This place is very awful. When we first come in, everything went smoothly and it obvious the waitress know we are deaf because my friends and I are talking in sign language. As my friend and I ordered food, we couldn’t finish it so I made gesture with the waitress that I want the food in a box since we can’t finish. Thirty mins gone by, I felt like where is our box of food. Instead she threw out like 75% of the food portions of it. Doesn’t she have common sense that 75 percent of the plate go to the box of leftover. So my friend say she want half of the money back since they threw the food in the garbage. Luckily this nice lady who is a customer help us negotiated. Il not set foot in this place again because they don’t know how to accommodate deaf people at all.

The food was relatively tasty with good portions, but not gluttonous. Unfortunately, the service was atrocious. I actually had to go to the bar myself because we were sitting without water for so long. The service the rest of the night was just as slow. They forgot condiments we asked for and didn’t put down silverware until after they put down food. We were ignored after we got food, and they never asked about dessert, which we wanted — they just dropped the check. When we inquired about dessert, they were out of half of them as well as being out of espresso. I would not recommend it just due to the poor service. If I were only rating the food, it would have received 3.5 stars.

mandatory tip? the service was sooooo bad! never going here again!!! nobody was at the restaurant, it was empty and still it took them an hour or more to get our main entrée. The water was not refilled took them minutes to get me my water. There was no hot water which would be nice in this cold weather, instead you have to buy a tea to get hot water. The waitress are rude and sarcastic. Speaks their native tongue in front of their costumers, I mean they can but in front of your costumers though loudly? The food is ok, the garlic beef is good which I ordered. The thai iced tea tastes like it’s from a sachet. It was pretty bad thai iced tea. There are a lot of food that’s good for your buck. a 3.5 star restaurant? It should be 2. I’m sorry.

The staff here is incredibly rude and disrespectful. I visited this poor excuse of an establishment last night with some friends. There were maybe 4 other people in the restaurant total. Our waiter was rude, never checked on us, kept walking away after saying but two words to us. We asked for the manager, who never came, and our waiter decided to ignore us into we left. WILLNEVERGOTHEREAGAIN. Instead we found a better Thai food place around the corner.

It is unfortunate that I have to leave this review, because it is a convenient place to grab lunch or dinner if you’re in the downtown DC/Verizon Center area. A few coworkers and I decided to go here for lunch on a Friday and were presented with menus. All of us chose chicken items from the lunch specials menu and were expecting a bill for $ 12 + taxes/tips each. Two of us got a $ 12 bill while another coworker received one for $ 15. Thinking this was a mistake, my coworker called our waitress over to ask about the discrepancy. She explained that even though the item ordered was displayed on the lunch specials menu, it was in fact, a «special item»(kai kua chicken) and therefore had a higher price. When we objected and said that it seems obvious that the dishes displayed on the lunch special page had no prices other than the base prices(10 for veggies/tofu, 12 for chicken, etc.) above, and the only item which clearly had a different price was clearly marked, it was easy to assume the $ 12 price. Our waitress continued to disagree vehemently and was arrogant enough to state, «did you ask how much it was before you ordered?». When we asked for the manager to settle the dispute, she said«I am the manager!». A minor $ 3 difference is not the issue here. The right thing to do would have been to adjust the price for my coworker’s meal and follow-up by clearly marking any oddly priced items on the menu. Instead, this is a place none of us will ever return to(there is a much nicer Thai place just across the street where they are always unfailingly polite — Absolute Thai).

I went to this restaurant with about 12 of my students of Georgetown University. Courteous service and great food. You can also order Sushi from the sister restaurant. Food was very tasty and I had Ka prow. Impressed by their ability to give seperate checks. Was not crowded on a saturday afternoon.

The food was ok, not great, but the thing that bothered us most is they added an 18% tip in the bill and then gave us the receipt to sign with the total with the tip added in and the line blank for a tip. We felt they were being dishonest trying to get double tips. We only had a group of 2 adults and 3 children and it didn’t seem right to have the tip added. We won’t go back.

