I am amazed to see the reviews below with people complaining. I mean, really. You can get a great Groupon deal to get your teeth professionally whitened — and it actually works! Andrew was super nice and checked in periodically to see how I was doing. I was kind of concerned about the dehydration on one of my lower gums (even though I put vitamin e all over my gumline before it started) but Andrew assured that it would clear up in 10 minutes or so. He was absolutely right. My teeth are pretty white to begin with, but now they are two shades whiter! It’s advisable to not drink coffee or red wine for at least 48 hours to keep things looking bright. I really don’t understand why people have given such low ratings — bathrooms were clean, facilities were clean, things seemed sanitary, and you can schedule online.

I purchased a Groupon for the 30 minute service and it was well worth it. My teeth were whitened by six shades! Andrew was very nice and helpful. I loved the results so much I bought my brother a gift certificate.

The young man at the front desk is a fine greeter and a good salesman. His technique, however, leaves a lot to be desired. I walked out with a painful burn on my gum and lower lip. Other places apply a protective balm to the lips and gums to avoid just such accidents.

You get what you pay for. Smiling Bright certainly delivers results but it is more of a ‘do it yourself’ kinda of place. The attendant was very friendly and helpful but it is quite awkward to sit there painting your teeth with the whitening gel, drooling all over yourself while he stands there and watches.
After the awkwardness of applying the gel you sit in a private room for the allotted amount of time and every once in a while he will come check to see how you are. Overall it was a pleasant experience but certainly not for someone who is looking for an expert to do the heavy lifting.
Make sure to check: Living Social, FB, Unilocal etc for deals before you visit for the first time!

What at great place. My friends pays hundreds of $ for the same thing I got in 30min. at Smiling Bright. My smile is 4 shades brighter, the place is cute, small and serves its purposes. Max, who showed me what I had to do, to walk out of there happy was helpful and really professional. He answered all my questions and even had me book my next appointment for get 100% bright smile.

To be honest, I’ve never had my teeth whitened before, except with some home kit probably over a decade ago. My teeth are whiter. WIth that being said, I would never go back to this place.
The one thing you want when going to a place dealing with your mouth is a clean, sterile environment. I was expecting something along the lines of a dentist/​orthodontist office. This place was well below that level of expectation. And, a level of professionalism. The kid who helped me was nice enough, but he didn’t instill confidence. I realize it’s not a difficult or highly technical job, but I wasn’t expecting what looked like high schooler doing it.
The place is filthy. From the magazines in all sorts of disarray on the front table, to the bathroom that is dirtier than bathrooms I’ve seen at empty truck stops. I did a 60 minute whitening and spent that 60 minutes thinking about what i was going to write in this review because I was that repulsed.
The bathroom was disgusting. I think this is something that should be scrubbed at the start or end of every day, considering every single customer is going to go in there. It looked like it hasn’t been properly cleaned in a very long time. There was dust on the back of the toilet. A noticeable amount. Spots on the floor. The base of the toilet had urine or who knows what dripped down it, as if the toilet had overflowed and no one cleaned it after. The garbage looks like it was in the toilet when it overflowed. Gross.
Yes, everything that went into my mouth came out of a sealed package and was only touched by me. So, there’s that. My teeth were whiter. But, it’s not like what they’re doing here is specialized and you can’t get it done anywhere else. In the future I will go to a cleaner place… and I’ll be sure to check out the bathroom before I start.

I got the take home kit and left it longer than the required time with no results. I got my teeth whitened 6 years ago for around $ 400 with the zoom treatment and there was a huge difference. Smiling bright is a hot joke! Don’t waste your time or money even if its under 50bucks!

I am very unhappy with the quality of service and end result here at Smiling Bright. I strongly urge everyone to take your business elsewhere. First of all, I find the receptionist to be a little too lawerly. She declined to show me which shade of teeth I currently had. And then made it a point to hustle me out afterwards without giving me any kind of guidance or to show me which shade my teeth ended up being.
I didn’t think she did a good job providing me directions. The results were also quite poor. I told her I had a scrape on my front teeth which she said the treatment would solve. It didn’t. I’ll never go back there again and I will email Smiling Bright as well.

I purchased a living social deal for $ 39 for a 20 minute session. This was my first time getting professional teeth whitening and I didn’t have any expectations. The office had one person running it when I went in and there were 3 clients. There were 3 or 4 rooms where the services were provided. The rooms were comfortable and the experience was a bit awkward but fine. My teeth looked whiter after the procedure but a few days later they looked like they were back to the original color. I would never pay the regular price of $ 169 for this service but if there was another living social deal maybe I would try it again.

So here’s the deal: it’s like the «Massage Envy» of tooth whitening locations. It’s generic feeling, you do most of the work yourself, but at the end of the day, your teeth are whiter.
I bought a Groupon ($ 50/​30min) for this, and decided to go before Christmas pictures and all that were taken. I made reservations online (Easy!) about a week before-​hand, drove in a couple minutes early to find parking and was on time. No hassle with the Groupon being redeemed on my phone, either.
The rooms are small, but relatively comfortable, so you sit down in a slightly reclined chair, and the process is as follows:
1. Brush your own teeth with this little scrubby finger thing.
2. Put Vitamin E on your gums and lips (this is important!) to prevent blanching.
3. Insert a ridiculous looking plastic contraption that keeps your mouth open (make sure any talking you need to do is done before this point!)
4. Insert a mouthpiece that has peroxide-​infused foam and place against your front teeth.
5. Put on ridiculous looking red plastic glasses.
Then they’ll sit you back in the chair, position their little blue UV light in front of your teeth, and then you just wait until the timer runs down. If you don’t drool in the process, you’ll drool when the mouthpiece comes out. It tastes disgusting, but they give you a toothbrush so run — do not walk — to the bathroom to get that taken care of ASAP.
My one note is that the lighting in their establishment must be somewhat different — my teeth did look significantly whiter right when I was done with the procedure in the bathroom light, but when I came home, they only looked moderately whiter.
I’d definitely go again, and would recommend it. However, I would only give that recommendation with the use of a coupon/​discount. I don’t think I’d go back at full price, but it was definitely worth it at $ 50.

