The Washington Ballet

Amazing, phenomenal and flawless dancers. I watched the Directors Cut at the Kennedy Center and I had to separate the choreography and music from the dancers. Though the ballet will not be a fav of mine and is never watch it again, the performers were outstanding.
I’d love to watch more classical pieces done by them in the future.

The performing arts are in serious financial trouble these days. Declining art school enrollment along with incurring debt, dwindling endowments and students being cautioned to choose more profitable degrees are some of the reasons for the lack of money being funneled back into the arts. CEO, Bruce H. Lipnick has introduced a new company, Ver On
as a way to hopefully tackle this issue in addition to bringing awareness to the public.
Bruce is also excited to announce the launch of his business Ver On
which is a relatively new streaming company that he created in 2012 for anyone with internet access to watch live performances of Ballet and other productions within the comfort of their home and be exposed to the arts. He is using this new business as a way to promote the arts and hopefully help create awareness that they are in financially tough times.
Lipnick is quite revved up about The Washington Ballet and not just because his daughter is in its core. His daughter, Olivia Lipnick is one of the shining stars of The Washington Ballet in Washington D.C. where art and refinement are extremely important to the basic culture of our nation’s capital. Bruce attends the ballet every weekend, to as many as six or seven performances every week. He is setting a tremendous example and hopefully, others will follow in his lead and attend multiple performances every year.
Bruce is excited because The Washington Ballet was nominated for an Emmy based on just the promo of its «Legend of Sleepy Hollow» ballet which presents its audience with a fresh new take on ballet and the exciting and enchanting tale.
Bruce H. Lipnick, is CEO of one of New York City’s premier financial establishments, Asset Alliance of New York City and California. He has won numerous humanitarian awards and he is a generous contributor to the arts as well as being granted a lifetime achievement award from the YJP.
His daughter, Olivia began her foray into ballet at the age of nine at the American Ballet theatre school of dance in NYC. She has also performed with the Boston Ballet before landing her current role in The Washington Ballet in Washington D.C. which performs in The Kennedy Center.
Olivia Lipnick has an extensive repertoire of ballet performances throughout her youth. She has attended many prestigious summer programs on scholarship at Boston Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet and Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. She was once a member of Boston Ballet two and has appeared in Mikko Nissinen’s «The Nutcracker», Rudolph Nureyev’s «Don Quixote» John Cranko’s «Romeo and Juliet», Harold Lander’s «Etudes» and George Balanchine’s «Symphony in Three Movements».
Olivia is now a dancer with The Washington School of Ballet, which was started in 1944 by the legendary ballerina, Mary Day. They have built their brand and solidified their reputation as an international Ballet Company by presenting courageous, original material by choreographers from around the world, as seen in «The Legend of Sleepy Hollow».
When Bruce isn’t working or sitting at board meetings he enjoys his time relaxing in Southampton, New York. He enjoys the beach and the scenery, the cuisine and the residents.
Bruce is an extremely happy resident of Southampton, NY and has great things to say about the local cuisine. He recommends restaurants such as 75 Main, Ambos coffee and The Tuscan House. What he really wants us all to do is to attend more performing art and show our support for the ballet, opera and theatre as much as possible.

There she sat watching and I watched her. I could only appreciate this 1.5 hours when Elaine Kudo and I were in the same space watching Washington Ballet’s 10/30/15’s performance of Balanchine & Beyond. MS Kudo’s performance had mesmerized me in Twyla Tharp’s Sinatra Suite years ago so much so that I required dancers at my school to watch it.
Tonight, I found myself moving in an unexpected space between yesterday and tonight. This performance was a seamless merger of what I THOUGHT I knew and what I THINK I know now. The brilliant sensibilities of Septine Weber were once again confirmed, the (OMG!) dancers and choreographers jumpstarted my life, and the Howard University dancers rocked my existence. This performance was exactly what I needed and, perhaps, what we ALL need.
Thank you, MS Kudo. Thank you, Mr. Weber. Thank you, choreographers. Thank you, THANK YOU, THANK YOU dancers. Thank you, costumers. Thank you, lighting designers. Thank you, stage managers. Thank you, producers. Thank you, technicians. Thank you, support staff. Thank you, box office. Thank you, composers. Thank you, Washington Ballet supporters. AND… thank you, Tupac.
I appreciate you all in my life.

I love this place more and more every time I go. I’m probably the furthest thing from being a ballerina but I come for the Jete Society’s social events called Beer, Ballet, and Bubbly (see
). It’s awesome cause you get to watch these AMAZING athletes practice a few feet away from you with no bells and whistles. Then they give you beer, champagne, and yummy food from Whole Foods :)
