Westin within 5 blocks away on the same street. It’s confusing! and traffic is bad. Hard to find parking.
8) even they says there is a pool. It’s only opens in summer.
9) Westin famous heavenly bed actually is hard as rock!
11) no dressing mirror
Now I know why Marriott is buying Westin!

Nice Westin, not the nicest I’ve been in but city hotels always have less amenities. The bathrooms are big and spacious, I’m a fan of the toilet in a separate room and the shower separate from the bath. The lobby could be bigger and there are always a lot of people in there for the amount of staff they have. The restaurant has good omelettes, but it’s costly. Comfy bed, quiet. Not a fan of the magnetic snack things, I should know better by now but I always pick one up and move it.

Amazing staff– Everyone there– from the manager to the housekeeping!
Amazing rooms– Clean and big!
Child friendly– amazing with the kids!!!

Overall I was impressed with the Westin Georgetown. The service was very good and in particular, I thank the front desk for their courtesy and care. We arrived early from New York around noon, and they found us a room within 30 min, which allowed us to freshen up before we explore the city. The hotel waived the cot fee and upgraded us to a premium room, as an SPG Gold member, which was appreciated. The hotel is in a really good and quiet location, which is walking distance from both Georgetown and the Washington historical sites (The Mall, the White House, Smithsonian Museums). The only downside is that the Metro is not very close, so if you plan to use it frequently, that could be difficult.
The room was very nice. It was showing some age, as the TV was smaller and bed wasn’t quite as comfy as the newer Westin Wilmington I’ve stayed at for work, but overall, I was impressed.
My only negative is that the hotel lacks character compared to other properties I’ve visited. The lobby is small and basic. However, it is a great hotel for business or personal trips to DC. The rooms are clean and well kept and the service is great.

Nice spacious hotel. The bed was strangely really wide but short length wise. Still comfy though. The bathroom had a separate shower and bath tub and good lighting to get ready. a plus for the chicas. Was there for a conference which was conveniently located in the hotel. Boveda the «spanish speakeasy» attached to the hotel had good drinks but the food was pretty meh. Helpful doormen. Was happy with my stay until after I checked out and realized I had lost my camera. I am almost 100% that my camera was left in my hotel room cuz that’s the very last place I had it. I called and they said they would check. never received a call back. Called again and said they didn’t find it. My coworker also said they gave her the run around trying to fix her bill after they incorrectly charged her for taking wine. F’in sensors on hotel mini bars these days that charge you automatically for the slightest touch need to go.

One of the best Westin hotels I have stayed at. From the staff to the clean room, we were so appreciative of the chance to relax in this nice atmosphere after exploring in DC for days! Then again, I would not expect any less from the heavenly beds the Westin chains have. Consider upgrading to a bigger room, you will appreciate the extra room.

Not happy with this hotel at all. No valet help, receptionist was rude, rooms were dirty, will never stay here again.

Under other circumstances, this hotel would have received a five star rating but we only stayed for the weekend and we did not eat at the hotel, so a strong four stars, it is!
This is a very nice location, if you want to be near the shopping of Georgetown or if you just want to be away from the hustle of center city.
The rooms were large… we got upgraded to a deluxe room… and there is a large soaking tub along with a shower, large enough for two. VERY clean, staff was friendly and helpful, and the décor was up to date, not ultra modern, but modern and very comfortable bedding. Complimentary Starbucks coffee in the bedroom with coffee maker and Starbucks across the street make ‘morning fix’ very convenient.
My best tip is to stay here if Georgetown is where you want to be and also look into the Über car service. Download the app and the Concierge will give you the coupon which makes your first ride free. We used it the whole weekend, so convenient, much better than taxi or metro system, although the metro is quite an experience.
It was a great weekend and thanks to Westin, we still love our weekends in DC… we will back!

I’m reviewing the professionalism of the staff. I had to park for a moment in front of the hotel and the staff is extremely friendly and kind. They didn’t treat me rudely for just needing to stop in their front lot.

