Description

Specialties

A classic American establishment with a neighborhood feeling where all are welcome, from the University Student, Attorney’s, Tourist, Civil Servants & on and on– all are welcome at Stoney’s.

History

Established in 1968.

In May of 1968, two guys named Steve & Tony opened a restaurant on the corner of 13th & L Street, just blocks from where our new restaurant on L St. & our other location on P. St, are located.

Since that summer in 1968, Stoney’s has endured as a neighborhood establishment through the ever-changing story of D.C. we are often asked, what kind of place is Stoney’s? That is a fair question, but not one that is possible to answer.

Stoney’s is where Washington Post reporters down pitchers of beer and wings after a long day of deadlines, a place where cops grab food on the go, hotel guest dropping in for a happy hour beer or best grilled cheese in all of the district, nearby restaurant staff decompress after a long shift on their feet, University students playing intense games of trivia and many more–

The best way to put it is «Stoney’s is a place without judgement, whatever your story is come on in and seat yourself and make our home your home»

In May of 1968, two guys named Steve & Tony opened a restaurant on the corner of 13th & L St., just blocks from where the new Stoney’s on L Street is today. It was a tense time in Washington; MLK Jr., had just been assassinated, & riots had left the city fractured & scarred.

Since the summer month in 1968, Stoney’s has endured as a neighborhood establishment through the ever-changing story of D.C.

Stoney’s is a place without judgement, whatever your story is, come on in and seat yourself and take a load off and let us make our home your home– The reason we are in this business is for you and without you there would be no Stoney’s– so thank you for letting us make our dream of serving you daily come true!
