There really aren’t a lot of spots for sushi lunch in Georgetown. Having worked in the area for three years, I have come to depend on Sushi To Go for my fix of fresh sushi. The store is TINY– once I saw a couple come in and eat inside and it was extremely awkward because there is standing room for like, five people max. You can also call ahead to pick up an order. The food is very solid. Not the best sushi I’ve ever had, but also not the worst. I usually get the roll combo or the sushi deluxe and a miso. It’s kind of steep, usually around $ 14 for a lunch. It’s definitely not an everyday treat. It’s also nice to go in and see the married couple who run the store. You can tell they care about the shop and it’s nice to support locally owned businesses.

Nope. Nopenopenope. The service is fast, but the rolls are teeny for the price and the spicy tuna was completely overwhelmed by sriracha(?!) sauce! I really want to rate them better, but I just can’t.

For the price, this place does a really good job. It isn’t the best sushi in the world, but is better than many casual sushi eateries(of the type found in suburban strip malls or touristy areas in the city). I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the fish and rice in the nigiri I received in my «Sushi Delux» order(6 pieces of a California roll and 5 pieces of nigiri), although the California roll was average. You can actually taste the fish, which wasn’t freezing(a good thing for me), but still tasted very fresh. I could see the chef’s careful molding of the sushi rice, which was freshly made, and taste the subtly vinegared rice complimenting the smooth richness of the fish. They also have decent lunch specials under $ 10, which makes this place an all around great fast take-away spot. If you’re looking for something light, but filling, in Georgetown, this is your place to go.

Very nice people, fast service, wonderful food. I will definitely be back! Everything is fresh and delicious, and if you have substitutions the chef is very open to changing around the ingredients in your order.

This is truly another gem in DC. I love finding all these little hidden gems, it’s like a game! :) Sushi to go is a no frills sushi and noodles café, literally 6 bar stool seats for those dining in(refer to café name). They place magazines for your reading pleasure. Menu is limited but very sufficient — has a few rolls, noodles *udon*, and sushi. no tempura here. Chirashi was $ 16 with generous helping of tuna, salmon, yellowtail, and roe(possibly more I did not look) Beef and chicken teriyaki was about $ 11. The fish was fresh(no fishy or slimy taste) and the rice perfectly moist. We equally enjoyed our portion of teriyaki meats(a little salty, so ask for sauce on the side if you’re low sodium) — which were tender and flavorful. Definitely come by for a cheap eat and take it out to the waterfront just steps away. :)

Finding an affordable place to grab lunch in Georgetown while on the go can be tricky. There are a ton of great restaurants but you just don’t find many grab and go places like you would if you were downtown. Sushi To Go is definitely on the more expensive end for the portion size but it is made in front of you and it’s pretty decent. I don’t mind paying an extra couple of dollars to support a small business which is why I keep going back.

Really quite good and not at all overpriced considering where it is at, which is not hard to find, but won’t be seen from a car on any road. The sushi itself is excellent and a little spicier than most I’ve had, perhaps they are using real wasabi. Also they are friends with Owen Wilson which is awesome in itself.

This place is hidden and hard to find. It’s on the C&O canal path and it’s easy to miss. I’ve recently switched jobs and am working down by the water and coming from the heart of the business district, it’s been an adjustment food wise. There aren’t tons of options for quick, inexpensive lunches around here, so I have been searching. I walked in and the place is clearly lives up to it’s name«to-go» as there are a few stools and that’s it. I was the only one there at 1pm so I was hoping that wasn’t an omen. I reviewed the sushi menu and ordered a Philadelphia roll, a spicy tuna roll and inari. I waited around 10 minutes and paid just under $ 15.00. Not too shabby. The place looks like its run by a husband and wife team — not overly chatty, but polite and professional. While I was there a few more folks came in and there were some customers sitting down outside by the canal since it was nice day. So, the sushi: looked fine, tasted decent and no major complaints. I just finished eating, so will update later if needed. The Philadelphia roll had avocado which was a nice touch — it wasn’t fishy and had a good balance. I would definitely order this again. The Spicy tuna roll relied a bit too much on the wasabi but it wasn’t bad. I might try something new first before going back to this roll. The inari was middle of the road. The size was good as was the consistency. I would definitely go back to give it another try — it was a quick, easy, light lunch. Glad this place is around.

