As a 36 year old male who loves fashion (and is a lifelong DC resident) finding boutiques like Redeem has always been an issue. Only the last five years or so has our city seen an uptick in specialty stores like this. As a usual frequenter of Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Hugo Boss etc. I always found that you could spend a lot of money but see someone wearing the same piece. Or you’d go back to the store and see those $ 200 dollar jeans on sale. After checking out Redeem last year, I was blown away. They do an amazing job of curating for men, with a good balance of brands that range from relaxed California designers to Australian denim and everything in between. The shop itself is beautiful and the staff is relaxed and accommodating. For those of you worried about price, perhaps you should stick to Nordstrom Rack or something to that effect. You’re paying for quality and uniqueness when you shop here, and the pieces last much longer. Finally — the price points here aren’t even bad — with items ranging from $ 60 — $ 275 (jeans etc.). That’s what you’d expect to pay at a store like J. Crew, so why would that bother you here? I can’t say enough good things about this shop, if you are in the area check it out!

This place has some great finds but everything is extremely over priced. More people would shop there if the prices weren’t so ridiculous. Especially when most items are items you can find somewhere else or at least something that looks very similar but half the price or less

As I man who likes clothes and is a way of expressing oneself, Redeem is true gem in a sea of clothing stores. I stumbled on this store in their old location several years ago.
Redeem presents itself as a gallery. There is thought put into the store. You can tell the store cares about the clothing, designers and their customer. Every article is presented or curated so well. They have taken their time to create a very cohesive space that lends itself to a comfortable experience.
As you enter you are not met by racks of clothing. Rather a very comfortable space that slowly introduces you to their astetic. A large desk with a variety of home goods and accessories. Then you see two small racks on either side with clothing. There is display ‘box’ with jewelry. As you enter into the main section the clothing continues to be displayed in small racks strategically placed. A curio of candles, tables of clothing folded at different levels and vintage looking display cases with jewelry, sunglasses and accessories.
The sales people are friendly and welcoming. They are quiet and don’t ever try to force anything on you. Honestly, it would be easy to think they would be too cool or hip to be bothered, but nothing is far from the truth. You are encouraged to ask questions, really examine the clothes and take your time in making your purchase. If you don’t make one, they are just as happy you were in their store as if you bought your whole wardrobe for a year.
I am below the average height and pushing fifty. Finding clothes that fit and don’t look like I’m trying to be 20 years younger or like my father is a problem. I tend to buy things that I will have for many years and can pull out if a fad comes back, like smaller collars. Each visit has me walking away with items I know I will keep and enjoy putting on for years.
Some people may be put off by their prices. You shouldn’t be. The clothing is very well made and will last you much longer than most stores.
I can only hope this unique store continues to be around for years. As the DC scene has branched-​out and become somewhat of good culinary experience, Redeem is proof that it can have the change when it comes to clothing.

I’ve visited Redeem a few times prior to this past Tuesday, but this review is based on me finally making a purchase. I appreciate a store like this being in DC because it’s unexpected in such a conservatively dressed town. I’m all for edgy looks and brands that aren’t widely known. I had a great conversation with Yasmine, who was extremely helpful with her recommendations and took an interest in the types of looks I prefer. My purchase — a super clean black crew neck made by Korean brand Kai-​aakmann. It’s simple but the design details will definitely catch eyes.

This is the type of store where you can wander in without an agenda and suddenly be drawn to one amazing piece of clothing to brighten up your day (especially if you just burned your entire wardrobe in a bond fire the previous evening),
My first visit to this store yielded me perhaps the best button-​down shirt that I’ve ever owned. Some of the men’s clothing are on the flashier side, not unlike All Saints and Rag and Bone. However, unlike at those stores, I – who usually goes a little more toward the preppy-​ish J. Crew, could actually find some stuff I liked.
The pricing on clothes is surprisingly reasonable for the quality. I would even rate the store as $$, although at the time I’m writing this review it’s listed as $$$.
The staff was friendly and helpful.

Love, love, love this new store! Amazing taste, carefully hand selected pieces, everything goes so well together — clothes, jewelry, music, accessories. A bit edgier selection is exactly what I was lacking in DC boutiques for some time. Prepare yourself for dark colors, a lot of clean lines, different cuts, rusty metal jewelry.
Staff is super friendly and is willing to spend some time with you on mixing and matching different pieces. Nothing of the sort «oh, you look fabulous in this» *rolling eyes*, but honest opinion and advice on how to style an outfit.

where i come to feel like a New Yorker

This is my first review on Unilocal,and generally I don’t feel strongly enough about the places I have visited to write a comprehensive review. I visited Redeem yesterday based on the reviews I read on Unilocal and the lack of men’s clothing boutiques in DC. I was incredibly impressed by the inventory which offered a unique selection of clothing from new and upcoming designers. The inventory is not extensive, but comprehensive.
The clothes are unique and as others have noted, the selection has a rock n’ roll vibe which fits well with what I was looking for, while not being over the top or gaudy. While some have commented that the clothes are a bit pricey, I have no issue paying a bit more for quality clothing from up and coming designers, and I found myself paying less than I would at other upscale boutiques and department stores.
I can’t say enough about the folks who work here. They took the time to assist me with finding clothes that would be a suitable fit for me. They even suggested additional options from other designer’s that I would have looked over if not for their assistance.
The staff are knowledgeable and demonstrate a passion for what they’re selling and doing. I really hope this store is around for while as it is the only one of it’s kind in DC at the moment.

