Three stars (update: down graded to one star because of post exam experience) because the in-​person service was good (though it was busy and the wait time was long, even with an appointment). I spent a total of 2 hours waiting, being examined and picking out frames. All the staff were very helpful and I had a good experience. What’s frustrating is the follow up. Almost a month and no one has called to update me on when I can pick up my glasses. They originally told me I could pick them up in two weeks. I called them and three times, staff told me they would call me back with the status of my glasses but never did. I called a fourth time and was told they would arrive in a week (a full month after I went in). I called the day they were supposed to arrive and was told they wouldn’t be there until the following day. Still waiting… but will be calling again soon. Will definitely not use them again.
Update: a full week later and still waiting (1 month and 2 weeks total). In fact, called a few days after they said it would be ready (second date they gave me) only to find out it won’t be ready for another week. I’m tired of the run around, and had I not spent so much money on these glasses already, I would just count this as a loss and not even bother. Still waiting…

I needed to get my eyes checked since it had been a couple years, but I have awful insurance (not sure if there is good insurance out there). I made an appointment with this location and was so happy I did. With the Living Social deal I paid $ 103 (including the $ 49 for the LS deal) to get a full eye exam, the retina photos (which I highly recommend, a cost of $ 26 or $ 27) and a full pair of glasses (basic lenses – not bifocals, etc).
I wasn’t going to get the glasses and was just going to check out with an eye exam and retinal photos, which ran something like $ 60 (since again, my insurance covered the equivalent of nothing). They were not pushy at all, but did mention the LS deal. They had a lot of cute glasses available in the price range I was going for (as close to $ 0 as possible). While not free, I am glad I received a quality eye exam from really nice people and some great glasses. I worked with Melissa (? she had partially purple hair when I visited) who was absolutely wonderful. She has a great eye for what looks good on you, completely relates to anyone on a budget, and will kindly lead you to what looks good and gently nudge you away from less flattering frames. I’d highly recommend asking to work with her after you finish your eye exam. Be upfront about your budget and what you can do – she puts you right at ease and helped me find cute frames within 30 seconds.
I would recommend making an appointment in advance since they seemed really busy. I made one and was seen right at my time. I personally like the busy environment since you have less pressure to make a purchase and you can browse frames if you’d like while you wait.

Dr. Miller is the go to guy for eye exams. He really understands complicated situations and is super patient. Great eyewear selection and helpful people run the store.

I’ve been going to this MyEyeDr. location since 2013. Here are all the reasons why:
1) Their staff is usually very professional and friendly. They go out of their way to help me find the best frames, get the most out of my insurance, and make sure the products fit my needs and budget.
2) I love their online appointment scheduler.
3) I receive text alerts when my frames or lenses are ready for pickup.
4) The doctors are very kind and patient.
5) They match online prices.
The only negative experience I had was on my last appointment. The person who led me through the eye exam machines was a little rude. She didn’t speak clearly and she gave me an attitude when I asked her to clarify (e.g. left vs. right). Otherwise, I have no complaints about this location.

The staff there is pretty helpful and acknowledges you as soon as you walk in the door, even if it’s busy. I overheard them talking about trying to get a customer in for a last-​minute appointment who was waiting on the phone, and they did everything they could to make sure the customer was happy. Every time I’ve been there, they seem to be training a new staff member and they take care to teach their staff how to handle customers’ concerns properly. This time, they couldn’t completely help me with my glasses issue, but they did refer me to a repair establishment which might help. Their online booking/​appointments service is also pretty efficient, and their forms are all online so that makes signing in on your first appointment easy,

This is a good example of how the staff and not just the doctor (or this case, optometrist) can ruin customer experience.
I’ve been a patient of Dr. Miller for nearly 10 years. Was very happy with the service and even recommended him to friends. The staff until last year or early this year was really good. I remember Tiffany, who was super nice and accommodating, along with the other staff members. When I came to my appointment middle of this year to get new eyeglasses, the entire staff had changed. I spoke to a long-​haired woman with glasses who explained to me that I wasn’t eligible yet to have new eyeglasses covered by my insurance; that my last check-​up only covered contacts. That wasn’t clearly explained to me back then. I told about how Dr. Miller had told me months before that if I needed those eyeglasses, they could provide some concessions or discounts. Okay, so the woman may have been correct, I wasn’t eligible yet, but the way she told me was pretty condescending, even going as far as explaining what the law was in all the states and in DC. She was more concerned with being right, than with listening to the customer and explaining nicely that they couldn’t do it, but that possibly having an alternative in the meantime. She could’ve even offered more affordable eyeglasses or maybe a promo. When Dr. Miller came over and looked at my records, he was dismissive and just bluntly said, «Well, I can’t do anything.» like that woman was the boss. Surely he knew I was a longtime patient, just by looking at my records.
If they have no hesitations about treating longtime customers nicely, then I have no hesitations in finding another optometrist. I’ve since then switched to an optometrist in Arlington, and have been very happy with my decision! Buh-​bye.

