Number Nine

Great place but super judgy crowd early Saturday. I felt no love. 2 for 1 night but 12 bucks for a vodka Sprite. Weak, bartender was a space cadet who only responds to similarly ripped white bearded men. Shame because the music was great, nice setup… just too much desperation. Next.

I had high hopes but was ultimately disappointed with an unfriendly staff… Nice, clean atmosphere but the bartenders act like it’s an inconvenience to their texting to serve you or talk to you (maybe this is a thing of the past?)… Probably wouldn’t go back.

Awesome location right near one of the best restaurant neighborhoods in the city and conveniently located near 14^th St bars, friendly staff, and excellent drink specials (2 for 1).
Came here on a Monday night with a group of friends and certainly enjoyed the drink specials, fun crowd, and Bianca — the drag queen providing side commentary to Rupaul’s Drag Race airing on all of the TV’s.
Overall, a lot of fun and worth checking out. Make sure to eat beforehand, otherwise you will only have complimentary popcorn to eat.

The drinks are strong and very well priced! The one bartender I interacted with was nice. Definitely a gay bar so not many women but it was still a decent experience.

My wife and I stumbled on this bar by complete accident 2 years ago as we searched for wedding venues. That afternoon we attempted to close our tab 4 times, and 4 hours later we had made great connections.
Talk about STRONG drinks, great atmosphere and amazing vibe. It is now 2+ years later, we frequent this place often and they still have their happy hour BOGO which is easy on the pockets.
We have bought plenty of our friends here and they love this place. Definitely one of, if not, my favorite bar in DC!

Great ambience! Amazing staff very cute and friendly :) their 2−4−1 special is fantastic! It also has great music and you can definitely have a great conversation with whoever you are with

Went here one time to have a drink during NFL season. Bartender not interested in serving me as I waited at the bar. I then asked if he could change the channel to the game and he wouldn’t. The place was pretty dead but he’d rather have CNN on. Just some rude a-​hole bartenders working there. Won’t go back.

I really like getting a drink here. With the upstairs area, the bar is large enough to hold a good number of people. I have always had good drinks here as well and it’s just a fun place to people watch.

I stumbled across this place on my stroll back from government affairs. It was exciting and intense and lovely. I sipped down the «Fruity Fisher» drink it’s a great medley of vodka and an assortment of different fruits topped from the Local DC area. I had several and I don’t think I can enjoy another DC night with out it. If ever in town and need a great night cap check out Number Nine and The Fruity Fisher, next week I’ll come back and try the Timmy Tornado.

Normally I really like visiting this bar when visiting from Denver. Stood at the order station for awhile waiting to be served. The bartender was talking to others and this went on for ten minutes. Ok, I got a little upset, but wrote it off. Went to cash out after our 2^nd drink of the whole evening and received the same treatment. Bartender talking to the same guys! People can be so cute but if they only knew how ugly attitude makes them… will go back but I will order from another bartender if possible.

This bar was a nice find while I was staying in DC for a couple days. It’s a beautiful, trendy lounge with delicious cocktails and a diverse crowd of old/​young, different ethnicities, etc. The music is not too loud so you can easily carry on a conversation with the good-​looking, diverse clientele at this bar. I would definitely go back next time I’m in DC.

With a few friends in tow we stumbled on this place after happy hour around the corner. Didn’t realize it was a gay bar until every single guy in the place was drop dead gorgeous. Anyway we scored a booth with a front row view of the presidential debate on TV (not your usual happy hour but hey it was fun). Drink specials were buy one get one free. Unisex bathroom was spotless (but they still leave the seat up).
To recap — great area, beautiful crowd, drinks, clean bathrooms = 5 stars
Gay or not this place should be on your happy hour hangout list. We will go back!

Some of the bartenders here are the worst. I tried to close my tab when I had opened it with another bartender at the same bar. He insisted I needed to close it with the other bartender — so I went to the area of the bar between the two. The SAME bartender comes and closes my tab for me. I asked him why he couldn’t have just done that for me before and he literally threw my receipt at me and said «you’re welcome!» What a jerk. I really like this bar aside from several jerk bartender…

Treats lesbians like we are worthless! Asked for a double talk, was told ny a customer «you can’t order doubles here». Treated poorly because we are female. Screw this bullshit!

So the ambience is great. I just think the bartenders are rude. Just because you’re cute does not mean people should tip you exceedingly or treat you oh so special. Honestly, if I was white, I would be treated a different way. Sad.

While the 5 – 9 happy hour with 2−4−1 everything is appreciated, the underpouring of liquor, alas, is not. My partner ordered a rocks, no mixer, and seemed to actually get the correct pour. IMHO that is the way to go. Cute crowd though, especially after league games.

Incredible lounge, I was very impressed with the décor and staff. They really have a way of making it almost impossible to not interact with the rest of the clientele, to me that is key in any successful business. I expect to see them become a staple in the gay community of D.C.

A nice venue. I’d do it again.

I have been wanting to check this place out since the end of summer when I would see people enjoying their cocktails on the sidewalk furniture. We finally got around to coming in on a Friday night to get the 2 for 1 drink deal. The place was packed, which was to be expected. I was a little disappointed with the vibe for the mood we were in; it wasn’t the party atmosphere we were looking for, but that’s okay, now we know what to expect. Also, they used a lot of crushed ice in our cocktails, so not sure how much ‘drink’ we actually got, but hey you get 2 for the price of 1, so I can forgive. Before we left, someone mentioned to us that there was also an upstairs to this place, but we didn’t end up seeing it while we were there. Will check it out again and try the upstairs.

Number Nine has a classy vibe but everyone knows how to get down and have a good time.
It’s so rare to find great drink specials at bars on the weekends. On the particular Saturday night that I went, Number Nine was offering 2 for 1 drinks from 5PM to 9PM. The bartender brings out your first drink and prints out a small slip for you to redeem your free second drink. I expected it to be packed (with a special like that and the freak occurrence of nice weather) but it wasn’t too crowded and the patrons and bartenders alike were cool. There’s plenty of seating inside and even a couple of tables out on the patio. Though you won’t want to be sitting, this is the place to mingle! They play great music but no it isn’t a dance club… but I’d say it is the perfect place to start off your night out in DC.
