Simon Bolivar The Liberator Statue

Poor Simon doesn’t get any respect in Unilocal,much less in North America. Even his statue isn’t looking good!
Yeah, it’s a statue. There are a lot of them in the DC area, and I always wondered who some of these dudes are. Seeing nobody has reviewed it, I endeavored to find out more about him and a few of his statue-​buddies.
Simon is part of a set of 5 «Statues of the Liberators», all located in the vicinity of the Organization of American States building. Each was donated by a different Latin American country, and depicts a major leader who fought against European rule.
For those who don’t know who he is, Simon is sometimes called the «George Washington of South America» (although Jose Artigas and a few others might disagree with that term). In the early 19^th century he led a war of independence against the Spanish. This lead to what was once known as «Gran Colombia» (the northern part of the South American continent) gaining self rule.