Stayed here back in September 2015, for my sisters birthday celebration! The location is great. In walking distance of many attractions and restaurants. The door men are so sweet and lovely.
Note no public parking valet 45 a night .
The suite was super spacious. Had a sitting area, nice vanity, and huge bathroom. This hotel is very clean and safe.
Now, there was an issue with a leak in the ceiling of our toilet area in the bathroom, and Nathan the hotel manager handled it very professionally and apologized many.
This is a great place to stay for business a weekend getaway or a little R&R! 5 stars for me. :)

Love this Westin. Only better Westin I have been to is the one in Madrid.
Great, quiet location in between the busy part of Georgetown and the rest of DC.
Friendly staff helped with bags, smiled, gave advice on the area.
Clean and modern rooms with view of M Street.
Solid happy hour specials 4 – 7 in the hotel restaurant.
And this is going to sound dumb but the bowl of apples (mixed variety) was a great touch. I am so used to the plain green apples in front desk bowl after living in hotels for a year that it is truly refreshing to have a mixed variety bowl.
This was just a great hotel experience. I wish my corporate rate would fall into this range more often.

I stayed at this hotel for a conference I had on the Georgetown campus in August 2015.
From the time I arrived, almost everything went perfectly.
Taxi pulled up right to the door, and an employee opened my car door and took my bag for me. He was extremely polite and wished me a good visit.
I can’t remember who checked me in, but it was a young man, and he was polite and professional. He had a pleasant demeanor and even joked around a bit with me in a friendly way. He seemed to be happy to be at work that day. (My only «issue» at the desk was that I remember the counter being pretty tall… like almost to my chin. Not a big deal, but I felt like a little kid trying to see over the counter!)
I got a single king bed room. The room was nice, though it did seem a bit small because there was an extremely large wardrobe taking up a wall by the bed. I was there alone, so it wasn’t a big deal. The bathroom was huge. Separate bath and shower, separate room with the toilet, lots of light at the sink mirror. The shower had one of those rainfall shower heads, which isn’t my favorite… but not a big deal.
Pretty normal tv selection, and the TV could pivot to your preference. I had a room overlooking the pool and a nearby construction sight. Even in August the pool wasn’t that busy, so it wasn’t loud or bothersome.
Checkout was easy and just as friendly as check in, and there is a taxi stand immediately outside the building, so it was super easy to get a ride back to the airport.
Overall, a great hotel and would definitely recommend.

I regularly stay at the SPG hotels. I always fill out the electronic survey after checkout. For some establishments like the San Diego Westin, I received prompt follow-​up on my feedback during a recent stay. That’s great customer service. For this one, despite the fact that I indicated I got sick after eating at the bar, nobody cared to do any follow-​up. That’s bad customer service and the one star is «well deserved.»

Fifty stars and toss in some stripes because:
1) when you call from DCA at 11am and ask the lovely voice named «Siggy,» …“Siggy, may I check in really early?”…and then you arrive in thirty, make eye contact with the young woman at the desk and you say «Siggy!?» and she replies knowingly, «Bonnie!?»
HEL-​LO, that is: service.
2) and yes, you check-​in really early to a perfect, albeit compact little room. You appreciate separate deep soaking tub and shower though.
3) you’re here for the RnR DC 5K and you forgot your proper morning snackage… not to fear. Available upon the front counter are: Granola bars, other bars, apples, and fresh newspapers should you rather just chew on some news. (If this was just a courtesy buffet for the running weekend, that’s extra nice!)
4) you encounter courteous and helpful staff, across all departments… and someone who truly took an interest in a situation. A+
5) wonderful location, (close to Metro — Foggy Bottom station), comfortable, clean, quiet, and everything you’d expect.
In summary…

Back to the main stage and the well-​deserved seriousness: «Westin, Georgetown… Thank you!» and in the spirit of keeping with my opening line, «I salute you.»

