I had very poor service. And my latte was extremely sweet– not what I expected.

I ordered warm falafel sandwich with red peppers. Good quality and nice representation, but quite far from the taste of falafel I have in mind.

So we were walking to dinner, but needed a coffee pick me up and a bathroom break, so we stumbled into this little shop which as it turns out has plenty of room upstairs to study or read. We started reading the signs on the walls and the idea that they donated food at the end of each day and made everything fresh each day intrigued us and we decided to extend our little break here. Well, one organic coffee, a tangerine juice, and a mac and cheese later… The coffee was good. don’t know if organic coffee is supposed to taste different than regular. but it was good. tangerine juice, tastes like tangerines. and the bacon mac and cheese was delicious. creamy, cheesy, with crispy bacon strips on top. I only wish the bacon was a little smaller pieces so you could easily get it in each bite… but i guess the calories you burn cutting up the bacon yourself allows you to feel less guilty about eating it?

Never been to a Pret until now but have always heard good things. I was not let down! I ordered a pumpkin chai latte(which was great). Usually in these sort of coffee shops/cafes where things are pretty consistent among most locations I’m most impressed by the service. I’ve heard that Pret is known for their kind employees and this location definitely lived up to that. Really nice to talk to a barista while she rang up and made my order! Looking forward to coming in again sometime soon and trying some of the food!

Awesome, quick, convenient, fresh breakfast. Everything was perfect for a Sunday morning. I cannot wait to go back and try lunch. Lunch sandwiches look amazing.

Just delicious. I love that the salads and sandwiches are creative and they change their offerings up every couple months. Today I had an avocado corn salsa flatbread sandwich that I hadn’t seen there before and it was very good! Perfect for the summer. The falafel salad and cobb salad are my staples, and their egg salad with arugula is good too. Really, you can’t go wrong. And no waiting to make your food! I can be in and out in 5 mins. Service is friendly as well. Only thing I would suggest is lowering the prices on soups. A soup +(hearty) sandwich makes for a $ 12 – 14 meal. Or perhaps a side salad + soup deal for $ 10? It would be great to see a $ 10 combo of soup/salad/(hearty)sandwich.

What IS this place? I was looking for a nice café to escape from the hotel lobby where I had been studying, and it was like I stumbled into the Room of Requirement. I’d never heard of Pret A Manger before, but being from California, this place appealed to all my sensibilities. Free Wifi? Check. Friendly staff? You betcha. Quiet upstairs lounge? Absolutely. Not to mention the food was organic. I was in the mood where I didn’t want to spend too much money on food in order to use their wifi, so I got a cup of their lentil soup and a piece of bread came with it. The soup tasted great for lentils, but the important thing was that I felt very safe studying in the upstairs lounge. It had modern and relaxing accommodations. It’s like the café was made for studying! Oh, and did I mention the food is ORGANIC?(It’s expensive, but Californians pay extra for that every time)

The best Chai Latte I have had at a restaurant in a long time. Friendly staff and a good chocolate croissant. I will have to come back the next time I am in this neighborhood.

If you want a regular, plain old cup of coffee, Pret is vastly superior to Starbucks across the street. It’s faster, less expensive, and about as good. My biggest problem with Starbucks has always been that the coffee drinkers have to wait in the same unbearably long line as the latte drinkers. Pret essentially eliminates this problem by making the coffee self-serve. I never went to the old Cosi since I lived on the hill(probably why they closed), and I was initially disappointed that another similar concept was replacing it, but Pret has definitely won me over.