For knickknacks and curios, this is the place to go. If you’re in need of a mechanical pencil from the 1960s, or a can of restorative leather polish, you’ll find everything you seek in the front half of the store.
Venturing deeper, the clothing selections are a mix of eclectic designs from lesser-​known labels, often with asymmetrical cuts that will add the right level of quirkiness to an outfit with a statement piece in leather, jersey cotton, or raw denim.
Staff are helpful and friendly, and have answers to all of your sartorial conundra.

I wandered in this afternoon after lunch, and I love this place…
Super cool owner and sales associate — very helpful, personable and patient.
Great curation of product, from pencils and drawing journals to fabulous jewelry to unique indie brands. There’s a bit of an European and All Saints (UK) aesthetic, which I love… Great women’s denim and soft viscose blend tops.
Range of price points, but nothing to expensive. Fun Le Spec sungasses at $ 59 and thvm skinny denim at $ 145.
* I think it’s sad when fellow Unilocalers give condescending comments like the product is «very ugly and overpriced.» If you only wear J. Crew, Ann Taylor and Banana Republic, then you are not sophisticated enough to appreciate the design in this boutique. The boutique shopper who appreciates BCBG Max Azria and Madewell (which is owned by J. Crew) would enjoy this store. This place is great because they support indie designers and artists, so you won’t find $ 10 tee shirts here; and, like Nathan D. mentioned, this place is almost too cool for dc. For those of you stuck in the world of mass-​produced, fast fashion should try to be open-​minded to supporting local, independent boutiques… as the store tagline says, «its never too late to change…»

I saw absolutely no interesting clothing in this store. They do a good job of marketing to hipsters. The clunky men’s shoes, the bike, the distressed clothes, and artisinal soaps all convey a hip image, but the women’s clothes I saw were so very ugly and overpriced. I really will not spend that much to look bad! Not my cup of tea.

Lauri was a great help when I went in yesterday shopping for a client. Very cutting edge, trendy pieces for guys. Nice European slim fit shirt options. Great options!

i had walked by this place about a bajillion times and never gone in. one day, for some reason, the mood struck and enter i did. am i ever glad that i did!
wow, these clothes are awesome! in dc, it’s not always easy to find unique men’s clothes. banana, brooks brothers, benetton — the Bs (perhaps for Boring) get old after awhile. redeem had unique clothing in muted colors, which i love.
by unique, i mean things like a double back pocket on a pair of jeans — so one one cheek there are two pockets on top of each other. kinda cool. or a button down with two breast pockets — each a different shape. muted uniqueness is even better!
the prices here are a little steep — much steeper than the chain stores i mentioned earlier. but, you get what you pay for, and buying something special isn’t cheap.
i really liked this place and i’ll be back. i wish they would expand!

This shop is a great find on 14^th St. The owner is very nice; the staff is very laid back yet friendly.
The men’s clothes are well chosen. Each piece has a simple detail which sets it off. And if you like it, buy it; otherwise, it will be gone!
Closest thing we have to NY boutique style in DC.

Best style in DC! DC’s style is rather weird — it can be conservative one end to extreme hipster another end, but Redeem brings timeless, edgy style at affordable prices. It’s my fave place to shop in DC and as close to NYC as it gets.
The owner is super laid-​back and knows every designer very well. I love that she supports smaller, independent designers and knows their story and is willing to share it with you. I like to know where my clothes are made and by whom. There’s a good variety from casual to dressier items here; however, sizes are limited so you better buy if you like otherwise it could be gone tomorrow.
Lori and her staff are extremely knowledgeable and resourceful. They are more than happy to look up items for you if they don’t have it in store and contact you should they find it. Don’t forget to check out their one-​of-​a-​kind jewelry!

Redeem reminds me of some of the best places that I used to shop in the Village when I lived in New York City. It offers trendy, edgy clothes that can sometimes be difficult to find in DC.
For example, they offer a lot of things in dark colors with an original twist to them that gives the items an edge to them and makes them unique.
Staff is helpful and very friendly. Prices can be a little high and selection is limited (the venue is small) but there is nothing else quite like this place in DC.
If you are looking for something edgier than what you typically find in DC but not too over the top, this is the place to go.

This is one of my favorite places to shop in DC. Tons of designers that not only make me feel good to wear them but are also unique. The owner is super chill, super nice, and patient enough to answer all my «what do you think about THIS one» questions… and honest enough to tell me when something does not work for me.
If only more DC boutiques would take their cues from Redeem.

Snazzy shop that offers couture for both men and women. While it’s not a large space, they have a pretty varied offering. Seems to me that they have a –little– more stuff for the boys, but it was hard to tell, since some of the styles that they have came across as kind of androgynous to me.
Friendly folks working here. Chill, warehouse-​y raw space.
Oh. And, it’s only the second shop in DC that I’ve encountered that carries Earnest Sewn jeans. Heart.

Redeem is awesome. Why doesn’t it pop up #1 or #2? It should…
I discovered Redeem from other Unilocalers. So I thought… let me give it a shot.
The price point is all over the place. You can catch some great pieces on the sale rack for both men and woman. You’ll never run in to anyone else wearing anything you’ve purchased here because they typically carry one size run of things.
It’s one of the few places in DC you can find creative pieces that you can wear out or to work.
Every time I’ve gone out wearing anything I purchased here, I’ve received tons of compliments, and I always plug the store.
I heart Redeem! Never close!

One of the coolest stores here in the District. The staff is awesome and willing to do special orders for you. The music is edgy as are the clothes. Unfortunately I can’t wear most of the items here to work but I love adding their stuff to my closet which is comprised mostly of JCrew staples.
A little pricey is an understatement– this place is pretty pricey. I don’t know if there is much under $ 75. However, if you want a unique piece that you most likely wont find on anyone else this place rocks.
Way better than the ridiculously overpriced Circle next door.
