History

Established in 2014.

Bryan B., Owner and Roaster of Rare Bird Coffee Roasters, began taking an interest in coffee around 2009. The catalyst to his coffee making obsession started with a manually operated La Pavoni espresso machine, and his desire to create a fantastic tasting cup of coffee. His roasting experience started with a stove top whirley-​pop popcorn maker that he modified with a probe thermometer, and from there the interesting hobby quickly morphed into a bonafide business idea.

Today at Rare Bird Coffee Roasters, Bryan and his wife Lara, are still in pursuit of creating a great cup of coffee. The Roastery, is located at the «Off The Beaten Track Warehouse» in NE, Washington DC. They are drawn to the exceptional and unique, they seek out and roast coffee that presents distinctive qualities of varietal and origin.
