I worked with Alex, and had a great experience! He was recommended by a colleague of mine and did not disappoint. They found me a great job, and worked very quickly. The last staffing firm I worked with took more than six months to find an opportunity for me. Alex found me a great position within two weeks, and I received an offer in the following two weeks. The job is a perfect fit for me. Job searching is difficult and not everyone is suited for admin work, but I give them 5 stars without a doubt for understanding my skill set and finding a great place for me.

As you read the reviews, remember this… the ones who couldn’t land a job are more likely to leave a review vs. the ones who were successfully placed.
I had my reservations about RPS as well when I first got a call about a temp-​to-​hire position. They found my resume on Monster but didn’t know that at the time, I was already working full time. I did mention that I’ve been job shopping (last company was awfully reminiscent of the film Office Space… sanity was wearing thin). They said that Alex Postow will reach out if he has anything for me, since he’s in charge of all direct hires… aaaaaand I highly doubted that I’d hear from them again.
Out of the blue, in early March, I got a phone call from Molly who excitedly informs me that Alex has a client for me, and that he’d like for me to come in for an interview. I agree, take the Microsoft Office Suite test, fill out the forms, and drive from Reston to DC at 4:30pm on the following Tuesday. Additional grammar and spelling test was taken as soon as I sat in the lobby, then I met Alex.
Throughout our meeting, Alex exuded professionalism and clarity. He is a true leader and spokesman — in two breaths, he knows how to file personalities and dig out people’s needs from their gibberish, and his charisma is infectious. Rarely do I say this, but Alex is doing what he was made to do. He has shattered and rebuilt my impression of headhunters and recruiters. During our meeting, he prepared me thoroughly for interviews, throwing tips after tips — all of which I know I can use in the future. He also asked several questions to get a better idea of my wants and needs — i.e., personality traits that I’d like in a boss. He is definitely someone that anyone would be lucky to work with.
Three days later, Alex landed me an interview. He even called me on the morning of and helped me prepare. Three rounds of interviews and two weeks later, I accepted the job offer from an impressive firm in Old Town, one with an exciting and tremendous future ahead. I couldn’t be more grateful! Thank you Alex!!!
On a somewhat negative note, the only reason I considered docking a star is because the receptionist of the firm was unprofessional, rude, and nearly childish on the phone and in person. A severely poor representation of what RPS truly is. I’m not really the type to bitch about bad personalities in the workspace, but the contrast between her lousy attitude and the rest of my RPS experience was just that black-​and-​white… had to mention it.
In contrast, Alex is someone that you’d want on your team and would be lucky to have. I already referred a handful of colleagues to him. He was there with me every step of the process, and he even keeps in touch after the t’s are crossed. Incredibly professional and sharp. If you are an admin professional, do not be afraid to give this staffing firm a chance. I’m incredibly lucky that they came across my resume!!!

Ruthi Postow set me up with a temp position and while the company was paying $ 18/​hour for me, after the cut that Ruthi Postow took, I was making $ 10/​hour. I was completely struggling to stay afloat and did not find out until months in that they were taking this much out of my hourly wage. They weren’t transparent at all. I don’t think it was worth it, only go with them if you’re incredibly desperate. I think they just exist to prey on desperate graduates who move to the city.

I moved to the DC area back in October 2013. In January 2014, my friend recommended me if I am struggling to find work, then go with a staffing agency. He recommended me this one because his friend actually received a position through here. I also joined several other staffing agencies. Ruthi Postow quickly called me back and scheduled an «interview» with me sometime in the week. Very nice, relaxing office, make you feel very welcomed. My agent was very nice and detailed how things would work. Things quickly changed.
I called the week after my interview to check back, since that is what my agent told me to do. The office receptionist said she no longer works for the agency. They did not inform of this change. I asked why I was not informed, and they could not answer me that. I asked who is my new agent and they quickly assigned me a new one. I tried to get in contact with her for about a week then finally had a call back. It was a great conversation and felt like I was back on track. She told me to keep e-​mailing her since she checks that more than voice-​mails and can respond better, found out later that was a complete lie.
Several weeks passed by while I kept being persistent and e-​mailing my new agent of new updates with my schedules and any leads that may have occurred. This a good and common practice to do. I also called several times and the excuse I always get is shes busy or with another client. Left voice-​messages after messages and was just ignored.
I ended up contacting them a few months later. This time I was put on hold for 5 minutes; I had a feeling she was there and she just did not want to take the time out of the day to help me. It’s funny how the same friend received an e-​mail from Monica the day before saying she would like to receive referrals. Guess that was a lie too. Shame on you Monica for no help whatsoever. I despise this agency a lot and would highly not recommend going here.
Why am I giving it one star even? Because they did great in the beginning, but it was all a façade. If you want to find a job in administrative work go with NRI especially or even Robert Half (even though I did not have a great experience there).

