This was the worst sushi I have ever had. The taste and quality was poor. We ordered 4 rolls and only could stomach 3 pieces. It was awful. I even got sick after only 3 pieces! Ordered the pad Thai since we hadn’t eaten anything and it was fat chicken covered in peanuts on top of sprouts. Disgusting. Worst meal I’ve consumed ever! Stay awau

Stay away people. This place has terrible food. I ordered duck and instead they brought me this chunk of fat that was supposed to be duck! When I complained, instead of the manager listening to me, she was more interested in if I’m going to pay. Sigh!!! DONTGOHERE!

I usually don’t go out of my way to write a bad review but after eating, I knew my card would not have enough money for tip or it would get declined so I hadn’t tip and my friend tipped for us both. As I was leaving, the waitress aggressively chases after me and demand that I tip her saying that it is mandatory and I have to leave at least $ 1. I asked what if it gets declined and she goes, it doesn’t matter, you need to give me 1 or 2 dollars. Never have I been so humiliated. Never coming back.

Not the best Thai food, but not bad, the quality of meat varies day to day. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. I ordered online, and called when the food was 30 minutes late past the hour estimated delivery time. When I called the person who answered immediately said it’s on its way. Another 30 minutes, still no delivery — I called again and she said call back in 5 minutes she would call the driver. I called back, she said he’s on his way, they are very busy and he had too many orders when he left so that’s why its taking so long. This is two hours after ordering. Fifteen minutes later, still no food. I called back and she immediately put me on hold without saying a word, then would just pick up the phone and set it down — I could hear the restaurant sounds in the background. So at this point, they wont even talk to me about food I’ve already payed for and never received, which they’ve lied about being on it’s way. I walked over to the restaurant and when I arrived, the restaurant was almost empty and it looked like the delivery person was just sitting at one of the tables. The lady who had been answering the phones immediately started to speaking to the other waiter, chefs, and delivery man and when she finally came back — she said my order was never made, it was still in the machine. I asked for a refund, which they could not provide. So i asked where my order was, she asked if i wanted to wait(at this point it has been 3 hours since placing the order). As I was waiting for my order I sat off to the side and she went to the back and was speaking with the other people working there, no one would come near me. Police pulled up outside on Georgia Ave(it was a Friday night, not uncommon) and a few of the people working there started saying loudly«The police are here! The police are here!» Then the waiter behind the bar, who couldn’t see me, says loudly to the chef«She called the police because we didn’t make her order» and they start laughing. Then I left. Are you kidding me?(Police were responding to something down the street, obviously) You lied about my order when I tried to call and check up on it, lied again, ignored my calls, blame the ‘machine’ and someone else for not making my order and then insult me when you think I can’t hear you. Just a hungry girl trying to get the food I payed for.

Fast delivery! Great food. Definitely recommend the spring rolls and the shrimp red curry.

I’d give zero stars if I could. I live right down the street and I ordered delivery while coloring my hair. They gave us a 20 minute estimate… It took 45MINUTES! Then when my friend and I finally got our food(pad see ew with chicken and something with shrimp) it was horrible. Literally the worst Thai I’ve ever had. It smelled like dog food. The noodles were chewy. The shrimp was over cooked. Never ordering here again. It was so bad we ended up going to Pizza Hut instead because the thought of finishing this food was unbearable. $ 17WASTED.

Decent. Delivery. That’s about it. Nothing super special about this place, but it’s reliable and convenient. I do wish the red curry was spicier. My girlfriend is a baby about spicy foods and she didn’t even think it was spicy. I also thought raisins in pineapple fried rice was odd. Other than that, no complaints. Pad Thai was pretty boss.

I love Sala Thai. I know that I could find a much more authentic Thai place in the city but they just do it for me(Idc, Idc). I’m totally addicted to the thai basil wings(ask to have the cooked extra crispy because they are huge and you don’t want them to get too soggy in the sauce). I also enjoy the typical dishes of spicy basil rice(lots of fresh seafood), pineapple fried rice and pad thai, I just wish the had yum woon sen. They also have special seasonal dishes that are delish and good for a change of pace when you are in the mood for something outside of the box.

Great for takeout. Not amazing but does the trick especially since delivery options in petworth are just so-so.

This place is terrible. I wasn’t expecting anything great, but I tried it out for lunch because it’s so close to my house. The curry was watery and had absolutely no seasoning, the chicken wings were soggy and the meat was extremely sketchy. I threw most of it away.

I should’ve listened when I was warned to «be careful» eating here. Last Thursday evening I ordered the Spicy Chili Basil Wings and by Friday morning I was clutching my stomach in pain. Now this is not the 1st time I’ve ordered this appetizer so I was very comfortable with the food here. Thursdays meal tasted different though. It seemed like the chicken & spicy vegetables weren’t freshly prepared. I now believe believe it was leftover from the previous day or set out and reheated. The woman who warned me about them said she had a crab dish with rancid crab meat. The staff was apologetic and refunded her money but the fact remains… How does bad food make it to the customer?