Nice green incentives and tech that sets them apart were my two bigger impressions of the Westin. Their rooms require you to leave your room key in a special dock in order to power your lights which is a relatively non invasive way to encourage you to not leave the lights on when you leave your room. Another nice «green» feature is an incentive of 500 reward points or a $ 5 voucher for the hotel restaurant for every night you request no cleaning services. Green features aside, what I think sets the Westin and other SPG hotels apart is their tech. A few of my favorite examples are their iOS app which integrates seamlessly with my passbook so I can easily use my virtual card when checking in to earn points, check out, set to unlock my room door using my phone and so forth. They also have a little charging station by my bed with two USB ports and two regular plugs which means I no longer have to dig around end tables to find a plug or unplug a lamp in order to charge my phone tablet or laptop! It’s the little things right? Even the elevators are tech savvy using locks that only allow you to go to floors by scanning your card first and screens that advertise hotel services like NB exercise gear rental for their gym. The hotel is located just a 5 – 10 minute walk to the foggy bottom metro stop which is fantastic for commuting and there is a nice restaurant and pool of course. I recommend this hotel. Especially if it is on your company’s dime. It affords free wifi and has a business center for business people staying on site. Premium wifi rates are pricey at $ 15.95 a day but that covers up to 5 devices at once. Of course, the rooms are rigged with concessions with motion sensors that auto charge your room the moment you move them. So don’t. Because sometimes their tech is used for evil too ;-)

I’m sure this is a lovely hotel.
But they let noisy drunks sit out front cackling at 3 am, waking up people in condos and apartments nearby.
People are going to start throwing water on them.
You might be collateral damage.

I came to DC with my wife for a conference. I stayed for 5 nights and I can describe the whole stay as an incredible experience.
The location: it is located in georgetown area which is amazing and close to many wonderful places. Waterfront park is few minutes walking distance. Huge number of restaurants including Halal restaurants like (Taj of India and the Muncheez) are close too. Also, it is very close to Foggy-​Bottom metro station. If you use Bike share, you will be able to go to the White House and other sightseeing places within minutes.
Bike Share: it is available, easy, kinda average price. you pay $ 8 for 24-​h membership at the kiosk (no need to struggle with website) and you take the bike for 30 minutes or less for free, then you return it and pick up another bike from different place. it saves time and a lot of fun.
The room: it was very clean and I liked it so much. Very convenient and comfortable. The view was ok (toward the city). The beds are so comfortable and the place was so quiet too. There is no frige or microwave in the room. They provide you with gym stuff (shoes, clothes, etc.) for $ 5 only!!!
The bathroom: very clean and looks very nice too. There is a big bathtub and a huge mirror. Also, the shower was wonderful (The first time to see a shower higher than me).
The staff: very helpful and smily all the time. I was supposed to have 2-​bed room because that was left when I reserved my room a month before, but the front desk found me a king bedroom instead which is very nice. they have concierge services too. There are guys who help you to get a cab if you need it. One day, it was raining and we were supposed to walk to metro station. When we reached the front door, the staff asked us if we want umbrellas and they gave us umbrellas (I think this was excellent service, just on time). We returned the umbrellas when we came back to the hotel.
The amenities: They have complimentary WiFi which is good but sometimes it gets really slow. I didn’t use the parking. They have a nice and big fitness center with free fruit outside and clean towels inside. The swimming pool was closed, but it is very small and it is outside. Business center is small too. The Lobby has no enough space to sit and relax. They don’t have complimentary breakfast, however there is a private restaurant inside the hotel provide breakfast, lunch and dinner (I never tried it).
Overall: Very good place. I highly recommend it. The price is very expensive compared to service you get, but this price is the average price in Georgetown area so I can’t complain much.

I took a mini vacation here and loved every moment. The beds ofcourse are perfect. I was put in a starwood preferred guests room (floor) which had unliimited complimentary bottled Dasani. I wish the wifi were included in the hotel fee or complimentary to Starwood Preffered guests. The remote didn’t work much, thankfully I had netflix and my ipad to keep me company. The location is perfect, walking distance to shopping, restaurants and the White House. Their umbrella’s are perfect for wet days in Washington. I liked the Westin, but I’ll try my best to get a room at the W instead.

Five stars because…
1) I arrived a little past midnight after a delayed flight and Jean Louis at front desk checked me in quickly. Thanks Jean!
2) My room is a «workout» room, which means there’s a treadmill in here. Some may think that’s weird but I think it’s awesome.
3) A nice deep tub. Nothing beats a hot bath after a run on the treadmill.
4) Very comfortable king size bed all to myself.
If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, request for room #225. I’m staying here for a business trip for one night but might make a trip back just for the room!

