Was recommended by family but counter staff was not friendly, burger was undercooked, fries were delish, but they wanted 60 cents for a 12 oz. refill on a soft drink ! Really!!!

Good Reuben. Cash only. I wanted the crab cake but they were out. Fries are decent. Burgers are great. Milkshakes are average.

Stopped in before sightseeing, looked interesting from the outside. Lady at the register taking orders was not friendly and downright rude when I tried to pay with a credit card– if you’re cash only, please have signs both on your door and by the register! I had some cash on me and my friend covered the rest. We should have just left at that point. Food was mediocre and very over priced, and the place is dingy & pretty creepy. Do not recommend– you’re better off at any of the other places in the neighborhood.

Friendly staff, but blah food. Counter service with plastic utensils and served on paper plates. I had breakfast but the cops at the adjoining table has burgers. They burgers looked good. But not good enough for me to go back.

Once was more than enough. From the outside you look and say either quant fun hidden gem food or cheesy train wreck and it’s approaching the latter. Cash only. Out of he first 2 things we ordered. Couple of local citizenry drunks spitting in garbage and swearing up a storm. Food was ok, yummy fries. Couldn’t tell you about the Reuben or fish sandwich since they were out. Oh and they fill small cups with ice and charge for refills. $ 28 for 2 is waste.

It’s gross. The fries had too much seasoning and no flavor if that makes any sense. If you want fries or a better atmosphere, DC has so many other options. Not a good at all.

Washington institution, I guess, since it’s been here forever. So I had to try it. 2 kids burgers and a hot dog and a few milk shakes were $ 40. I’m not cheap but that’s way overpriced. The place is filthy. If you can get past that and the crumbling ceiling and sticky surfaces… The burger was decent, fries ok. Tiny Hot dog sits among a huge dry bun. Everything was cold which is baffling since it’s all made to order. And the food took forever even though the place was empty. Also not pleasant was the owner who stopped in with his date(maybe wife) barking at his staff about the proper way to stack trays so that customers can see the food being prepared. Hmmm… Perhaps you should take a hard look at how dirty and decrepit your place is instead of the sight lines for food prep. The stacked trays are the least of your worries compared to the dust and grime everywhere.

They have the best seasoned fries in DC. I love this place.

Its a burger place nothing more. Dirty, greasy, and gritty. If youre from out of town Id pass. If you dont like pink meat pass. And if you dont carry cash I’d pass. They do have an atm but still.

Decent food, but get ready to wait. Maybe my experience was atypical, considering it was Easter weekend, and a Saturday. It’s a prime location, a couple of blocks away from the National Mall. Still, the wait was excessive — 40 minutes for 3 burgers and an order of fries. Cash only, with no obvious signage. There is an ATM in the back of the restaurant. Carpet looks like its from Chuck-E-Cheese, and a homeless man came in with his dog into the crowded dining area. There are some tables outside, and some antique kiddie amusements inside(no touching). A moderate step up from a fast food restaurant.

The absolute best burger ever!!! So we decided to check this place out. I had the bacon cheese burger. This was soooo good and flavorful. The fries were good and freshly made. The burgers are made to order so don’t be in a rush. Make sure you either have some cake or take a piece with you to go. NOCREDITCARDS cash only.

Love a good burger place, especially old fashioned ones and this place looks the part with antique soda machines and popcorn makers. Really a great atmosphere. I got the Ollie burger with swiss and mushrooms and the seasoned fries. Except they ran out of mushrooms. The burger was supposedly medium, but wound up being quite rare. A tad more than I like as the thick 8oz patty was quite rare. the bun was roasted and great, and the lettuce, pickles and tomatoes were good. Burger on the whole was good, just a tad undercooked for me. Fries are terrific and seasoned perfectly. They give a lot, so keep that in mind as two can easily share the one that comes with a combo. Great burger, better fries, and terrific place to visit.

In town visiting with two other of my friends and after a long morning of walking a burger sounded phenomenal. We walked into an empty restaurant, which should have been the first clue. After ordering she was very snappy about us going and sitting down and waiting for our number to be called, even though we weren’t given a number and then gave us an attitude when she called our number and we weren’t responding. Getting our food, fries were cold, bacon was cold and the burger literally still moo-Ing. When giving one of our burgers back because it was so raw and cold in the middle they took it and just threw it back on the grill. When just asking for a new burger they put up an argument and it took us getting upset about it for them to do it Very expensive, not very clean, I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Ollie’s is what it is! It is fun to visit and look around at all of the old, weird stuff. But, bottom line, it is just a little pricey and a littttttle dirty for my taste. Damn good burger tho. I got an ollie burger, no cheese. I actually enjoyed the burger so much that I think next time I would get it without the lettuce, toms, and onion. The meat(seasoned so well & cooked to perfection btw) and sauce combo was pretty perfect. Fries are delish the seasoning on them is just what you would expect for 26 herbs! Minus the 2 stars bc it is cash only, a little pricey, and a little dirty; that being said, doesn’t mean I won’t be back bc those burgers are juicy and delicious.

