In DC for a day, downtown, and wanting something that wasn’t a soup/​salad/​sandwich chain. Here a Pret, there a Chopt, everywhere Au Bön Pain!
Thanks to my friend’s keen eye, we noticed Lighter Side and ran for the entrance. It’s a small café that caters to a lunch crowd, where the featured meal is bulgogi, a Korean dish. You can also get chicken and pork dishes and sushi. Prices ran about $ 8-​$ 10 a meal, and the meals are pretty hearty.
I ordered the bulgogi and my friend had a sushi box (4 pieces of California Roll, rice, and teriyaki chicken). The food was rather bland and I used a lot of soy and sriracha to attempt dressing it. My friend didn’t like her chicken — it was dry and didn’t taste like teriyaki. But the lady behind the counter was very nice and replaced the chicken with more sushi.
I don’t live in DC, but if you work downtown and need a lunch change of pace, go check this place out! Plus it’s right outside of the MacPherson Metro stop!

A bit expensive for an eatery. Food is just okay. Also disappointed that she charged me $ 1 on my card when I swapped kim-​chi for tofu even though I just brought them 2 new customers. I will not visit again.

i was so excited to see KOREAN food outside (literally) the metro stop at McPherson square!
Then I got a sushi lunchbox. and I got sick. I specifically asked if it was fresh, and he said yep. I believed. Bc I am Korean too.
No mandoo, which was what I was really hungry for.