I’ve been looking for cheap take-out lunch places besides TJs. This place is exactly the sort of hidden(by the canal… adorbs) little(tiny) sushi bar I idealize, eventually find and then can’t quite trust. I’ve never had the sushi(There’s a picture of Owen Wilson with the Sushi chef, so I’m sure it’s fine.). I’ve just done the teriyaki chicken(ok) and the udon soup(amazing, pricey). Some of the more complicated items can take awhile to make, but you won’t be in too much trouble if you just walk in without calling.

Simply a hidden gem. It may not be the most fancy spot or has the most fancy menu, but it is fresh and totally worth every dollar paid! I have to say it is cheap but the quality and amount are awesome for Georgetown area. Will be back for sure!

I really liked Sushi to Go. It has a great Georgetown location and the sushi is among the best I’ve had. It had a very fresh taste as compared to comparable offerings around town. I’ll certainly be back.

Sushi is one of my favorite foods and once you find a place you love, it’s hard to go anywhere else. I love this place. The owners are the cutest couple and extremely nice. The only thing I don’t like is that they are not open on weekends.

Good, clean, fresh sushi. What’s not to love? The place is a tiny little hole-in-the-wall. I went at lunch time and there was no wait. My food came out quickly and tasted great. The menu isn’t too expensive but it’s a great go-to sushi place.

This place is the definition of a no-hassle hole-in-the-wall, but in a prime location in Georgetown! Its right on the canal. Going there with a group is probably not a good idea, but passing by with a date, picking up some good sushi and sitting near the canal, in the park or on the nearby waterfront would be a pretty good way to spend your night.

I’ve been here a few times, and have always been satisfied with what I got. It’s a small hole-in-the-wall place, which means that if you’re one of a bunch of people with the same idea, you may wait a while. Today, I ordered the Udon, thinking it would be fast(being used to places that keep a whole pot ready). It wasn’t. It was hot and huge when it was done, and filling and tasty, so I’m not mad that I had to wait, but it wasn’t the quick in-and-out I was hoping for. But sushi isn’t SUPPOSED to be fast. We forget in this day of pre-made platters at the grocery store that sushi should be made to order, and hand-crafted by someone with skill. So, you know, I just kept repeating that to myself. The two things that bother me most about this place, and that reduce the stars: 1) their website is outdated and inaccurate. The«order online» link takes you to Eat24, which doesn’t actually seem to work with them anymore(at least, I can’t find them on the page). Which is a shame, because the place is 5 minutes from my office and being able to order online would be nice, especially if I am in a hurry. But worse than that is the fact that the prices on their menu are not what you’ll be charged when you get there. Add $ 1 – 2 to everything you see to get a more accurate idea of how much you’ll be spending(obviously, the menu inside is accurate, but if you’re basing your decision on cost, it’s nice to be able to plan ahead). 2) Like many small mom-and-pop shops, the internal order isn’t always clear. If there’s no one there, you can just go right up and order. But there’s no clear line or indication of who’s ordered and who hasn’t. The sushi chef usually knows, and he asked me if I’d ordered, which was nice, but I like my take-out to be slightly better organized. If you’re in the neighborhood and you want sushi, certainly check it out. They don’t have any where to dine in; if it’s a nice day, take it down to the waterfront and enjoy the Potomac while you eat.

Not huge menu but they are locked right off the old locks. You can pick up some maki and grab one of the many benches outside and just enjoy the view. The rolls are inexpensive and easy to understand haha :) Thanks and if I’m back to Georgetown, I’ll probably be back here :)

This place is tucked away on a non-street(Google Maps doesn’t identify it as such), and that’s because it’s just a walking pathway along the canal that runs through Georgetown. You would never know this place existed unless you happened to walk by. Since I work really close to this place, it’s a super convenient lunch option to go. There is no sitting room. It’s a relatively small menu. A handful of rolls. Just a couple types of sushi and sashimi. And some Japanese basics. There are combo menu items that you can order quickly and grab and go! The sushi quality is what you would expect of such a place. Nothing great, but it’s sushi-to-go. You get it because it’s quick and easy. You don’t go here for any other experience but that.

I was annoyed because I paid $ 30 for a dinner I should have paid $ 15 for. I mean, I ordered sushi to be delivered… from a place called«Sushi To Go». I suppose I was asking for it. The nigiri wasn’t bad quality(hamachi, salmon, unagi) but the portions were obscenely small. In retrospect, I would have rather gone to Whole Foods, bought sashimi-grade fish and made the rice myself. Come to think of it, I WILL do that next time. I just wish there was a sushi spot in Georgetown that wasn’t ridiculously overpriced. But while I’m at it I might as well wish for a pony, and a barbie, and a new car…
