Rayburn House Office Building

Ed Royce’s office made our appointment for Memorial Day with a Capitol tour. I questioned the assistant about it being a holiday but he said it wasn’t a problem. I have mobility issues but made the walk from the Metro to the Rayburn Office. Only to find it was closed and we needed to go to another office building. There we were told by security that that office was closed as well and that this mistake is made all the time. Very disappointed and did not appreciate the unnecessary long walk with my mobility issues. Government accuracy???

My Representative, Ed Royce made arrangements for a tour of the Capitol, and asked us to visit his office before the tour.
We arrived on time, but got lost trying to find suite 2310. First we found the directory, which said 3^rd floor, but ended up feeling like little mouse trying to find the cheese.
Eventually we found the right door… 15 minutes after our appointment time.
His staff greeted us, and verified my appointment. They asked if we could leave our jackets and personal belongings in the office, as staff member Paige, escorted us under Independence Avenue to the Capitol Visitor’s Center.
Getting tickets for the Capitol tour is free, but getting the additional tour with a House staff member is priceless.
As many Unilocalers said, add 15 – 20 minutes more to get past the security, and to find your office.

This is the newest and the largest of the three House Office Buildings. We taxpayers paid for the marble excess and huge stairways.
The security was added way after the building was completed, so it’s jammed into the entrances. The guards are polite and efficient, but the lines are long.
Add 10 – 15 minutes for security and another 5 for the long hallways when you figure how early to arrive for a meeting with your Representative. But in the end the Representative will be late so don’t obsess.

Went for a little tour and a lunch with an old college friend. I thought the building was nice and security was as tolerable as they get. The cafeteria’s selections were nice too.
That said, it’s an office building. With really long hallways. Full of politicians. Don’t expect much more!

Come now. It may be the furthest from the Capitol and Cap South (but if you are a staffer you know to take Fed Ctr SW), but it holds the most prestigious members and has excellent views.
Give this beautiful building the respect it deserves!

It’s an office building. Not decorative and the people who inhabit it have their heads up their ass because they are staffers on the Hill making equivalent to what you’d make at McDonald’s. Probably the only interesting thing to say about this building is the women’s bathroom has a powder room separate from bathroom stalls. This is nice since it actually has seating in front of mirror for you to do your make up. Not much to say beyond that.

If you ever wanted to witness an esteemed member of congress with intestinal distress, hang out in the bathrooms. You can be there for hours before security ushers you out. public building, my ass.

I went here to pick up my Inaugural tickets. The security line did not take too long, but they did do an efficient security check, which I appreciate. The inside of the building is not very beautiful, but it serves its purpose. I felt it was a little confusing getting around to find the office I was looking for, but I eventually found it without wasting too much time.

I like to think that the designer of this building meant it to symbolize the American political system, getting you nowhere quick and unnecessarily confusing.
Despite working here for a while, I still managed to get lost in this Shining-​esque maze of wings, hallways and offices that didn’t seem to be numbered in any particular order. The cafeteria was not nearly as good as the one in Longworth. All in all if you are coming here to work for the first time or visiting your congressmember, make sure you know exactly where to go.