I went to lunch today at 12:30 just before my movie started. Service is very slow here. But this is about the fourth time I’ve eaten here before going to the movies. This place has never been good: drop dead wait for food, tasteless food, tiny child size portions, expensive and now horribly rude waiters! The portion sizes are very small for the price, but it is convenient. After my experience there today, I will never return. I ordered the teriyaki chicken lunch bento box. The portions were perfect for a child. The chicken was so tough, I almost had to ask for a knife. This chicken wasn’t tender and certainly wasn’t cooked over coals or any type of BBQ. The chicken teriyaki was tasteless! The salad was minuscule and the teaspoon dressing was just poured over a ½ cup of leaves. The rice portion was about a tea cup size! Really, all this abundance for $ 14.00 dollars! Bye Felicia! When l left the waitress came after me yelling Sir, Sir! She showed me the suggested tip amount on the bill and she told me I had to leave 18% tip. I told her I left her a tip. In a heavy accent she told me «in this country we leave a tip!» I told her I left her tip and I said«in this country we don’t chase someone outside a restaurant and demand someone give them more money.» She gave me a dirty look and said in perfect English«shame on you.» I was shocked at her behavior and I didn’t have time to go into that in this a country no one has to leave a tip at all. Nasty servers and nasty food!

We came in at off peak lunch or dinner hours both times, so the staff was fairly indifferent to our presence. However, the Chicken Satay is very good. The Bang Bang shrimp were not spicy, and were mostly bread. It is conveniently located near both the metro and movie theater if you want to grab a quick bite before the show.

I came here pre-Caps game — looking to get some beer and food in me before entering the Verizon Center and being limited to $ 11 beers. The staff at Thai Chili handled the chaos of the Cap’s crowd very well; seating us within 5 mins. They also were running a promotion for 5 beers for $ 20(prefect for pregaming). Fried dumplings and Moo Yang were tasty and ready quickly.

This restaurant is located inside the Verizon center. I stumbled upon it leaving Bar Louie and was pleasantly surprised. I was actually the only patron in the entire place, so was a tad skeptical. Ordered the Drunken Noodle, hot & extra saucy. The dish came out as ordered and it was delicious. A great portion size with a lot of chicken as well as noodles. The waitress was very nice and would definitely come back to try another dish on their extensive menu.

Going to this place for years. Authentic and delicious Thai food. Best Thai food in Penn quarter. Highly recommended by someone that lived in Thailand.

I really want to give this place 1.5 stars but since it isn’t an option, 1 stars it is. I went last night after the suggestion of a friend. I’ve never even notice this place before even after patronizing every other establishment nearby. It’s located inside the same venue as Bar Louie and the movie theater. Initially, our waiter, a young female was seemed nice and friendly. She seated us at a table and brought our drinks promptly. I asked for lemon with my water but she forgot to bring the lemon out. It didn’t bother me because I didn’t end up drinking the water anyway. I ordered a mai thai and spring rolls for an appetizer. My friend ordered wonton? and drank water. After a few minutes a male arrived and asked if we were ready to order. We both ordered the shrimp pad thai, I opted out of peanuts, bean sprouts and shallot while he got everything and asked for it to be extra spicy. I’ve ordered Pad Thai several of times but at this place, they charge you extra for meat. If I knew that the shrimp wasn’t included I wouldn’t have gotten it since I’m a vegetarian but I didn’t tell them to leave it off because I planned to give the shrimp to my friend. After our food arrived, our waitress came back over and asked if everything was okay. I informed her that there were flies flying around our food and she said it was because their doors were open. She didn’t offer to move out further away from the open environment, so I was a little annoyed but didn’t complain. My food was rather dry and lacked the flavor I’m used to with Pad Thai, I asked for soy sauce which was brought to me promptly. She checked on us again to see if we were fine and we told said yes. We asked for the bill and this is where things really started to go left. My friend went to the bathroom and she brought the bill over, I noticed that she forgot to add my Mai Thai so I informed her. She brought the new bill back with the added $ 10 before my friend arrived back at the table. He paid with one card that was declined. He asked if their machine was working properly and she stated, «yes sir, your card doesn’t work.» He gave her another card while he called his bank to find out why the transaction was declined. While on the phone, the waitress came back over and stated the second card was declined. At this point I could tell my friend was becoming upset so I reached to pay but he told me don’t worry and gave her cash. She came back a few minutes later informing us that he didn’t give enough cash, he gave an extra $ 5 and she said, «what about tip?» He asked how much money did I give you, and she told him he only gave $ 60.00 but the bill was $ 58 and change, so he said, «are you asking about your tip? How much tip do you want?» She replied«whatever you want but not less than 10%.» All of this is going on while he is on the phone with his bank. He gave her an additional couple of dollars and she shooked her head and rolled her eyes. When he got off the phone he was viably upset and asked the male waiter to speak with the manager. The manager came out a few minutes later and he explained what happened and expressed that he was upset that while he was on the phone with his bank, she kept coming back over and her demand for a tip made him uncomfortable. He also stated that we were still seated, so she should have been a bit more patient until he got off the phone because it was apparent we weren’t going to leave. While speaking with the manager, our waitress interrupted and stated, «sir you gave two bad cards» the manager cut her off and the manager apologized for the waitress behavior. So to recap: — I didn’t receive lemon in my water like I asked for. — They gave me bean sprouts after I asked for them to be removed. The food was dry and lacked flavor. — There were flies flying around our food while we attempted to eat. — Our waitress was rude and unprofessional during our checkout process. This place is a step up from a carry out place. If you’re looking for some quick Asian food near gallery place, I’d recommend going somewhere else unless you are already going to the movies.

