Nimbus is the best kept secret in DC. I have had the pleasure of having Yusef as my stylist for 9 years. I know great stylists when I see them. Believe me when I say that I have gone to stylists who have done hair for the likes of Kerry Washington and Michelle Obama. Yusef is hands down the best of the best. He is a charming fellow who is a rare genius in his field. I now fly in to DC from Chicago to have him do my hair … He’s that good. He is totally worth it. Beyond being a skilled and talented guy, he can work with anyone who has any type of hair. If you are in town please do look him up. You won’t be sorry.

DONOTGOHERE. I have been a loyal client for over 2 years. About a year ago, Yusuf ran my credit card, and I later noticed it was $ 300, i.e., $ 75 more than I usually paid for a trim and highlights. When I called to ask him about it, Yusuf casually informed me that he had raised his prices. No apology for not telling me beforehand. I was annoyed, but I let it go. Nine months later, I was in for my usual, and as I handed him my credit card, Yusuf said he wanted to raise his prices again. This time he wanted to charge me $ 650. I thought he was joking. He wasn’t. When I asked him why he needed to charge over twice the«normal» amount, he had no explanation. He does good work, but not that good. Save your money and go elsewhere.

The owner/stylist’s behavior is SO bizarre that I gave up. The awkward and uncomfortable feeling I had there far outweighed any positive things I might have said about the cut. Stay away. There is simply no explanation for him.

Great haircut and style. The best my hair has ever looked, in fact. Very quick cut and style(20 minutes) which was great for me because I was in a hurry. Unfortunately, I called ahead of time and asked for the price range($ 75 – 100). Arrived and informed the owner/hair stylist that I did not want hair styling. The hairstylist refused and said it came in a package and had to do it anyway. Was charged $ 100. So, I’m guessing the price range would not have started at $ 75, but $ 100. Also, if you’re short(I’m 5’4″) the hair washing part was uncomfortable for my neck. Otherwise, enjoyed the atmosphere and technique.

I had a similar experience to Megan R. Without getting too specific, it was an awkward experience and I was truly upset with my hair cut. It took about 6 months to grow into something that another stylist could do anything with. Yusif is very nice but I have to say — if you are a female with short hair, this may not be the place for you.

The owner/stylist here gave me 3 ponytails going vertically when I asked for a simple chignon. When I asked to change how I originally requested, he told me to leave. The other 3 appointments previous to this, I have always felt the result was half done(even just for a trim), feeling not sure what to do with my half wet hair. Worst hair salon experience. I have not been back or ever planning to be back.