This is a great place that is not seen in many other places in the country. This is a specialty chain restaurant with quality ingredients. I enjoy the yogurts. The Bircher Muesli is delicious! I also purchased the egg and bacon brioche, cookie, mixed bag of nuts! Everything delicious! This is a great inexpensive lunch date type of place. I only wrote this review because I want to make it known that the manager(he had a board in his hand and was looking at inventory) was a little rude to me. They were OUT of the yogurts and I wanted at 10:13am but I wanted to purchase another one. I went out my way to make a trip here. He went in the back to check but then he came back and it was obvious he forgot. When he came back he told me it would be five minutes. I waited ten minutes and when I asked him he said«When he’s done he will bring it out». Well sir that is not a easy place to find a parking spot! When you tell someone five minutes, especially people who are busy five minutes must mean five minutes. I told him that I was at a parking meter and with a attitude he left and came back with a yogurt with shabby toppings :) I am sure he went to the back and was agitated with me and just told the chef to slap it together. It’s ok it was still good but when I say by to a manager or employee in customer service. it would be nice for you to tell me it back! The Pret A Manger on 11th street NW was great and customer service was awesome. The guy at register(the name on receipt said Fred but I hope that wasn’t the other guys ring register because sometimes at restaurants it gets tricky because someones micros card may not work) to be more specific the guy with the all white shirt was nice not the guy who did not ring me! Oh speaking of that the time I asked the gentleman when the items would be ready he rudely rang a guest up without telling me hold on a second. I know it sounds petty but I felt disrespected as a customer. I will be back and yes I am a Unilocaler! Thanks!

I went to Pret A Manger on 10÷18÷14 while I was in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. I wanted somewhere to grab a snack and sit down before I had to work for the evening. I was pleasantly surprised and disappointed at the same time. Pret A Manger occupies the space where Cosi use to be. Cosi had more made to order options available for you to eat then Pret A Manger(where everything is pre-prepared and pre-packaged). The Cosi service although slow at times was much more personable than what I experienced at Pret A Manger. Although the food at Pret A Manger is pre-package; the sandwich, coffee and smoothie I had was rather tasty. I don’t think I would go to Pret A Manger as a 1st choice but if you’re in the area and looking for something quick it isn’t a bad option.

The employees here are genuinely nice people and they’ll help you with whatever you need. Very refreshing to have this kind of service on the hill! The food is super healthy and tasty, my only minor complaint is the food is often too warm coming out of those open fridges. The yogurt was almost room temperature. One note, the coffee is VERY strong. I like strong coffee, but the dark roast was too much for me.

Healthy food that comes fast and is reasonably priced — am I still on Capitol Hill? $ 3.49 for eggs, spinach and quinoa — really nice staff — and plenty of tables and free wireless. This is my new favorite.

I was skeptical about another nichey, chain with cute, glossy marketing. But I was wrong. It is everything that it claims to be: quick, fresh, tasty, clever, healthy, reasonable. I was actually a little annoyed that I hadn’t gotten there first. Now that it actually exists, it is obvious and amazing; like the smart, easy going, hot, horny, independent, girl next door, that is AVAILABLE, and likes ME! Whoa, sorry, just food reviews, right, okay.

To be honest, I was a skeptic for a few reasons. The first being this location moved into the old Cosi space on Pennsylvanie Avenue and I am not the biggest fan of Cosi. Secondly, Pret A Manger is a chain and when it comes to coffee shops, I’d prefer a local shop over a national chain. However, my friends and I were on the hunt for wifi and enough seating so we ventured inside. The inside is very welcoming. The presentation of the food is very simple but inviting and the staff friendly. I ordered an iced latte and it was good(The only thing I’d recommend is adding simple syrup to the bar. They only have regular sugar which means a huge pile of undissolved sugar sits on the bottom of my iced latte as I write this Unilocal review). There are a few seats on the bottom floor, but definitely go upstairs for the prime real estate seating. They have seats for everyone… They have individual tables, couches, cushioned chairs, booths, a long wooden table, and bar seating with plenty of plug ins! It makes this place a hot spot for people needing to work or study when nearby Pound or Peregrine are full(which they usually are). The one downside was the wifi. I came here with two friends and the wifi worked on my friend’s iPhone, but did not work on my laptop or my other friend’s laptop. To fix that, we bummed wifi off of Good Stuff Eatery next door(Hint: their wifi is password protected, but the password is «goodstuff.» Easy). If the manager of Pret A Manger is reading this… great job! I hope tons of people come here to read, work, and study because the second floor is AWESOME! Two suggestions: Get simple syrup and make sure the wifi works well. That’s clutch!
