This place deserves five stars for taking my bike after I got a huge nail in the tire and turning it around in 10 minutes. I heard the tube go pop followed by a hissing noise and thought oh great I’ll have to drop it off and take the metro home. I looked on google for the closest bike shop and saw Rollin Bikes was only half a mile away so I walked on over and was told it would only take about 10 minutes. True to their word, the bike came «rollin» out in 10 and the chain feels smoother too, not sure if that was part of the service or just my imagination.
Anyway, will definitely come back for any other quick fixes. It was $ 20 for the tube and labor with a 24 hour tube warranty.

I never submit reviews on Unilocal,but the service at Rollin Cycles was exceptional. I rented a bike for the afternoon. They fitted me, and a helmet and bike lock were included In the rental. And the bike was really nice. They were closing at 6 on Sunday and we were running late. I called and they said they would be there until 6:10. We rushed to get there and they waited for us. Unfortunately, I lost the bike lock key in the rush. I asked if I could look for it and if I found return it, otherwise I would be charged a $ 30 fee. Luckily I found the key and they were still there when I returned 20 minutes later. I highly recommend Rollin Cycles.

I came here with my friend, who needed a replacement wheel for her touring bike. I suggested she ask if they built wheels, as I have personally had better luck (durability-​wise) with hand built wheels from reputable shops. This is not one of them, and not for the reason you’d expect.
I got into an argument with the tech, who insisted that all wheels are hand built — clearly this is not true as most are machine built. One could argue the merits of machine built vs hand built, but he oddly rejected the notion entirely.
Not wanting to go to another shop — it had been a stressful day — my friend went with the wheel they suggested. When it came back… it was an entirely different color AND VALVE TYPE from her existing wheel. Seriously? Now she is stuck with a Schrader valve on a silver rim, and a Presta valve on a black rim.
No attention to detail here, folks, and fundamentally misinformed service. Go anywhere else.

I needed bike a new pair of grips and was hesitant of trying this place out because of the rumor on the street of horrible customer service. Horrible is a compliment. I stood six feet away from the owner and other employees doing absolutely nothing. 10 minutes later still no still acknowledgment. Stay away!

I bought some parts here and the prices were ok, but I’ve always preferred The Bike Rack bc the mechanics there are reasonable and competent.
Anyhow, in a mix-​up, my partner took my bike to Rollin Cycles for a tune-​up as a surprise while I was out of town. She paid a good bit for a tune-​up.
Unfortunately, when I hopped on the bike a few weeks later, NOT EVEN THE BRAKES were appropriately adjusted, which is simply unsafe and unethical.
The dérailleur is in the worst shape it’s ever been in since their adjustments. Who, I wonder, is doing their mechanic work? I am not even very bike savvy and I can simply adjust brakes.
Please save your money, time, and even your neck by not using this shop.

They fixed my flat tire and adjusted my breaks in a couple of minutes on the spot, and even helped me determine how high I should set my seat, helping me to adjust it.

I’m not one to write negative reviews but I had a flat on my way in to work and so caught the bus to 14^th to get a quick replacement. I got there a little before 9:20 — they’re supposed to open at 9. One of the workers was there talking to a friend and ignored me. When I asked if they’d be opening soon he just told me his boss is always late and that I need to chill. So I walked 2 blocks away to The Bike Rack and got friendly, quick help. No reason to ever come here again.

Really underwhelming bike shop. I live next door, but I’d never take my stuff here to get repaired. I recommend making the trip up to Proteus to get work done. This bike shop is tiny, and the repair guy is not friendly. This is definitely not the kind of neighborhood bike shop you’d like. It’s a pretty bland and uninteresting place to visit. If you’ve ever been to a good bike shop, you’ll probably walk right in and right out of this place.
Proteus is the best bike shop in the area. If you need some work done or want a really friendly place to talk about bikes, Proteus is your place. If you just need a lock or something, sure go here (though I’d still say ordering on Amazon would be the smarter move).
This place is really dropping the ball, I’m on the same block and I’m still willing to drive across town for better service. I’d say the management really doesn’t care much about having a nice bike shop.

I will never go here again. Several years ago I brought in a flat tire. I came to pick it up several days later and the rim was so bent that the tire could not spin. When I pointed it out, the manager tried to pretend that was how was brought in. I noted that I would have remembered having to carry the bike (and not roll it). He then charged me full price to have the rim bent back.

Have been here a couple of times. Super nice people and up front about their reasonable prices

They’ve been working on my old bike and then my new bike bought 2 years ago from this place. It was part of a $ 100 off summer sale that included a year warrantee of tune ups. Still go back after that one year. Sometimes gears get installed funny but they’ve gladly fixed it. This is close to my house. No complaints about it for a while. I used to find Charles rude, but turns out he’s just straightforward. Other staff are cool and laid back too. This place in general is laid back and not cracked out about a cycling lifestyle. They never upsell you and like someone said, no judgement zone, no pressure to buy the most expensive bike. It’s a pretty straightforward no frills bike shop close to my house with reasonable prices. Also sells bike parts.

I don’t really know much about bikes so bear with me…
We wanted to rent so I went to the trusty google for «Bike rental DC» I found these folks and it looked like an improvement over what I’d used previously, Bike n’ Roll. The bikes we got were in great shape and seemed to be of better quality than Bike n’ Roll’s.
There’s really not a lot to a bike rental. We went in, got our gear, and were back out the door in about ten minutes. They leave you very much on your own and make sure to note that if you get a flat, you fix it.
I’ll probably be back here to rent before too long. Rock Creek trails are calling my name.