This is a greasy burger joint that started in North Miami. The story is that in the 30s the chef/owner would throw you out if you asked for ketchup or something other than medium rare. This location opened about 25 years ago. The burgers are big. The burgers are greasy. The burgers are good. Get the combo with the seasoned fries and ask for extra napkins.

We decided to grab lunch at Ollie’s Trolley on our way to seeing the sights. It looked like an old-timey greasy burger joint, and we figured if it had lasted for as long as it looked it had, it must be good. Upon entering, we saw several locals eating here, another good sign. We both ordered the bacon cheeseburger with a side of fries. The cashier writes your order on a big piece of paper towel, which goes on a tray, upon which your food is eventually placed. I was a little surprised at the cost, but hey, we’re on vacation. The inside is a bit run down looking, and I did see a bug crawling on the booth seat as we were leaving. They also have 5 or 6 air fresheners mounted on the wall in the dining area, which is odd. A restaurant shouldn’t smell bad enough to require air fresheners. Our food was made fresh and our number was called. I was only slightly irritated when the side of ranch I ordered and paid for(and was clearly written on the paper towel) was forgotten. But, it wasn’t too much hassle to ask the cook for it over the counter. Burger was meh. It had an orange sauce somewhat resembling thousand island dressing on it that I did not see listed as an ingredient and I did not look. The burgers were cooked perfectly temperature-wise. I added avocado and it was not sliced correctly to fit on a burger, I had to reslice it myself. FRIESWEREAMAZING. If I was back in D.C. I would probably go here just for a huge plate of fries. They have a great seasoning on them and I couldn’t get enough. Dip them in ranch, dip them in ketchup, awesome. For a greasy burger place, it was A-OK, although a bit overpriced for the quality in my opinion.

Came across this diner after a long day of touring DC. It had that antique/circus theme, which grabbed my attention. I tried their #1 Ollie Burger Combo, which came with fries and a drink. I asked for cheese not knowing that they would add an additional $ 0.60 until I got the receipt. All together was $ 13.30, which isn’t that bad since it’s in DC but it was still a little pricey for the quality and amount of food. The Ollie burger is an 8 Oz 100% beef patty. I was disappointed and I already had a bad feeling that it wouldn’t be that good by just the look of it — it did not look hot off the grill & it looked like something that i could make myself. It was very dry and the buns seemed as if it was left outside for a while because it was cold and was not soft. There were no special sauce or anything. The fries were decent, they added some seasoning but nothing extraordinary.

Stumbled upon this place as my friend is obsessed with«vintage, long running, cool looking diners» and I guess this fit her criteria. Certainly not my cup of tea as it was filled with random trinkets(random wheel, mini carousel, coke cooler) that all said do not touch, but if you’re into that kind of thing ITS A MUST! Ollie’s trolley has your basic diner menu — cheese burgers, shakes, steak combos, and also some cool things like Crab cakes and beer combos. I got the Ollie burger combo for about 11 dollars. The fries aren’t too greasy and have a nice spice mix to it and the burger was pretty flavorful and cooked perfectly, but I wouldn’t go here again for the price and the venue itself. Overall, I had a pleasant experience and it fulfilled me on such a cold day!

Oh, the nostalgia, Ollie’s Trolley is a throwback to those days of colorful diners, a greasy spoon that is a vegan’s worst nightmare and a courageous carnivores best friend. Yes, the décor here is akin to something you might find in a carnival with carousel horses here and there, but when it is all said and done, it is all about the Ollieburger. The Ollieburger is Ollie’s answer to the mega burger, and those who have an aversion to grease need not apply. I ordered mine to go and the counter lady double bagged it, saving me the embarrassment of watching my Ollie eat its way though the paper bag. This juicy, heart-stopping burger is not something I would snarf down on a regular basis, but everyone should try to dance with the devil at least once… just make sure that you are ready for a long nap after this gut-buster. As for the fries, they were too spicy for my taste, but I an told that they have a following. I tried to finish them, but in the end, I had to pass on these babies. Still, my stop at Ollie’s was entertaining and enjoyable, and although things might have been a bit greasy for my taste, this diner is pretty cool.
