Half-decent pizza, but for nearly $ 5 a slice, I could have one freshly made, just for me(not just pulled from a pre made rack), and delivered right to my door. Definitely not returning unless I’m drunk at o-dark-thirty.

It’s so easy sometimes to complain about the ways in which DC is deficient to New York, and I often feel it’s an unfair comparison. In at least one way though, namely widespread availability of decent quality pizza by the slice, New York definitely puts us to shame, and this place doesn’t add much to our credentials. One look tells you all you need to know: no ambiance, ambivalent staff, and some pretty desultory fare that has obviously been sitting behind the glass long enough to lose much of its appeal and flavor, even upon reheating in the oven. The crust tends to be dry and tasteless and the sauce has too much oregano trying desperately to cover up the bland sogginess of the toppings. Unless you’re staying at the hotel next door, it’s after closing time for the other options within the surrounding area, or you’re so desperate for pizza above all other foodstuffs, I can’t see any reason to eat here. If you meet any of those criteria, though, at least you’ll get a slice that’s edible.

Not fantastic, but OK. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here, but if you feel like pizza while staying local it’s not a total disaster. Pizza is soft; I like a crispier crust. Cheese was generous. Pepperoni was bland. Lots of grease. Have to say the pizzas are pretty big, but there was very little taste.

I was less than impressed. Stayed at the hotel next door, and decided to get a quick dinner. Grabbed 10 pieces of pizza(portions are large) and a Caesar salad. The pizza was eh the stuffed pizza was AWFUL. Wayyy to much spinach and broccoli, caesars were average. The croutons were burnt, dressing had toooooooo much vinegar. I was not impressed. So I recommend walking a few extra blocks for quality food that you don’t have to pay a fortune for!

Pizza is average… the 4 stars are for their gelato. It is delicious! If I had not walked into the restaurant, I would have never known they offer gelato. Perhaps some sidewalk advertising will bring in more gelato customers… a great find on a hot May day!

Oh goodness. I didn’t eat the pizza, so I can’t comment on that. I ordered a panini. Once I ordered it, I knew I was in trouble when she took it out of the fridge. My heart sank further as she stuck it in the microwave. I should’ve stopped her then, but I was hungry and tired. After a minute in the microwave, she took it out, took off the plastic wrap(!) and put it on to grill in the panini contraption. I now sit in a hotel, wondering why I even brought it all the way back here. It’s lukewarm(shockingly after all that time in the microwave), soggy as it could possibly be, and bland. So bland. Needless to say, I wouldn’t recommend a visit. At least not for a panini. But if they don’t care about the quality of that food, why would they care about anything else.

Excellent Pizza. I also like their stromboli.

So so. Pizza not bad but what you see is what you get when you come in to eat. In other words, I came in around 5 pm to order a particular pannini. they had none out on the heating pads or whatever and said they couldn’t make it. Also the service was rude. Wouldn’t go back.

I’ve had pizza 3 times from here, and every time it’s been delicious. The crust is more doughy — which I like. The works pizza is really good — very fresh tasting ingredients. Will definitely continue to go back.

Soooo I stopped in a few weeks ago for a quick slice and was surprised at how yummy this local pizza joint was. I usually go for the simple stuff, pepperoni and sausage, or just plain cheese and this spot definitely tickled my tastebuds. I gave this 4 stars because the pizza is much tastier than I thought it would be. Kind of close to one of my favorite NY style pizza joints in the city. Great for a quick slice on the go!

I was not a big fan. The service is good but the pizza isn’t wonderful. There is also very limited seating. I strongly discourage folks from ordering the Stromboli.

Fast. Good. Pricey. Limited toppings at any given time. It would have been nice to have at least one white pizza. The staff was ok but seemed to want to rush you to order. Outside seating is great for people watching during lunch hours.

