To be fair, I never got my haircut here. I walked in with my old black dog and they asked me to leave because dogs aren’t welcome. I was a little taken aback since so few places(that don’t serve food) are downright anti-man’s best friend. But that’s their right. I won’t be going back.

I have been getting my hair cut regularly at Popular Cuts since moving to D.C. three years ago. I am very picky about my haircuts. But when I find a good barber, I always keep coming back. Barrie does a tremendous job every time. He knows exactly how I want my hair — I don’t even have to tell him anymore. I just take a seat and let Barrie do his job. This is a great neighborhood spot. With all the real estate development that has occurred in Mt. Vernon Triangle during the past few years and the influx of luxury apartments, it is great to see that this small business is still here and thriving! Let’s hope it stays that way!

Barrie hooked me up! Great barber shop, barbers actually care about how you do your own hair, and take the time to make sure you are 100% satisfied before they let you outo of the chair. I came in with a mop of hair on my head and left looking and feeling great. I will definitely be a regular customer.

First timer at Popular Cuts. Showed Barry a picture of my previous cut to show what I wanted. Not only did he give me exactly what I wanted, he made it look even better! Friendly, affordable, and top quality. Will definitely be coming back!

After getting tired of the ridiculous prices at my previous barber, I decided to try out a different barber shop. The price ended up being the same, but was more logical. I thought the haircut was pretty good too.

If you are looking for a great haircut, thoughtful conversation, and some soulful music, Popular Cuts is the place for you. I got my hair cut by Barry and it could not have been better: stylish when I left, and short enough for my hair grow nicely without me having to get it cut again for a while. With a groovy music list(lots of songs that have been sampled in rap) in the background, Barry, myself, and two other customers chatted about Detroit and the changes in Shaw/Mount Vernon. Popular Cuts predates the surrounding high rises and provides some much-needed soul to the neighborhood. The place comes highly recommended by me.

I’ve been to Popular Cuts three times now and have gotten trims from three different barbers. Can’t praise any of them enough — each one was great, and I’ve never had a second thought about giving them a visit. My latest trip, Frederick probably gave me the best cut of the three. Popular Cuts warm and welcoming and you should give them a shot if you live or do business in Chinatown.

Danny S. Barry has been my barber for over twenty years. During that time he has never failed to satisfy me as a client. He has impressed me with his honesty, great personality, and professionalism. So, if you want a great haircut and excellent overall service, you can’t go wrong with Popular Cuts.

OMG. This is the worst haircut experience in my life. The barber doesn’t care about your words and behave rudely. The hairstyle is totally against your expected one. Believe me: get rid of this barber shop as much as possible!

Worst haircut I’ve ever had. Went in for a trim, they jacked it up, then shaved my head out of spite AND still demanded $ 25 for the cut, AND it took over an hour. Worst haircut experience of my life!

My office recently moved to Chinatown, and i was looking for a new barber shop. My hairstyle is pretty simple, so I prize convenience, speed, and price. Went as a walk in without an appointment in the morning. There was only one barber on duty and there was one person ahead of me, but the wait ended up being a bit long. When it was my turn the guy on duty was friendly, listened carefully to what I wanted, and was very polite to me. The end result? Exactly what I asked for, done well. Thought $ 24 was a bit expensive, but their rent is probably going up with all the new luxury condos around. Overall it was a good haircut in a good atmosphere, and will probably become my regular place.

Needed a haircut while in DC and found Popular Cuts through Unilocal!I will be honest as that’s the whole premise behind what make Unilocal!so helpful. This is an old school black barbershop that wasn’t too far from the movies of the same name. I was the only white guy in the joint, but I felt comfortable and welcome the entire time. That said, if you’re someone who’s uncomfortable being the minority then this may not be the barber for you. This experience was replete with the street hustler stopping in to sell«his» iPad for cash only. There’s even a pay phone on the wall but I don’t know of it works or not! The calendar on the wall is stuck on September 2013 and the silky sounds of the classic soul countdown on SiriusXM completed the ambiance. I really enjoyed debating LeBron’s return to Cleveland and whether or. It the Wizards or Redskins were making the playoffs — these delusional folks actually think RGIII is the answer! I was a little concerned that my haircut might not be that great but my barber Shamea did a great job. The cut cost $ 24 which is about $ 10 more than I’m used to paying at home in Florida, but all in all it was money well spent. Everyone made sure to welcome me back — even the regular customers. Good stuff.

I have been coming to Barrie, the shop owner, for over ten years. At times others have cut my hair, but I’m always glad to come back to Barrie because he understands my strange head. Plus the bonus is the barbershop experience — debates and good music. Loooove Popular Cuts!

After years of going to the Grooming Lounge for my haircut I decided to take a risk and stop by my local barber shop on a whim and could not be happier. This is the classic barber shop. Clip or trim and thats it. No nonsense and all these guys know how to cut hair. Popular cuts is a barber shop and does not apologize for it. Stop in an see Ronald. He has the first chair and the nicest guy around.