I get it: it’s Chili’s, but with Thai. Notwithstanding the underlying infringement issues, this restaurant really should have been called Thai Chili’s. Everything about the place(harsh lighting; ample booth seating; glossy, well-worn menus with bright pictures of menu items; large, colorful cocktails; mediocre food and service) screams mid-American chain. Met here after work with a large group for a lunch-and-learn-style chat with a couple of high-profile Congressional attorneys.(This place is great for large meet-ups because of its central location and willingness to handle separate checks.) Not long after we placed our order, the food came out. I was surprised by how quickly the items were prepared given the size of our group. It was somewhat annoying that the servers had neglected to remember who ordered what. As a result, the speakers were disrupted as meals were loudly auctioned off(«Who ordered the chicken satay… Who ordered the lettuce wraps?»). Later, payment would be handled much the same way(«Whose credit card is this?»). I had the drunken noodles with chicken. It was perfectly adequate, the spice level was just right, but they were a little stingy with the chicken I think. I’ve had better for sure. The portion of noodles was fairly generous, so I was definitely full at the end of the meal. If I had come across this place when I lived in Oklahoma, I would probably be raving about how good it is. But the simple fact is there is much better Thai to be found in DC. Good location, decent food, but I don’t see myself going out of my way to return.

Thai Chili makes for an alright meal if you’re near the Verizon Center and want to go somewhere not crowded for some okay Thai food. A close friend and I were looking to eat some ethnic food and settled on Thai. Just a few blocks away from the National mall, in well, an actual mall, Thai Chili made sense. The place was relatively empty, which was kind of surprising on a Saturday. I ordered the red curry with tofu, which turned out just okay. The curry seemed like kind of an afterthought, poured on top of tofu that was deep fried. Each piece of tofu was mostly breading and then perhaps some kind of squishy tofu center. I will say that there’s a special place in my heart for restaurants that don’t charge for extra rice. Thanks, Thai Chili.

I visited Thai Chili with a friend recently and we really enjoyed the dinner there. The restaurant is located conveniently in Gallery Place, right next to the Chinatown/Gallery Place metro station and inside the same complex as the movie theater and bowling alley. We visited on a Monday evening and the place wasn’t crowded at all. My friend ordered the chicken pad thai and she really enjoyed it. I ordered a house salad with peanut sauce and a Tom Kha soup. My soup and salad were extremely filling and the pad thai was also an excellent portion. Their service was quick and efficient and the restaurant was clean and had a good ambiance. Not my favorite Thai place ever, but very convenient if you happen to be in Chinatown /Gallery Place anyway and are craving Thai Food.

2.5 stars for food quality & service. I wanted to finally try Daikaya, but upon arrival, realized I did not have time for the long line, so upon chatting with some others in queue, we all decided to abandon our plans, and I followed their recommendation to Thai Chili. I ordered Chicken Pad Kee Mao because I thought it would be one of the easiest and most simple dishes to make reasonably well, however it arrived doused in oil. As in, would you like some noodles with your oil? It was gross. Also, the flavoring was uninteresting. The tomatoes were mushy. It was not great. Had I not been hungry and running almost late for a movie, perhaps I would have passed on eating it altogether. Sadly, this was not the worst Drunken Noodle I’ve ever experienced, hence the 2.5 stars(see review for a Thai restaurant in Syracuse, NY which used Italian noodles instead of Thai). As for service, apart from ordering and receiving my meal, the server never checked in on me again. In fact, I had to flag down the manager to get my check.

It’s been 2 years since we visited and I’m glad to say the food quality seemed to have improved from the last time. We wanted a quick meal before going to the movies and this was it; we had chicken satay, some spring rolls and some tofu dish. All seemed very tasty and in particular the vegetables seemed fresh, and the sauces were fairly tasty and fresh tasting. We also got a light beer and a martini(decent size) and basically felt we were paying downtown prices and getting fair to good downtown food(for gourmet level food go elsewhere!). This time we checked out the bathroom and found it was wheelchair accessible BUT they had packed some spare chairs in the corridor to the bathrooms, causing space problem for wheelchair users(a very common error in restaurants, and also illegal!)
