TestMasters

A friend of mine told me to take TestMasters, and it was the best decision I made for my law school preparation. The course takes a unique approach which not only helps with LSAT preparation, but also teaches students how to think critically beyond the test. At the beginning of the course I was struggling severely with Logic Games, scoring 50% or less on the sections. By the time the test came I was scoring 90% or above on Logic Games sections, which was a huge confidence boost. Along with the great structure of the course, the instructors are incredibly helpful! Each instructor scored a 170 or above on the LSAT so you can be sure they know what they’re talking about. My instructor Shannon Sanders was not only great with fully explaining in-​class generic questions, she also went out of her way to help us with figure out a more personalized approach, and to answer any law school application questions we had. Lastly, I sustained an injury during my preparation, and with TestMasters online resource center I was able to keep up with the lessons, and be well prepared by the time I returned to class. I could not be more pleased with my experience at TestMasters.

Like half the under-​30 crowd in DC I have aspirations for law school and decided to take an LSAT prep class. Several people recommended Testmasters to me as the best.
Instructors were excellent (and after talking to classmates and friends who had taken other prep courses, it sounded like they were good overall) and easily accessible after hours (including going over the highlights of a couple of lessons I missed while on vacation). It was fairly easy to go to a different class if you needed to make up a missed class. Also, seems like they have quite a few locations in the area aside from downtown DC, inclduing College Park and Arlington. Members area of the website is fairly comprehensive.
However, it’s not cheap. When I took it this summer, the cost was $ 1,450 (half of the cost if you’re retaking the class). I’m on a civil servant’s salary, so I didn’t even entertain the idea of private tutoring because I knew it’d be out of my budget. And if you decide to retake the LSAT after the class is over or postpone taking it until after the class is over, it costs an extra $ 300 to retain access to the website.
Overall, however, highly recommended if you choose to the the commercial prep course study route for the LSAT.

If you’re going to study for the LSAT and take a prep course in the Washington DC area, Testmasters is probably your best bet. I have a couple of qualms, however, but several Law School guidance counselors have told me that they’re the most comprehensive LSAT prep out there.
Their instructors are excellent, but it is pricey. $ 1,250 for the course, and and $ 150 an hour for private tutoring. Further, if you decide to either cancel your score or take it again they don’t let you access the members area of the website unless you pay another fee. By contrast, I think courses offered by test prep companies like Kaplan will actually let you come back to class and keep studying.
So that’s one thing about them that sorta urked me.
