Peacock Café is a tradition in Georgetown life. Nestled in the heart of the neighborhood, we serve a menu inspired by classic American cuisine with the volume turned up. Our sidewalk seating is a local hotspot for the who’s who of Georgetown regulars during the seasonal weather, and we’re proud to house one of the top brunches in the city.

Founded by James Beard award-​winner Chef Maziar Fariver, our eclectic menu offers something for everyone, including extensive gluten-​free and vegetarian dishes. We proudly purchase and use some of the finest quality raw ingredients available in the market and are committed to supporting sustainable farming and fishing. Some customer favorites include the Omelet Chesapeake, burgers with extra crispy peacock fries, and drinks from the Fresh Juice Bar.

Established in 1991.

Since 1991, Peacock Café has been the cornerstone of the Georgetown neighborhood for over 20 years. Our mission is to serve high quality, classic American fare in a vibrant and friendly setting, and we are committed to supporting sustainable farming and fishing by purchasing ingredients that are fresh, organic, cage-​free, free of growth hormones, and USDA certified. With many years of a colorful history, we look forward to serving our locals for many years to come!

With a strong background in the restaurant business, Shahab Farivar opened Peacock Café in June 1991 with his brother Maziar Farivar as the executive chef. Bringing all the flavors of his childhood memories and family recipes together from over 32 years of experience, Shahab and his brother began a new culinary chapter at the popular neighborhood staple that houses one of the first fresh juice bars in the city. His dream was always to provide high quality food and excellent service at a moderate price, and he looks forward to making all Peacock Café fans proud for many years to come.

Most reviews of this restaurant focus on brunch. We most certainly came for dinner: Saturday, 8 PM.
We had tuna carpaccio, which was served from a disc mold. Presentation was nice: round disc of tuna with a spray of ‘dressing’ swigged over the top. The tuna was ground, not diced. It was fresh and delicious. I really liked that the ‘disc’ of tuna was served over a duplicate disc of goma wakame, or what we call seaweed salad. I never saw it presented like this, but I liked it.
My dinner partner ordered a mussel appetizer. I cannot comment. She did not share; but between the lines, that speaks volumes.
My entrée was a rabbit, squash fettuccine; cannot believe how good it was. Now I’m on a quest… To re-​create tat at home. But that’s another story.
My dinner partner had the pesto risotto. It was huge, and (apparently) well received. Did I mention she doesn’t share good food she really likes?
My concern is that there is too much focus on brunch. This place rocks dinner too. Listed as Contemporary American, which in my mind undermines the Persian influence. They have a few starters (hummus, dolme, nazz khatoon) as well as quaymeh; a lamb stew.
I can’t wait to return and review these too.

Yes the food is really good. Tomato Bisque and strawberry lemonade could not have been done better.
However, the best part was the service. From the host to the waiter to the owner, they all extended us warm welcomes. We were with a baby and they brought us a high chair with out request. The owner, Shahab, was incredibly pleasant. You could feel his kindness came genuinely from the soul. He would glide between tables wooing each patron individually. Every customer that came in seemed like an old friend of the place, greeting the staff as old friends would.
In an area saturated with over rated and tourist trap restaurants Peacock Café is a diamond in the rough.

Went here last Friday with my girlfriends for happy hour. The staff was amazing and the owner was there and was extremely nice. They have a good happy hour and a nice regular menu. The pricing is decent and I love the cuteness of the restaurant. I will definitely come back again :)

Ate here for brunch this morning– had the most delightful time! The service was great and the smoothies and food were perfectly done. I had the blueberry smoothie, mint lemonade and the best quiche I’ve ever eaten. Prices were totally reasonable and didn’t even have to wait for a table. It makes a great meet up spot for friends and dates– a must go!

In town for a wedding and left us searching for brunch the following day. We headed towards Georgetown and pleasantly surprised since our cab driver recommended the spot. A little bit of a wait but was able to grab a nice spot outside in the sun. French toast hit the right spot

Second visit to this lovely restaurant. It’s off the beaten path in Georgetown but boy is it worth it. It is one of my musts when I am in DC. The food is delightful. The staff is properly attentive. Good wine list. It’s also a really pretty restaurant.