One of the best hotels ever! Very modern elegant; everything was clean, neat, and organized. The location is great, safe, and close to many major landmarks in DC area. The entire staff is beyond perfect, helping you with everything. I’m would like to recognize the extremely knowledgable front desk host Maggie, for going above and beyond during my stay at The Westin, she handled any situation I had with integrity and professionalism.

Have stayed here a couple of times on business, most recently last week, and found the staff friendly and the location convenient. The guest rooms, like many in DC, are on the smaller side, and unfortunately they are stuffed with furniture that doesn’t really fit, including an oversize arm chair that I kept banging into when getting in and out of bed and a wardrobe that didn’t have the proper width to hold a suit. The institutional food service is satisfactory, but as has been the case before they haven’t properly insulated the courtyard level conference room and it’s uncomfortably drafty!

Everything was great, from the time we check in to the time we checked out. Friendly (great) staff, comfortable clean room, spacious bathroom with separate shower, valet parking personnel were fantastic. The hotel was a home run and could not be more pleased.
BUT we had breakfast at the restaurant (party of six) and the food came lukewarm at best (kind of on the cold side). For $ 130+tip it’s a big thumbs down. Believe me it’s not the price that turned us off (we spent 1K at Bourbon Steak that night and 100% satisfied) it was the fact we were the only table being served and they couldn’t get HOT food to our table. We were on a schedule so we just dealt with it and made the best of it. Don’t hesitate to book this hotel, you will be pleased, but find another place to spend your money when it comes to food.

Generic hotel in a great location. Check out the bar/​restaurant in the basement. It’s kinda dope. Other then that, I’d never stay here unless it was on the company’s dime.

Great, modern, and comfortable hotel to stay at. I’ve been here weekly, and the staff is friendly and recognizes you when you return, so it feels more homely.
The gym is great (although lacking in cardio machines because in the morning it can get crowded) and the rooms and bathrooms are nicer than Marriott bathrooms since it is more modern.
The beds are also the most comfortable to sleep on.
One drawback is the lack of channels! I’ve heard complaints from other stayers looking for simple channels like USA, or other semi premium channels that give customers the opportunity to watch shows they like.

Stayed here for a great price when booking off of one of those sites that don’t tell you your hotel until after booking is complete. I was extremely happy with the price, the location and the room we were put it. We received a king bed room when coming in at 8:30am the day of our reservation (way earlier than the listed check in time) and they were happy to accommodate us.
Our room was medium sized but very clean, modern and elegant. There were plenty of outlets and the tv had quite a number of channels. The bathroom, where I usually have issues with hotels, was superb. I had to dock a star because no fridge or microwave was provided. I had to specifically call and ask for a microwave to be brought up. They, again, were happy to fulfill our request.
The hotel in general was beautiful and elegant. They had a great bar area with salsa dancing over the weekends. The surrounding area was just perfect with a wide array of nearby shopping and restaurant selection. TJs was two blocks down! Woo!

Great location between Foggy Bottom and Georgetown, but decidedly not IN Georgetown. Easy ten minute walk into Georgetown.
Very friendly service upon check in and great recommendations for very specific dining/​entertainment from the concierge.
Beautiful hotel with very clean and comfortable rooms. Nice large bathrooms with the big tubs and separate shower and toilet room. Loved the shower head-​rainforest type spray!
We had a nice view even from the second floor with big windows.
Two reasons for not receiving five stars:
1. Our room was located on the second floor and possibly right on top of a banquet room where a wedding reception was taking place. The floor and walls of our room were vibrating from the very loud music. I called down to the front desk when the music had not ceased by 11 p.m. and was told the party would end by 11:30. The music/​vibration did finally stop about 11:45. (I don’t know what it sounded like on other floors.)
2. You have to pay for in-​room wifi. It’s 2014 people. Get with the program.
Got a great night sleep on the comfy bed after that.
Check out was painless.
Might stay again if I am certain there will be no music during my sleeping hours-​a girl needs her beauty sleep!
