I need to come back for their happy hours that have free FOOD!(wings, sandwiches, veggies), 5 – 6:30, M-F) I just like the décor of this place. old school… Too bad coronas are $ 6.88 … if you can get happy hour prices here, I think it’s good. Otherwise it’s a little silly to be paying $ 7 for a normal beer in a mostly empty bar in the middle of practically nowhere. I’ll be back though.

NOTE: This Review is for the Engine Room ~ the club inside of the Channel Inn. I wish I could give it ZERO stars! One member in our group ordered a soda. At $ 4.35, the coke was delivered without ice! The service is absolutely terrible and slow! It seems the waitress likes to sit at the bar and talk to other employees, all of whom are nonchalant and have the appearance of being unkempt. At one point, the waitress even raised her voice at one in our group. And then there’s the Manager. He is rude, mean and unapologetic for being so. All in all, with a party of 36, the general impression received by us was that the staff and manager acted as if they were doing us a favor. A major hot spot in DC for many years; this place has now devolved and is falling/has fallen into the big abyss. Making matters worse, this is the second time they provided service that was thoroughly lacking even a smattering of professionalism, decorum. In January, our group, that time numbering more than 60, were extremely underwhelmed by the service. Interestingly, the same manager was rude then too. The band who appears there on Saturdays is AWESOME. The crab cakes are very good. The drinks impressive. It is sad then, that our group will never darken their doorstep again. They can thank the holier than thou manager for that, as well as the slow and slovenly waitress.

The«Engine Room» is the bar area that is accessed through the lobby of the hotel. I’ve never stayed in a room here, I’ve only been in the bar to see one of my co-workers, who is one of the regular artists there that sing live for the crowd. The Engine Room is grown and sexy! Meow! Rawrr! Arf! Arf! And all that jazz. The crowd is older and the type who listened and grooved to Marvin Gaye and Earth Wind and Fire back in the day. I think if you’re under 45, they’ll card you here. This is for mature audiences only! Ha! But boy will you have a good time. Their cover bands are excellent and they can get the crowd up and dancing in two lyrics by the Supremes. Which is usually not a problem, because they’re not here to fight… they just wanna have fun!
