There are 4 Starbucks locations near where I work but I always end up walking the few extra blocks to get my morning coffee from this location. My coworker and I come to this location around 10:30 to get a second cup of coffee and it’s never as crowded as the other starbucks that are around Le’Fant plaza. The staff here is friendly and always greet us when we walk through the door. We usually get in and out of this location within 5 minutes of stepping in, except when we make small talk with the baristas there.

I absolutely LOVE this location. Great Staff! I sometimes come to get coffee in the morning and the line would be out of the door, about 15 people ahead of me at least. Line moves fast and on average I get my coffee in 8 – 10 min! Awesome!

Come here and expect: lots of seating to people watch at the Capital Gallery, or have a seat to do a short meetup What I got from it: It’s a shame Starbucks locations consistently receive below average reviews. It’s possible that people are seeking perfection. Is that a great expectation? This is not Compass Coffee. This is not Tryst. This is not Wydown Coffee. This is a Starbucks that has all the regular amenities. It has plug in locations; small tables for meetups or mini workspaces; it has space for wheelchair accessibility and people to not feel like they are on top of each other while ordering coffee. This is as good as a Starbucks gets. Good job!

If you’re trying to call and place an order(perhaps a box of to-go coffee) with the phone number provided… good luck. I’ve tried multiple times today and no one is picking up the phone… You’re better off finding another Starbucks. Try L’Enfant Plaza… SMH

It’s a Starbucks. The wifi is reliable & they’re cool about letting you work here for a few hours. The coffee is good — it’s Starbucks coffee. The service is sometimes good and sometimes not so good.

A true Starbucks drinker, I know what great service baristas can give you. Understandably, this place is located in a prime area where there are many tourists and being connected to a hotel, gives this place a long line of customers waiting for their java. However, knowing that your location is prime, having the key things in stock should be a given. Not even after 12PM, they were already out of many key ingredients needed for a regular latte.

The service at this Starbucks has never been particularly stellar. I’d say that 50% of the employees just go through the motions and are neither great or horrible, 45% are horrible, and only 5% provide good customer service. This morning however the service was beyond bad, it was insulting. The line was painfully long, as it frequently is. I don’t know if this is because of volume, the efficiency of service, or both, but most of the time you come here whether it’s the morning rush or 2PM in the afternoon, there is a line. I ordered a venti ice coffee with sugar free vanilla and an everything bagel with cream cheese, both of which came out fairly quickly so I thought it was one of their better days. When I sat down, I opened by bagel to find I had received a multigrain bagel instead. Not what I ordered, but no big deal as I wasn’t in a rush and had intended to eat it in the store; at least I hadn’t walked back to the office to discover this. Since the line was still long, I went to the side of the counter(as not to interfere with those who hadn’t ordered) and got the attention of the server who took my order and told him I had ordered an everything bagel and got the wrong kind. I took one step behind the counter to hand him the bagel, then took a step back to wait for the replacement off to the side. The employee gets annoyed with me and in an irked and chastising tone says«You can’t stand back here.» I look around to see if I’m still behind the counter(which I only stepped behind to hand him the bagel I received in error) and I’m not. My feet are back in the dining area. Now I’m somewhat annoyed. He was not contrite at all about the initial error and now he’s hassling me about where I’m standing. Add to this that this particular employee is always aloof and slow whenever I’ve been there in the past, but never bad enough that I’ve felt the need to complain about it. So I respond«You don’t need to give me a hard time, I’m not behind the counter.» to which he snaps back«I’m not giving you a hard time. You can’t stand there!» So now I not only got the wrong kind of bagel, but I got scolded about where I’m standing, and now he’s arguing with me. The only reason I had to come back to the counter was because he made a mistake on my order, and even if I was in the wrong about where I was standing, he could at least act like he was sorry about the mistake and politely ask me to move. The sentence«I’m sorry, if you want to take a seat I’ll bring your bagel out to you.» would have fixed everything with no issue but he chose to be confrontational instead. I only go to this Starbucks because it’s the closest to my office, but if you can, avoid it and go to the one on 6th or in L’Enfant Plaza instead.

One star for the location, which is near the metro and VRE stations. But this Starbucks is the dirtiest that I have seen. Seriously, I’ve been to gas stations cleaner than this location. Also, there is limited selection of coffee and accessories here.

This Starbucks sucks. First, it’s probably the dirtiest one I’ve ever been to and second, they play their music WAYTOOLOUD. I imagine it’s only busy because it’s at a metro stop and there are a ton of business’ in the area.

On my 1st visit, the coffee maker was broken. Can you believe that? A Starbucks with no brewed coffee. Might as well close. The espresso maker thingy was still working, which is why it didn’t close down I guess. But no brewed coffee? I hope they get that fixed soon. But I am glad they were open. It was almost 7:00PM and I didn’t want any coffee anyway. But I did want to use the restroom and then use up the free wifi while sitting in one of those comfy shmumfy arm chairs. I got both. That’s why this Starbucks with the broken coffee maker gets 4 stars.

The three times I’ve visited this Starbucks — the coffee has always been strong, bold, robust — in other words — delicious! The place is almost always packed! Not a ton of seating available here…

Convenient to the metro and within eyeshot of the Colonial parking garage down the street. Taxis napping along the curb outside. At least the homeless guy outside the door respected our diverted eyes. Clean visible surfaces. The lady behind the counter almost forgot our receipt despite our complimenting her crazy cool Picasso nails, and we’re pretty sure she forgot the extra shot of espresso requested by Dave. Toffee mocha frappé was a terrible mistake, should’ve stuck with chai; tasted like a giant cup of death. Loitered on the pair of comfy chairs in the corner by the inside entrance until early close.

I used to go here every morning, but not anymore! They have very slow service. 9 out of 10 times there are 2 people behind the counter, about 10 people in line, and it takes me 10 minutes to get a latte. I miss the days when their employees actually moved faster than my grandmother. :-(

This was the only shop open on a sunday evening. The other starbucks were closed. Walking distance form capitol. Since i was catching up with an old friend of mine after years, the place really dint matter much. The staff were friendly and looks like every other shop. It was packed when i went but we managed to get a seat. Customers kept coming until they closed at 7(i think)

What a surprise. Capital Gallery is fiercely ultra-moderne but this Starbucks manages with a few comfy chairs, a bough of greenery and friendly staff to make it a little bit like Christmas. Not bad for a chain. When I asked about the cute little red mittens, I was told that they were for gift cards but if I wanted one, I could just take it. Well, that kind of good cheer made me buy two cards! I may spend them on myself…

This almost brand-new Starbucks at Capital Gallery is less than 50 steps and a door from the North exit of the L’Enfant Metro stop, within walking distance of the Air and Space Museum, and the Department of Education. It may seem that three Starbucks within a four-block radius is way too much. However, like the others at 550 C Street and Federal Center SW, it gets packed in the morning. Nevertheless, the staff maintains a courteous attitude and a refreshing sense of humor. I like it. Besides, the greatest place for breakfast buffet is next door. Almost one-stop shopping.