Shenae and Reba helped me get a great pair of prescription sunglasses. They went out of their way to help me and see that my specific requests were met. MyEyeDr has a good team. Thanks for your help Shenae and Reba!

My complaint isn’t with the Dr. who was honestly very good. Much bigger issue is with the staff who are really awful. When I came in and asked if they did walk-​ins, the first person I spoke to said yes. She handed me off to some lost looking young man (back to him later) who had no idea where the paperwork was and handed me off to another woman. I clarified with her that yes, they accepted walk-​ins and my insurance for contact lens fittings. As I’m filling out the paperwork, another woman walks up and asks what time my appointment is. When I explain for the fourth time I don’t have an appointment, she tells me it’ll be a long wait and that I should just make an appointment and come back later. A bit exasperated, I agree but just as I’m going through my schedule, the 3^rd woman comes back and says no, they can see me now.
Wellness exam with this woman is great. Dr. Patel does the exam, and she’s great. They hand me a pair of contacts to put in and hand me off to the lost looking young man. I’m feeling good about my choice and sit down to go over paperwork for contacts. I proceed to sit in silence, complete and utter silence, for 20 minutes or so while he stares and types at a computer. I ask 3 – 4 times if there’s any information he needs and whether my insurance is ok. He mumbles here and there and tells me I’m fine. Finally, he tells me it’ll be $ 70 a box of contacts. Considering my contacts are normally $ 28 a box, I tell him that can’t be right. He continues to just keep repeating this information as if something will change. I finally tell him I don’t want to buy them there and just want my prescription. A nearby employee tells me they’ll price match but at this point I just want to leave so I’m looking to wrap up any last paperwork.
Then he tells me it’ll be a $ 60 dollar copay for my lens fitting. Now, in fairness, it appears my insurance has changed within the last month (having just called) and the amount available to use for fittings has changed. This was my confusion, and I own it. But when I asked how that was possible he just stared at me blankly again and repeated the information. Another employee nearby walks up to him, ignoring me, and tells him to print out my information to show me what my insurance covers. She ends up showing this to me and circling the information. We go back and forth a bit over it, and she tells me to call my insurance provider to verify. I begin to take the paperwork she has just handed me and she literally snatches it out of my hands, telling me I can’t have it for some reason that is still unclear to me as she changed her mind 5 minutes later and gave it back. I ask again for my prescription and am handed a prescription with no signature and told the Dr. is with a patient and it will be 15 – 20 minutes before she can sign it. They tell me I can take the unsigned prescription… but it’ll be useless anywhere I try to use it. Magically, the Dr. signed it 3 minutes later.
If it wasn’t for the staff, I’d completely come back and order my contacts here. I also understand it’s on the patient to verify their coverage (and, again, I own my mistake here), but it would have been nice for them to provide the price of their services before I went in, considering many folks have very limited vision insurance or none. I would have gone to another provider around the corner had I known this was how much they charged. Either way, I’m going to go to another location in the future and hope for a bit better customer service.

I first decided to go after reading some great Unilocal reviews. Went and loved the doctor and the staff in office. I later came back after getting a Living Social deal and deciding to invest in prescription sunglasses. Andrew was a huge help in picking out some great frames for me. He was honest about what looked good on me and what didn’t look so awesome which I appreciated. If I’m going to be buying expensive prescription sunglasses that will last me, they better look awesome, right? Highly recommend. Oh, and they also take walk-​ins, but I usually call before hand to see if they’re busy anyway.

I have been going to Dr. Miller for years and am always satisfied. Extremely friendly and customer oriented front desk staff. Dr. Miller is very thorough and efficient. He explains everything well and makes you feel great as a patient. Front desk staff takes time to shine glasses, give samples, and provided me with back up lenses while I went on vacation while I waited for mine to be delivered.
Would absolutely recommend to friends and family.

