Established in 1999.
The Neighborhood Development company has completed the development of over 575,000 square feet of real estate and has projects currently under development that represent over 400,000 square feet and $ 100 million of investment. In addition, NDC is a joint-venture participant in several public-private partnerships in the area, including the now completed City Vista project, the State Center Project in Baltimore, and City Center, which is now under construction. Collectively, these projects represent over 3.7 million square feet of mixed-use space. The Neighborhood Development Company has led the revitalization of the DC’s vital Georgia Avenue corridor, with over 400 housing units constructed or under development in this area, the introduction of entrepreneurial, neighborhood-serving retailers, and the development of facilities for non-profit institutions and schools.

Business Owner
Mr. Washington has over 20 years of experience in real estate development, acquisition and management. Prior to founding NDC in 1999 he served as Vice President, Acquisitions, for NHP Inc., at the time the nation’s largest owner of multifamily properties. From 2005 through 2007 Mr. Washington took a leave of absence from NDC to serve as the CEO of the Anacostia Waterfront Corporation (AWC), the entity charged with leading a $ 10 billion, 20 year initiative to revitalize Washington, DC’s Anacostia Waterfront and surrounding communities. Mr. Washington grew up in the city’s Anacostia neighborhood and is a lifelong resident of DC. Mr. Washington holds a BA from Stanford University and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