This place sucks. I know that’s not the most academically sound way of putting it but I want to say how I feel. They are salesmen. I went into my interview, did the tests, and did everything I needed to and was told that they could find me a job quickly and efficiently. Three weeks later, after no contact from them, I email them to see what was up. The best they could do was find me temp positions.
Stop acting like a used car salesmen and promise your candidates that you can find them jobs and build their hopes up. They are nothing but salesmen. Screw them being «boutique» because they only offer these «super hard positions» that only offer $ 45k at the most. I found my last job through another temp agency that never screwed around with me. I hope they enjoy being the awful placement agency that they are.

I emailed Ruth Postow Staffing my resume, and they quickly confirmed that is was received and they will follow up with me. They actually did, the next day I got a call about an open position and they wanted to interview me.
After completing the ProveIt test, I met everyone in the office. They seemed pretty friendly, and described told me about the job opening. I was really excited about it, however, they never called me back to let me know if I will be able to interview with the client or not. I tried to call, but I never got an answer.
I give them three stars because I actually learned helpful interviewing and resume tips from Alex. While I did not get a job, I did use what I learned from Alex in another successful interview.

BEWARE. Unlike some other reviewers I did hear back from Krista right away, I did pass the tests as I have many years of temp experience and knew what to expect and how to prepare for the exams, and I was placed regularly with jobs.
However there are three things people should know.
1) After four months you’re supposed to be entitled to paid holidays. They only recognize a few of them even if their offices are closed so you might not get paid. If you have a forced unpaid holiday at your seconded employer, a forced unpaid snow day, or god forbid you need to take a sick day or a holiday, that goes against your work hours. They then divide all those hours up and it makes it look like you are not entitled to a fully paid holiday!!! What crooks! I spend 10 months working for Ruthi Postow and they never gave me the full benefits I should have been entitled too and that never sat well with me.
2) Beware of the temp-​to-​hire scam! I was placed on a temp to hire assignment. I was told they could hire me at any time. The truth is that there is a 6 months probation that they weren’t upfront about. After 6 months I still wasn’t made an offer and continued to temp. I asked Krista more than once to follow up with them on the status of my position because after 6 months of working without health insurance, without benefits, and making only about $ 1,100/month after their 30% cut on my salary and the government’s 30% taxes deductions, I was getting pretty anxious and desperate as I was put in an extremely financially vulnerable position. Ruthi Postow and my seconded employer NEVER TOLD ME ABOUT THE INTERNAL RECRUITMENT RULE. It turns out that my seconded employer had the right to recruit internally for two weeks for my position and I wasn’t allowed to apply because I was from an outside agency. Now I’m unemployed and applying for Medicaid and Food Stamps. Thanks to Ruthi Postow for never having my back. It has been real. Not.
3) I saved the best for last. They give you the salary quote over the phone and don’t put it in writing. I was told I would be making $ 17/​hour but they actually paid me $ 16/​hour. When I confronted them they were able to deny everything and there was nothing I could do about it. They owe me well over $ 1,000.
I have been temping for a decade. Never in my entire life have I had a negative experience like this until now. They are passive aggressive and con artists who only care about themselves. Look elsewhere if you’re smart.

I’m a recent college graduate and I had just moved to the area. I was struggling to get my foot in the door, so I decided to give this company and Ruthi Postow a try. The moment I sent my resume, not even 20 minutes later, I had Krista call me, telling she was excited to meet and speak with me about a job entry perfect for entry-​level college graduates.
We chatted and I was asked to bring ID, deposit slip and other materials. I was also asked to take a test pertaining to MS Office. The test itself was seemingly a waste of time and made purposely to be difficult (no joke, some of the questions they asked you could have answered by pressing the tab key but they wanted you to use some useless function). I didn’t do as well as I liked, but I got through it.
The interview was a complete bust and a waste of my time. When I got to the office, the receptionist was no where to be found and when she came in, she was courteous and gave me some paperwork to fill out. While I was writing it out, another client of Krista’s comes in — she says she’s there to see Krista at the exact same time I was scheduled to meet with her.
I fill out the paper, she comes in with another man and they lead me to a conference room and interview me. They seriously could not hide the looks on their faces when they saw that my physical appearance did not match my voice over the phone. Especially since I wasn’t wearing tight clothing or anything revealing for the few men in there to ogle me over.
To sum it up, she basically tells me that my MS Word score wasn’t high enough for the employer so she wasn’t going to refer me for the job just on that. Which was honestly an insult in so many ways. Then she goes on to say in a beat around the bush manner that because I lived in a certain town (that is somewhat low income) she didn’t think she could assign me jobs in the DC/​Metro area.
Are you kidding me? I had just came from that town and nearly two hours early might I add, so I clearly have no problem getting to that area! She wasted my time and money just to tell me something she could have told me over the phone.
Then she goes on to say she’ll contact me if she finds anything for me. I already know this was bull and she was pushing me off. Seriously, this temp agency isn’t worth it at all.
Not to mention highly unprofessional.