3.5 STARS *** The Peacock Café is a cute little place for brunch. Located in Georgetown, the restaurant is only a short walk away from the main shops. There is also a convenient parking garage right next door (although be aware that it can get expensive at $ 9 an hour).
My friends and I came here on a Sunday and it was very busy! I highly recommend making reservations if you plan on visiting during the weekend. The café had seating both indoor and outdoor, as well as a bar. I ordered the All-​American ($ 14.95), which included two eggs, choice of meat (bacon, ham, or chicken sausage), home-​fried potatoes, and a biscuit. I opted for bacon and requested french fries instead of potatoes, which they allowed.
My eggs were cooked as requested (over medium) and the overall meal was tasty. The bacon was flavorful and juicy (not too crispy, which I liked) and I thoroughly enjoyed their thinly cut french fries. The majority of my friends ordered their eggs benedict and everyone enjoyed their food. It did take us a while to get our checks, but our sever was very polite. We also appreciated the fact that they were able to split our checks very easily.
Overall a decent place for brunch, although it is more on the pricey side.

Possibly one of the best and most expensive omelets I’ve ever had. Not sure any of the ingredients justify it being $ 17 but the egg white, spinach, roasted red pepper and black bean omelet with fruit was delicious and a great, healthy, breakfast. Fruit was nice and fresh, too.
My boyfriend and his sister also enjoyed their meals. I was disappointed that they don’t have any non-​dairy options for their coffee drinks. Soy milk seems like a pretty easy thing to keep on hand…
Anyway, I’d definitely be open to coming back to try the lunch/​dinner and drinks next time.

Omg– you can’t get much fresher or healthier than this. Brunch is awesome. Get a fresh made juice. Multigrain pancakes are light and yummy. Egg white veggie omelet is amazing. Also veggie nachos. Perfect! And the staff is so friendly and healthy. Can’t wait to come back!

Based on the name, one would expect Persian cuisine, but this is more of a mixed menu. I went for lunch and did the prix fixe option. While I didn’t have any issues with the service (except maybe toward the end) or saltiness of food, Jeong’s review sums up the lunch here nicely: food is fine, but nothing to go out of your way for.
I had the Med salad, baked ravioli, and chocolate chip cookie with ice cream. No complaints on anything. The salad was fresh. Baked ravioli was filling. The chocolate chip cookie was good. However, none of it stood out to me.
Peacock Café is quite pretty, and service was friendly and professional, though my server disappeared and it took a long time to get the check.
From other reviews, it seems like brunch might be better. Again, lunch here is fine, and you will not leave hungry.

Went here for a weekday brunch after working up an appetite from Georgetown shopping! Very cute place with a nice patio. I ordered the pancakes with banana and walnuts. The pancakes were great, very light, fluffy, and perfectly circular! Syrup mix of banana and walnut was subpar. DC had gotten me used to maple syrup used in brunch and this syrup just seemed like anything factory made from a bottle. Aside from that little disappointment this was a nice place. Service was a little slow and instead of the check the waiter brought the dessert menu, then disappeared for a while.
There’s likely better brunch in Georgetown, with waterfront views too, but this place does have good food so no need to rule them out whatsoever!

After having to deal with the DMV on an early Saturday AM, we decided to find some breakfast in the Georgetown area. Unilocal pulled up Peacock with great reviews, so we said why not! The service was great and food was delicious! They have plenty of gluten free options as well! Only downfall to this place, and perhaps it’s because of the area it’s located in — you’ll see yourself spending close to $ 20 for an omelet or simple breakfast plate. Just a bit too pricey in my opinion, so this may not become our usual go to after all.

We went here for a 21st birthday brunch! First of all, I made reservations through open table and whenever I have used the special requests or comments section, I have never had an experience where the restaurant follows it. But here they did! When making the reservation I made a note that it was a 21st birthday and they were the only restaurant all weekend to pay attention to it. So yay to them!
The food was great! It wasn’t the absolute best brunch I have had in the city, but it will do. It was a Friday brunch and make note that they do not serve eggs benedict during the weekday brunches :(I was disappointed but ordered the salmon omelet and it was GREAT! You get a good amount of salmon with it.
My sister had the multigrain pancakes. I don’t usually like pancakes or multigrain that much but I enjoyed these! The syrup came out warm with the bananas and walnuts mixed in with it.
The simply scrambled eggs were just that — easy and simple eggs that came with a bagel, cream cheese, and fruit.
Good dining experience as far as brunch goes! Not the most unique choices but it gets the job done.

3.5 Stars! Classic brunch fair. I had an omelet with fries, my friend had the burger. Both were simple and tasty! Add in some coffe and good service and you have a solid brunch spot. No wait for a tsble in Gtown on a Sunday… sold!

A neighborhood favorite, Peacock Café is great for everyday dining, group dinners, and weekend brunches. Consistently good quality food and friendly service with a variety of options spanning from healthy choices to comfort food. In the best way possible Peacock Café is a solid B+; it’s never going to blow your mind, but will never leave you disappointed. Reservations recommended, especially if you plan on brunching with a group larger than four.
Bonus points for being one of the only places in Georgetown with a selection of fresh pressed juices!