I was surprised at how good this pizza was. I didn’t expect too much from a D.C. chain on the corner of a southwest block. But the slices were reasonably priced, very delicious and the joint actually wasn’t too jampacked to make it annoying or anything. I think it’s JUST far enough from most of the government buildings to avoid getting quite as overrun as the café next door or Potbelly. Don’t let the NY-style crust throw you off. My slices didn’t get too sloppy or soggy. I had a few toppings slide off, but nothing major. This wasn’t something to make it on my top five list or anything for pizza, but I’d definitely eat it again. I also am interested in some of their more creative options like stuffed pizza, and the strombolis looked good as well.

Ho hum. Pizza is greasy, selection is limited, and the staff bark at you(they love to scream«what are you having» as you’re in line). It’s also awkward that you have to walk over a mechanical shaft grating to get to the front door.

Pizza was good. Sauce in the pizza was very good. Great flavor and taste. Didn’t care for the thinness if the dough.

It’s a small place with only a few tables inside. The price is ok and the food is good. But they do get you going fast if you are running between meetings.

This is what dreams could be made of. All of the ducks in a row and it could be a knock out of the park. I spent the entire day with friends from out of town and after a long day of hoofing it around we landed here. One of the guys in the group actually raved about the breakfast Stromboli that he had here today. He insisted on returning here for lunch. He insisted on ordering… For everyone… Never a fan of the total surprise meal but if yo insist. They boast of serving an authentic Neopolitain styles pizza. Last time I heard, Neopolitain was with San Marzanos and mozzarella cheese. The pizzas that arrived were just made with a standard tomato sauce and a blend of cheeses and light garlic. The new fan of the pizzaria ordered for us and what arrived was a Caesar salad that I will say has seen better days. Romaine lettuce was tepid and lacked flavor. I really didn’t expect much more. The veggie pizza was standard. Nicely layered black olives, button mushrooms bell pepper and slice tomato. Chewy dough but a bit heavy handed on the cheese. It basically negated the flavor of the garlic tomato sauce. The ingredients were half baked and then baked to order and I am only a fan of this if vegetables are not involved. I would have rather waited for a fresh vegetable pizza. It was like the vegetables were roasted. Not that much of a difference in texture. No harm. just my preference. The Stuffed Pizza was like a baked pie. Totally different dough brushed with a butter or egg like substance for a shinny appearance. Flaky with good taste. It was stuffed with sausage, pepperoni and mozzarella and a side of that flat marinara sauce. The sauce I could over look but the grease that was released from the pork products was all over the place. A friend complained that her fork was melting. And before I could say a word her sister told her that it could be worse. It could be cold! I think that it would be a better idea to keep the marinara warm but then that would mean that they would need to portion it as they put the items together. The plastic cups would not hold up! This place has the potential to put out a consistent product but I really think that it will not. It is solid for the person looking for a quick slice of variety but just not for me.

The pizza here was good, but not the best. We were thankful this place was even open since there is really no restaurants in the area that are open past regular business hours. Pizza Autentica was open until 11:30pm on a Friday night. They saved us from starvation! I really wanted a salad, but at 7:30pm, I was told there was no more salad. I think after certain hours they only sell what is left sitting under the heat lamps. Prices were pretty good. The pizza was a little over $ 4 for a slice.

I sort of want to give this place one star, but I was in a terrible mood when I ate there and I want to be fair, so I am giving it the 2 stars it probably deserves. Pros include: +Price. Huge slices of thin crust pizza positively smothered in pepperoni for less than $ 3 a piece in downtown D.C. is a great deal. +Outdoor seating on a lovely spring day. Cons include: –They were ‘out’ of everything but the pizzas they had out, meaning you had a choice of only pepperoni or cheese pizza. They had no stromboli or anything else on the menu. –They did not explain why and were actually kind of rude about it, –The pizza was at best extremely mediocre. It was greasy and to me slightly gross. This place is okay in a pinch and for the price but I would never recommend going here.