It’s not high-end Thai, but for the price(and a local chain), it’s extremely tasty! I recommend not customizing the spice level too much on the curries as their standard spice level is more flavorful(presumably because it’s stewed in spices for a while, rather than just prepared before serving).

I had the Pad See Ew here, and it was the definition of two stars on Unilocal(«Meh, I’ve experienced better»). It wasn’t egregiously bad, but there wasn’t much of it and it was only okay. The service was also not great, even though the restaurant was practically empty. I’d be willing to try another dish here and maybe it would be a better experience, but I’d probably try somewhere else first.

Since we recently moved a good distance from the Bethesda location, my fiancé and I decided that it might be worth a shot to try the new Sala Thai location closest to us in the Petworth neighborhood. We biked over on the later side of a Saturday night and the place was pretty sparsely populated — maybe 3 or 4 other tables. It’s not overly big to begin with, but it has a trendy look/vibe to it and it appears clean at least on the surface. The wait staff was friendly and everything came out in good time, so at the very least the service portion of the restaurant seemed to be well-run. Since we were familiar with the menu from the other locations(though this one is a bit different), we didn’t have too much trouble deciding on what to order. As usual, we decided to imbibe in some of their unusual cocktails because they are so creative and relatively inexpensive. Between the two of us we tried their versions of the Long Island Iced Tea, the Mai Thai, the Pina Colada, and one of their fruity martinis(I forget which). The Mai Thai and Pina Colada were solid and fun, the other two were kind of odd to drink and not something we would really order again. We were quite hungry as it had been a long day of work and we hadn’t eaten since breakfast, so we kind of went all out. For appetizers, he ordered the calamari and we shared the vegetable tempura. While the calamari seemed fine and he enjoyed it, the tempura was a bit disappointing because they just used the same fry batter as they did on everything else. There was no delicacy to them and it tasted heavy rather than the delicate lightness that tempura should have. As for dinner, I went boring and ordered my standard Pad See Ew J(vegetarian) and it was delicious as always. It’s just addictive in how good it is, even though I know it’s not the most authentic that it could be. He had the seafood combination with spicy bean sauce and also seemed to enjoy that a great deal. They also gladly brought him extra rice upon request. Both of us finished our full meals(though I needed a little help from him on my appetizer) and left relatively happy. Overall, we’ll probably go back to Sala Thai but maybe less often than we used to. We’ve realized over time that while some of the dishes are delicious and the price is right, they are a bit lazy in their food preparation. There is much better Thai food to be had in the area. But there’s always something to be said for a solid cheap date, and when we need one, this will be one of our go-to places for sure.

I love ST! So it’s not the greatest Thai food Ive ever eaten, but ST is consistently good, has always had good service in my experience and they play jazz on the weekends. I typically get the basics from ST: pad Thai, seafood fried rice, and any and all of their sushi rolls(and I mean any one of them are good), drunken noodles, etc. Im gonna go ahead and claim the sushi is my favorite from ST. Its fresh and tasty. On any given day Im likely to order the spicy tuna, CA roll, shrimp tempura roll, maki roll… I can appreciate that Sala Thai delivers. I no longer live in the area, but for those who do, U St and this location has delivery service! So on those nights when you would rather watch Casablanca than hit a local bar, you can stay in with sushi. Although ST is relatively small, if you get here before the crowd, you can grab a booth for a couple of friends. 3.75 stars for overall consistency in good food and service.

The sushi was good and fresh. Ordered a bunch of rolls and was NOT disappointed. Only downside is that it’s quite costly.

Found chicken in explicitly vegan order of drunken noodles. I will never eat here again. What if you had a seafood allergy? A family member who doesn’t eat pork? If food is truly made to order, this should never happen. How unclean must their kitchen be to cross-contaminate chicken into a dish that is purely noodles and vegetables? Woks should be washed after each use. Clearly, this isn’t the case. Owner made a bunch of excuses, but ultimately, he doesn’t care. This place is trash.

I usually love Sala Thai, and I was a excited to meet a friends of mine for dinner. The space is smaller than the ones I’ve visited in the past. The hostess promptly seated us. We decided to share an appetizer of spring rolls which were great. I ordered the Pad Thai J. if you haven’t tried the Pad Thai J, then you are truly missing out on a treat. My friend ordered the vegetable curry with brown rice. It had a little kick, but she added extra peppers for more kick. I enjoyed the vegetable curry as well, but I’m a fan of the Pad Thai J. The food and restaurant was a solid four stars until it was time to use the restroom. The patrons need a key to use the restroom. I get that Sala Thai don’t want random people using the restroom, but the key was attached to a credit card holder. In addition, I’m still dining, and I am using a key that other patrons took to the restroom. That’s gross. Even though I washed my hands, I’m not sure about anyone else’s cleanliness. Touching keys that have gone in and out of the restroom was not my idea of fine dining.

Very mediocre thai food. Greasy, flavor isn’t there, meat isn’t great. About sums it up