I was initially excited to be in contact with Ruth Postow when I first moved to DC in November. I previously was working with a woman named Wendy. She was kind, warm and seemed to be very interested in my career aspirations. We talked and told me we could set something up when I was settled with my move etc. After a couple of weeks I sent her an Email letting her know I was ready to meet. I am going to mention the term «interested» very loosely because here we are at the end of January and I have yet to here from Wendy for a follow up interview, or even a phone conversation. nothing
However, another contact Kimberly called me and we spoke for a few minutes. She asked me the standard questions of what I am looking for, my previous job experiences, etc. We agreed to meet that Friday for a in person interview to speak further. So she sent me the ProveIt! software for assessment testing to see how you fall and rank against other candidates. That morning I met with Kimberly who seemed a little bothered based on first impression. She skipped the formal introductions and told me that she could not work with me because my test scores were too low and that she «Does not work with candidates with these types of scores». Totally making me feel less than adequate, incompetent, and a waste of time. She told me to maybe watch some tutorials and review and come back to take the test again. Disregarding my talents and education, all that mattered to Kimberly was the numbers on paper. I am not sure what standard they hold to candidates, but I am not foreign to using those specific software applications; however according to Kimberly, I was not good enough.
To say that I was upset is an understatement. I cannot believe that level of disrespect that was displayed by this agency. and to think that I came to this agency against a previous negative review from several personal friends who worked with them.
I will NOT recommend Ruthi Postow to anyone. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!

BAIT AND SWITCH LIARS. Have you ever seen a conspicuous posting on another website for an attractive administrative position? You submit your resume and then get a call from RPstaffing. They want to talk to you about the position, but they can’t tell you anything else about it until you take an online software skills test and come in for an interview. You agree. She says she’ll send you an email with the test link and interview information. Awesome! Then, right before you hang up she asks if you’re available for other temp positions that may arise should this one not be the right fit. Hmmm…
If you say no, they’ll politely get off the phone with you and then never contact you again. You won’t receive that email, and they won’t set up that interview. I wonder if those positions they post really do exist…

Ruthi Postow Staffing is a fantastic boutique firm for Admin opportunities. While the entire firm is wonderful and works well together as a team to help find the right positions for their clients and candidates, I can’t say enough about how amazing, Senior Recruiter, Wendy Clifford was to work with.
Not only did Wendy go above and beyond to get to know me professionally, she added a little something extra to my search to ensure I felt like her number one priority at all times. She is warm, friendly and kind. Her work ethic is undeniable and her instincts about potential placements for me were always right on the money. After broadening my search to include temporary positions, Wendy landed me a position within days. The placement was such a fantastic fit, after one week as a temp, I was hired on full time at a incredible firm. After I received my offer, Wendy took things a step further to ensure that I got the best salary and benefits package and continues to check in with me occasionally.
I could not be happier with my new job and career path. I would highly recommend Ruthi Postow Staffing.

I was contacted by Krista (who my resume was forwarded to). Happy to have been contacted, I referred my sister to email her as well. About 10 minutes later, my sister received a call by Maura (Maura Mitchell Shea) who rudely accused me and my sister of being frauds and liars because we worked at the same companies and had them listed on our resumes. Never mind my sister mentioned in her email that she was referred by me. I told her I could provide her with the numbers so she could reference check. Then she goes on to say that we didn’t have the experience that Ruthi Postow was looking for. I asked her then why was I contacted in the first place! She had no answers. She just came up with excuse after excuse because she knew she was wrong to give such a rude attitude for no apparent reason.
I wouldn’t want to work for them if they hire rude and clueless people like Maura to represent them. Apparently, they don’t have any jobs if they were contacting me and I supposedly didn’t have the «experience» they were looking for. Sounds like they are just collecting resumes. Stay away.

I called the office of Ruthi Postow Staffing on the 13^th of January and was referred to Krista. After our conversation she asked for my resume.
Once I sent her my resume I never received a follow up email or conversation. I called a few days later and left a message. Still no response.
Don’t waste your time folks. Time is money.

A recruiter contacted me regarding a position they thought I’d be perfect for, and after reviewing Unilocal,I was ecstatic. I made my way out to DC, met with two people, and they seemed enthusiastic about my resume and how I’d be perfect, etc. The recruiter stated they would call me the very next day to inform me of the date and time I’d interview with their client. Here we are several weeks later and I still have not heard a thing.

At the suggestion of a friend that did get employment through RPS I contacted them in April after I was laid off from my job in March. I called everyday I was available to work and have now only worked two days. I worked one day in their office as the receptionist and another day (overnight) doing a grocery store inventory.
I have many years professional experience that more then qualifies me for the work they staff.
I am doing just as well getting myself employment as RPS has been at getting me to work.
I have stopped wasting my time and do not call them every morning. I am still available to work every day.

This might just be a biased rating because I just had a great interview with RP staffing but Unilocal reviews are meant to be subjective.
They’re a GREAT firm, right when I walked in, I felt very comfortable and knew I’d be taken care of. The staff is amazing and the recruiters really engage you as a unique individual rather than a resume. Throughout my interview the recruiter remained very personable yet professional, all the while provided me tips on how to market myself in interviews. They’re very thorough with their work and make sure they learn as much about the job seeker — which ensures they provide quality workers to businesses.
They provide temp-​to-​hire, and part time positions and they seem to have a very large clientele which is helpful for job seekers! I’m excited i found this place and has renewed my hope in finding a job in DC! Thanks RP.