My friend’s boyfriend arranged a surprise birthday brunch for her here on a Saturday for 20 people. I was amazed that they could accommodate such a large party, even though they had to split us up into two tables.
I didn’t think there was anything too great about their food selection. I ordered the corn beef hash, but I couldn’t finish it all because it was way too salty. I tasted a friend’s Peacock Eggs Chesapeake, which was pretty standard eggs and crab benedict.
There is a garage next door and a parking lot across the street, so parking isn’t too big of an issue. It’s on a street parallel to M street so it was quieter and had more room.

Hot damn did I miss out by not going to this place sooner.
To be fair of only been here once. However my friends whom took me here really dig this place. I can see why.
We ordered three appetizers, 4 entrees and bunch of drinks. None were disappointing! I ordered the cod which was super interesting. The spinach and figs were my favorite part. The cod was just okay, but I was enjoying the sides more.
My friends ordered the fillet, the swordfish and another dish I forgot about. After looking at my friends fillet I was super jealous. I’m not a steak person but that night I would’ve been. The swordfish was really good and very savory. If I go back I would get the swordfish prepared the way the cod was, if possible.
Our server was Terry. He was jovial, knowledgeable, funny and wasn’t pushy at all. He kind of reminded me of the last musketeer Dartanian, he just had swagg like that. He was even nice enough to put up with my friends who can be a pain in the a** to go out and eat with.
Our drinks for good. We sampled a couple dark and blonde Belgian beers. For the hard stuff it was just screwdrivers and vodka and soda for me. 1 had me feeling good.
My only regrets where not coming here sooner and not being all that hungry. Would I go back, you bet!

Came here with a friend for Sunday brunch. I had the peacock eggs Benedict which had crab. Oh yes. That was delicious! Bread was thick. Crab was tasty, and the eggs were perfectly poached on top. I substituted the quinoa for fries. It was good and had a chewy texture and dried fruit in it. Drinks were equally delicious. The place is small and cozy. Bathroom was clean– there are two single person women’s rooms. When I didn’t see the second one, and was waiting, someone came and told me about it. I strongly suggest making a reservation due to the size and popularity of the place.

My girlfriends and I were looking for a brunch place in Georgetown that took reservations and wasn’t super expensive. After several calls, I was led to Peacock Café. After looking at their menu and finding out that they take reservations, we chose Peacock Café.
I arrived a few minutes late but my friends were able to be seated without all of us there (bonus point number 1). We then realized that we didn’t need all of the seats that we reserved. We told the manager who moved our table around and also gave us a round of drinks on the house for our trouble. Though it wasn’t any trouble on our part, the group I was with including myself is pretty laid back. But it’s a nod to Peacock Café’s hospitality so bonus point number 2).
The great thing about brunch is that you can lean either towards breakfast or towards lunch. I wanted brunch and had read on other reviews to try their peacock eggs Chesapeake. It’s their take on the eggs benedict but with crab meat instead of traditional ham or salmon. I also ordered the bellini. I was very pleased with my dish and my drink. You could see the crab (bonus point 3). There was a good amount of crab and not a lot of filler which I prefer. The crab itself was flavorful but a bit too much salt for my taste. The eggs were cooked well and complimented the crab.
Service was very good while we were at brunch. I’m not just saying that because of the extra drink, service was just very good. Good food and good service, good place to go for Sunday Brunch in Georgetown.

I went here for brunch this past Saturday at the recommendation of some friends who frequent this restaurant. When we walked in, we were greeted politely by the hostess, who informed me that there would be a 20 – 30 minute wait. As we were hungry, and they didn’t seem overly busy, I suggested to my friends that we wait it out. About five minutes later, she informed us that there was a table available. PRAISE! I was so glad we hadn’t left the restaurant.
The hostess led us to our table, and we were greeted by a very nice waiter. He offered us mugs for the coffee that we had brought in with us. I thought that was especially nice — politeness and attentiveness go a long way.
With regard to the food, the brunch menu didn’t seem to be especially varied, so I ordered the All-​American breakfast. You can’t go wrong with eggs, home fries, bacon, and a biscuit. It was good, but it didn’t blow me away.
I especially liked the atmosphere, which I found to be cozy — perfect for brunch.
So why did I only give Peacock Café four stars? I think after hearing so many great things about this establishment, my expectations were much greater. I’ll need to revisit this restaurant, and see if the next go round is better.