Like many others, I purchased a deal to get a tune-​up at Rollin’ Cycles. I brought my bike in about a month ago. Everyone working at the time was super nice.
I waited for the call to come pick my bike up, but it never came. The second time I called to check on the status of my tune-​up, the person who initially picked up the phone was rude. A different staff member eventually determined that they had entered my phone number incorrectly into their system (although I had been very careful to print it clearly). My bike was ready a day later than I had been told it would be, but that was not a big deal.
Nearly one month of regular bicycle commuting later, I went to hop on my bike to pedal home, and found my rear brakes were not working. One of the bolts was missing, so one side of the caliper brakes had come off. It seems like there are 3 things that could have occurred:
1) Sabotage. I feel this is highly unlikely. I have not made enemies of any cartoonish villains in the past month.
2) Rollin’ Cycles did not tighten bolts during tune-​up as they should have
3) The bolt was missing when I brought the bike in, Rollin’ Cycles did not notice, and I somehow pedaled around for nearly 4 weeks afterwards without incident after the bike was returned to me
I brought the bike back to Rollin’ Cycles with a copy of my receipt and asked them to fix it. They repaired it on the spot, but wanted to charge me for half a caliper brake repair, which surprised me. I said I believed it the malfunction was due to negligence on their part, and they still charged me $ 0.50 for the bolt they installed. Whatever. At that point, I wasn’t going to argue, but I won’t be going back to Rollin’ Cycles.

Love this place — non-​judgement zone, no pressure to buy the most expensive bike and very laid back guys who help you test run any and all bikes. I test ran about 4 different bikes and ended up buying the perfect one. I’m very happy with my new bike and service so far.

Great crew. Bike in good shape and it was a super fast turnaround. Will be back.

Love this place. When ever I need anything related to bikes, this is my go to. Jordan and Max are very knowledgeable and have amazing customer service skills. Making me feel like I am important individual is clutch especially compared to the bike rack who treat me like money.

I went back to Rollin’ Cycles because, 3 months after getting a tune up and having my brake pads replaced, my brakes were making a noise. The kind of noise they make when they’re completely shot. That, and someone stole my bike saddle and bar so I kind of needed immediate help.
I honestly hate to think anything is gender-​based. Some bike shops are just kind of overall snotty/​disinterested in customer service to all customers. But the way the guy talked down to me about how «sometimes our bikes get dirty and just make a noise» made me want to slap him with my dainty lady-​glove and get my hoop-​skirted self out of there. He said he would clean the brakes and replace the saddle bar and have it ready by COB. He called a couple of hours later to say it was ready. I picked it up and rode off, feeling glorious to have Bikey back. I tested the brakes… heaven. Upon closer inspection, however, THEY HAD REPLACED THE BRAKES. Which means they just didn’t replace the brakes the first time as they said they had/​charged me for. And instead of owning up to «hey we messed up, it was a holiday weekend and we just totally got slammed and forgot about your bike, our bad» they LIED to me and then talked down to me about dirty bikes. I mean… my bike works now so I can’t give them one star/​be too too pissed but me, my bike, and my lady parts are all going elsewhere where I’m not lied to or talked down to. If anyone knows of a good bike shop that is woman-​owned or women-​friendly, please do let me know!

I’ve definitely been to bike stores where the employees are standoffish (at best), and this, I assure you, is not one of those.
So I didn’t actually purchase a bike here, but I did spend an hour with one of the dudes that works here whose name I forget. He helped me try out all different bicycles and learn more about what I need in a bike. Best of all, he didn’t try to pressure me into buying a bike that wouldn’t work for me, and even suggested I look into different models that would fit me better and meet my budget. I am really appreciative of the time he spent with me and the guidance he provided. He was friendly, well-​informed, and I got the sense that this place wouldn’t try to nickel and dime you when it comes to repairs or purchasing. If they carried the model I was looking for, I’d be happy to buy from them.

As is the case with most bike shops, the smell of new tires and the sight of shiny spokes gets me excited when I first walk in. From there it was downhill. Great options, good prices, okay mechanics, rude owner. I couldn’t help but feel as though I was inconveniencing him. I knew it wasn’t just a fluke because I reluctantly stuck with this place for 6 months. Whatever the issue was with my bike that had me coming in almost bi-​weekly for a reoccurring issue with my front wheel and my pedals, the owner made it clear — and I mean this to be read in a repugnant tone — that this was clearly rider error. Several second opinions later, I came to learn that they had indeed done a very poor job putting the bike I purchased from them together in the first place.
Aside from my personal horrible experience, there are a few other things that I find this place lacking. Unlike the other shops I’ve supported, there was no sense of community. The Bike Rack, City Bikes, BikePro, Revolution, BicycleSPACE all have group rides, events, teams, classes, etc. Rollin Cycles has none of this.
Their low prices are certainly attractive, but a bike is an investment, one that will create a connection between you and the shop whether for their group activities or even just the complimentary 1 year tune up, so it is important to choose a place that you will feel both welcome and not alienated by other riders.

I’ve had mixed experiences with this shop. They’re pretty laid back, which is cool until it borders on tactless and unprofessional. When they called to say my bike was ready, the guy was kind of gruff and then asked if my axle had been broken before I dropped it off. Funny I’m the right context, but this wasnt it.
Especially after I recognized his voice as the guy I’d spoken to when I dropped off the bike. It had taken them half an hour to give me an estimate as a result of them dawdling, repeating themselves over and over, and then not understanding how to use their checkout computer.
One of the things they worked on was tuning up the gears, but unfortunately once I rode it I realized the gears still weren’t tuned quite right. Rather than bring it back it back in, I decided to just fix it myself.
They’re nice guys, and the prices are reasonable, but the customer service definitely leaves something to be desired.
