If I cold give them a zero star I would. My son got a car loan with NFCU. He was then deployed but set up auto pay before leaving to Iraq. He’s now returned home just to find out that NFCU was claiming they never received his car title and converted his collateral loan to a signature loan with a much higher interest rate. Needless to say his auto payments did not reflect this increase and he now is being told that he owes an additional $ 900 in late fees. I tried calling and have someone explain to me how we can verify WHEN they received the title because it miraculously appeared 2 years later. I really am beginning to think this is a complete SCAM on our military personnel. Claim to lose the title, jack up the interest rate, and then take the unsuspecting person to the cleaners. Total and complete BS.

Best bank ever. There are no monthly maintenance fees like other banks. You can make up to 6 transactions from your savings to your checking per month. They have great rates, and you can use your debit card at any ATM, you do get charged however that can be reimbursed to you depending on the type of debit card you have. Navy Federal as a whole is difficult. They promise money to sign up and transfer our car loan and never delivered. They lost my car title and then threatened to raise the interest rate.

I worked at the Navy Yard for a long time before retiring. So NFCU was my bank of preference. Now that I’m retired, this place is too far, and frankly the parking is impossible. My rating doesn’t reflect that, but if you are thinking about coming here, you may want to chose other alternatives. This branch is small and busy due to all the Navy employees going here during a regular work week. They are friendly and nice.

This place is super inconvenient. I went to take my friend to get some emergency cash and felt like I went to a concentration camp. The guards were like modern day nazis.
As soon as you drive in you have to show ID which is to be expected. Once on the base you have to go to a separate facility to check in and register your vehicle. You need your license and registration in order to go any further or you can’t park your car.
The guards here really need a session on customer service. Everyone that isn’t white is not a terrorist. What a horrible use of tax payers dollars.
I am not a fan of this place and will continue to keep my coins at Wells Fargo.
The only reason I didn’t give this place one star was because the person at check point #2 offered to me and my friend candy.

This branch is quite a bit of a walk from the Navy Yard Metro. If you do take the metro make sure you exit at M St. and New Jersey Avenue (the Department of Transportation exit).
Although the address is listed as 9^th and M Street, the bank is actually located inside of the Navy Yard on about 9^th and O Street (right next to the parking garage). If you do not have a military ID they won’t let you enter at 9^th and M Street. You have to walk around the corner to 11^th and O street, go to the visitor’s center, show your ID to get a day pass and then they’ll let you into the Navy Yard. It’s kind of a hassle which is why I gave it 3 stars.

Although it’s inconvenient to get to if you aren’t actually on the Navy Yard, it is a really good location. Your nearest other options are to go to Crystal City (which is a parking nightmare)