Have been twice now to Smiling Bright and can really say I’m very happy. The service is excellent — they make the whole process very simple, explain everything clearly and check in on your while you’re going through the treatment.
For those of you who have never been the treatment is actually ‘self administered’ — the staff there explain what to do but at no stage do they actually administer the cleaning pad, the ‘mouth stretcher’ or the bleach tray — they just hand them to you at the appropriate moment. That said, they do explain things thoroughly and make sure you don’t have any problems.
I’ve been twice now –the first time I was extremely happy with the results — the second time not so much, although still not bad, but I imagine that’s to be expected (my second treatment was only 3 weeks after the first so the improvement was probably only ever going to be minimal).

I drink 3 – 4 cups of coffee a day so you can imagine the damage to my pearly whites in terms of color. I use whitening strips about once a year, but I’ve been tempted to try in-​office whitening for a longer lasting effect. When a deal came up on Bloomspot, I bought it immediately.
When I called to make an appointment, I explained that I was coming from my job in Bethesda and the earliest I could leave work was 5:00 or 5:30. The guy was very nice about taking me at 6:00 even though that’s their closing time. However, when I arrived at 5:50, he didn’t give me the same color check routine as everyone else described. I could tell he wanted to close up shop soon and get me out of there as soon as he could. He started me off with the finger brush and then handed me the different contraptions.
Yes, the whole procedure is uncomfortable and awkward. Yes, there is constant drooling and you can waste as much tissue as you like, but nothing will stop it.
After my 20 minutes, I could immediately tell my teeth was a shade lighter but that was all. I cannot believe they regularly charge $ 150 for it. At $ 29 or $ 39 each session, I would go back, but definitely not at $ 150.

My boyfriend and I went in for our sessions after having purchased a deal online. We were greeted by Paul (courteous and informative) and started our session together in one of their cool little whitening rooms. We started off in the 20’s (we drink coffee like we do water). I ended up 6 shades lighter and my boyfriend was 8 shades lighter. after the 20 minute session under the LED lights. I could see the difference in his smile immediately. We will absolutely return!

This place is an absolute joke. Price wise, I can’t really complain, I got a living social deal for $ 39 for a 20 minute whitening… I expected the same results that you would get from crest white strips without the length of wait for pearly whites… The man that ran the place also told me that my teeth were expected to get 2 – 3 shades whiter so that sounded fabulous… To begin with my teeth were already fairly white so 2 or 3 shades should have made the spanking white.
He tried to lie to me and tell me I was a ‘12’ on the shade scale when I was obviously a ‘10’ so he changed it to ‘10’ But after the treatment there was absolutely NO visible difference in the whiteness of my teeth at all. He bluffed and said ya, they look great… They are about an 8 now, but they looked the exact same as I walked in… I looked and searched for the slightest difference, even half a shade… Nope…Same teeth.

So, everyone was super friendly here, I loved the décor and «new paint» smell but this really left something to be desired, mainly «a whiter smile.» I bought a Trubates deal, $ 49 for 30 minute whitening, and I felt like I had to do all the work and got zero results. First, you sign in and then go into a private room. You are handed a finger brush to «clean» off your teeth, then they give you a contraption that keeps your mouth open, they then cut open the pack with the mouthpiece with gel in it and you have to pull it out yourself and pop it in your mouth. I felt like it wasn’t positioned properly on my bottom teeth (maybe because I have a small overbite) but I thought there could have been better instructions – also I didn’t think I would be doing it. The employee didn’t even wear gloves! You have to put goggles on and then they turn on the LED light for you. Drool is inevitable and it’s pretty uncomfortable. I went to move my head because my neck was getting sore and… well, let’s just say it was a little messy.
Given the good reviews I was expecting more results than I got. I can’t see a lick of difference in my teeth and although I drink a lot of coffee and my teeth are somewhat stained, I thought I’d at least be able to see one to two shades of difference. I think this process would work best for someone that already has pretty white teeth and just wants them to shine. If you’ve been a coffee/​wine drinker for years, you might want to save your money and try someplace else.
A for effort though, Smiling Bright. The location was convenient and the staff was friendly.

Last week, I had my first Smiling Bright DC visit. Yes, my teeth are whiter, but the best part of the entire experience was Paul. He’s so friendly and creates such a welcoming atmosphere. Awesome! He was entirely accommodating, even though I was almost an hour late.
The whitening process is simple and an assistant guides you through the procedure. I love the efficiency of it all. Since I purchased a $ 50 Groupon, Smiling Bright was only a tad more expensive than my yearly Crest WhiteStrips application. It was also a LOT more convenient than having to remember to paste those things on my teeth every day. Thirty minutes and I was done!
