The Body Mechanix

I’ve been going to Alan Stein (Body Mechanix) for the better part of a year. I am VERY picky when it comes to massage, and Alan is one of the best I’ve ever been to. I see him monthly, but if I won the lottery it would be much more often! Alan really takes time to get to know his clients, and the massages are very individualized. He’s also a really nice person. I am very happy to have found Body Mechanix!

Easy going, professional, very skilled, easy to find office. You’re not paying for lavender-​infused water; you’re paying for someone who knows what he’s doing. (There are candles, though — don’t worry, it’s not too clinical.)

I received a gift certificate to Body Mechanix (Alan Stein) and thought I had used it a long time ago – turns out I had not. I called to make an appointment but we missed each other so he gave me his e-​mail and we booked it online. Parking was fairly easy and I got there early. Alan sat me down before my 1 hour massage and talked to me for a few minutes about what I was looking for. No unnecessary paperwork, just direct information. The session lasted over 1 hour (normally people try to finish it early and use talking time as part of the hour). The massage was excellent and I would love to return again. The only thing stopping me is the price. While $ 95 is probably fair and reasonable, it is just not in my budget for monthly massages. However, you do get what you pay for as the massage was quality!

Alan is great! i have serious neck pain pretty often and have been now about 4 times and it always helps so much. This is not a spa setting but his office is very clean and comfy. He is very professional and definitely gives the best massage i have ever had. I think the rates are very reasonable for DC– and it looks like there is a deal through Unilocal.There is street parking but it is also directly off the Tenleytown metro. You do need to remember to bring cash as he doesn’t take credit cards.

Alan was hired last minute (unnamed company/​person that was scheduled canceled with less than a week’s notice) for staff/​administration appreciation week. The staff here each got a 10 minute massage. As I didn’t book him, I have no idea what his rates are, but I’m letting HR know that he’s worth every penny! Everyone I’ve talked to so far says he’s the best we’ve had at our office (they do this for us every year). He gave each person a 10-​minute chair massage, and everyone is walking around with huge smiles. Very professional and courteous; very relaxing music. He asked if I wanted him to focus on any areas, and he followed through with what I asked. I don’t feel too loose, nor am I sore from him overworking any areas. Best of all I’m no longer tense! Just perfect.

I feel so fortunate to have found Alan at The Body Mechanix. Seriously, an hour massage with Alan is probably worth a combination of three or four other stress releiving appointments — from therapy to yoga, to a good long chat with a best friend. He is truly the most professional massage therapist I have ever found — and he really listens carefully to what you have to say; where you feel like you might have tension, stress or tightness — but also makes sure no other part of your body is neglected. If you are an athlete, someone under constant stress that makes your body stiff and tight, or just want a great massage — Alan is definitely the guy you want to see. You won’t regret it.
