I think there is often a correlation between square feet and quality of coffee. I usually get the best coffee at the smallest shops. So I was looking forward to trying this little shop that has seating for one. You read that right. Unfortunately I wasn’t wowed. The one star is for what they got right– sparkling clean shop, great location and very reasonable prices. The coffee and service are what cost them the other stars. Uninspired flavor and scalding hot. So hot it cooked the milk to the point that it coagulated. I showed the worker and asked her to remake it. She was not impressed. She reluctantly made another and told me they were closing, making it clear it was time for me to leave. The second cup was awful, although it was served cooler. I threw it away outside.

I’ve consistently come here for about four years because it’s just off my bus stop on H. They’re always fast and friendly. When they’re busy, you can tell they bust their asses in this tiny joint to make sure everyone is taken care of. Huge plus: their breakfast sandwiches are more affordable than other places in the area. By affordable, I mean actually reasonable. That bacon, egg, and cheese on a croissant has helped cured many a hangover. I enjoy their specialty drinks– the white raspberry mocha and hazelnut dream are my favorites. I’m inspired to write this review because it’s just long overdue. But really moreso because lately I’ve been getting the matcha latte(hot or iced works) and I’m kind of obsessed.

Horrendous bitter coffee. Terribly burnt, which is the roast that is preferred when beans are stale. Wouldn’t recommend the Java here to my worst enemy. Ugh.

This place is excellent! The two ladies who work at the shop are very friendly, and very dependable. I work at the law firm next door, and whenever we are open, they are there to help us get through the day with their great coffee and sandwiches. I also recommend trying their ginger tea, very soothing for colds and freezing days.

This place is really dependable, reasonably priced and quick; the staff is very friendly. I just get regular coffee(they have several brews available, the mocha java is my favorite) it’s there, ready to go and always good. This place isn’t anything fancy but a cut above the other places around it. Given the dearth of nice places in this area, I recommend it to grab a coffee on the way to work. Heads up there is a $ 3 min on credit cards.

I love this little place — and the two ladies who are always in the place are delightful. Coffee is good, and the food is fresh. In fact, my only complaint is that I get charged extra for choosing a breakfast sandwich on an english muffin instead of toast. Give this place a chance, especially if you’re tired of the Starbucks hegemony.

I LOVE this place and I don’t even go for the coffee or the espress! I order the Vegetarian sandwich which has cheese, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and onions and it comes with chips and a pickle for $ 5.29(including tax). I get it with swiss cheese and no onions and it’s just a great sandwich. There are usually two ladies behind the counter who are super friendly. They have had my order memorized for months and ask if I want my usual when I walk in. Sometimes they have homemade granola bars or cookies and they always have fresh fruit or veggies. You really can’t beat a sandwich, chips, and a pickle for $ 5.29 in this area and the best part is that your money goes to a small, family run business instead of many of the chain options around metro center. If you’re in the area and aren’t looking for anything fancy, you should definitely give this place a try!

I went to get a latte today with an Entertainment Book coupon for 50% off a beverage item. They told me it was new ownership and they weren’t going to accept my coupon. There was no sign that said new ownership or no sign that said they weren’t honoring the coupon. I felt this was bad business. It’s a shame, because I work around the corner, but I probably won’t return.

Stopped by for the first time about a month ago and now I make sure I am there 3 times a week. It’s a tiny little café and they have great espresso drinks that I consume regularly. They are always pleasent and I wish it was right downstairs from work instead of being in my commute path. If you have heard of Pinkberry aka Crackberry… You will be happy to see that they have the same machine and yogurt and call it Angelberry. I would have one a day if I were closer. They have flavors but I like the plain yogurt taste and love the fruit toppings you can get. This place is a great little place and they now have a regular!

2.5 stars Frogurt continues it’s swift conquest of the Metro DC area! Last week, I noticed several people walking out of this place with some sort of frozen dessert with fruit pieces as I walked past. Frogurt? Froyo? Ice cream? I made a mental note to investigate further. The name of the game here is Angelberry. They have plain, mango, and plain/mango swirl. I figured I would get the swirl to try a taste of both flavors, and didn’t see the fruit stuff so I accidentally told them I didn’t want any. Oops. This one is very mild. Not too sour, not too sweet. You could call it a bit bland, but I guess refreshing would be the better word as it doesn’t leave you needing something to drink to wash your mouth out once you’re done. It is a bit icier overall than how I remember other frogurts. I tried to taste the original and the mango separately, but I really couldn’t figure out much of a difference. Maybe the mango was a little less creamy and a little tangier? At $ 2.50 for a generous size small(sans fruit though), pretty cheap and tasty. Next time I’ll actually get some toppings. If you’re downtown and don’t/can’t get to Georgetown or Dupont, it is worth a try.

Not too shabby, Coffee Espress! Just stopped by for the first time, and was met with a pleasant, very little coffee stop. It’s your pretty standard no-frills grab and go situation: small selection of donuts, pastries, pre-sliced bagels, fruits, coffee, and juices. Two very nice ladies were behind the counter when I walked and made sure to tell me – several times – of their $ 1.79 coffee and donut special. Okay, fine, I’ll do it. $ 1.97 after tax(and several more reminders of the special…) and I have a small coffee and cake donut that tastes like it just might be a Krispy Kreme. In fact, this may be obvious, but I’d be surprised to find out that any of the baked goods are prepared in house. But that’s fine, I just want some good, quick food in the morning and that’s what this place is for. And, the coffee is quite good. Not really sure what is going on here as it was just served from the standard push-top carafe, but this is ain’t no folgers in my cup. No, no, this is the better part of waking up.(Too far?) Come to think of it, I did dip my donut before consuming, so perhaps that’s what did it? Regardless, if you’re on your way to work in the area, or if you’re like me and need to leave the office for a short, inconspicuous amount of time because you woke up late and had no time for breakfast… this is the perfect spot. Just don’t take that coconut donut… I’ve been thinking of going back for that thing all morning.