Last week, I dropped one of my last contacts into my cat’s litter box. (Weird situation, I know). I thought that I was screwed because I had just ordered new boxes but they wouldn’t arrive for a week or so. I went to my regular eye doctor (America’s Best) but they were super unhelpful on the phone and ultimately, didn’t have any of my prescription. I called My Eye Dr. and they were super nice on the phone and helped me as soon as I walked into the store. They GAVE me a new contact lens, even though I’ve never been in for an eye exam or anything. They eye doctor even gave me a handshake. Overall, great customer service. Hopefully, my insurance will allow me to go here in the future. These people are great!

Dr. Miller is awesome and the staff is great. When I stopped to pick up my glasses I had to park illegally infront of the store. I ran in and the lady saw me park, rushed to get my glasses, than went outside to watch for the meter maid while I was getting the glasses adjusted. That was so Above & Beyond. All the staff have always been great. I’ve gone there 4 times over theh past 6 years and every time it’s been an excellent experience.

They staff made me feel very welcome. I had not been to the eye doctor in a while in fact the only reason I went was because dmv would not let me drive without getting my eyes checked. The staff there helped me to get an exam the same day and glasses within an hour (my friend and I went shopping at the h and m less then a block away while we waited) .they provided such great customer service my friend with me decide to get her eyes checked to. We both left with stylish designer glasses at a great price!

Because the I St. store had failed me so badly, I decided to stop into this L st. store for help, hoping they’d be able to set things right because it was the same franchise. They were fantastic. Professional, courteous, and eager to solve my problems. They found me a pair of sunglass frames that I liked and fixed the prescription situation for both the sunglasses and the regular glasses. They solved all my problems and made sure that I wasn’t double billed, communicating with the I st. store and giving me a discount for my troubles.
Faith restored. They saved a customer.

The woman who helped me to pick out my glasses was experienced, smart and quick. She knew how to tell the truth in a helpful and diplomatic way. She didn’t talk too much but wasn’t unfriendly either.
When I didn’t receive a call to announce that my glasses were ready, though, I called and learned that they’d already been done for a day. The salesperson who tried to adjust the frames for me used his fingers (no, not pliers) to move the nose pad arms. There’s more. The young man had long nails, so by the time his third adjustment didn’t work, I was so fearful that he would break the arms, I just quickly said, «Great, thanks. Bye!»

I have been going to MyEyeDr for years, previously in Vienna, VA. This company continues to offer promotions, whether it is discounts on contacts or the annual eye exam plus frames & lenses, you typically spend $ 200-​$ 250 all in (frames alone cost $ 300-​$ 600 depending on the brand).
When I recently visited this location last month I was having a hard time making a decision — the Tom Ford frames I really wanted were too small for my face and every frames I tried on did not seem to work. A young lady came up and helped me, gave me some real talk (I tried on 6 – 7 pairs and she would flat out say yes or no). We ended up finding a pair of Prada frames but the frame color in the store was black which was ok but I wanted something more cute and funky. She proceeded to look online and find the same frames in different colors and ended up finding a purple/​red/​blue speckled design which was amazing! The frames had to be specially ordered but arrived on Black Friday (my exam was the previous Wednesday).
In all, this place is affordable (if you are a deal stalker like myself), convenient (one block from Farragut North metro) and exams are fast (~30 min). Thank you!

I chose MyEye Doctor because of the convenient location, and the fact that they took my insurance, or so they said! I went in for an eye exam and the next thing I know, I’ve spent over $ 150 for lenses, which I never intended to spend on that first appointment. I felt like I was strong-​armed into getting overpriced lenses, that just so conveniently would be ready that same day. I felt like I had no choice! Not only could I not afford to pay for the lenses that day, they offered no other solutions. They wait until you have your eye exam, and get everything checked before they kindly tell you the extreme amount of money you will have to pay out of pocket!
Outside of that, the staff was friendly but I am not sure I will be returning there.

I waited for about 20 minutes before Dr. Miller was able to see me. The exam was quick and efficient, and the Dr. even showed me a photograph of my eyes’ physiology and all its funny quirks. I just didn’t know it would cost me extra to get that done (and not an insignificant fee at that). Had I known, I would’ve politely refused. I KNOW I have bad eyesight, just let me get my prescription for glasses and be done with it.
The customer service team was a tad too attentive and hovered over my every move. Can’t blame them – they said if I wrote a nice Unilocal review, I could get «free» sunglasses, so they’re probably on the hunt for more business. Overall, a less than satisfactory experience. I would not visit again.

I am truly disappointed by this shop. Not only met some really rude sales people here, but also felt robbed after purchasing.
The PRO of this shop obvious, convenient location and accept my insurance. But it does mean they can charge the same frame for 50 dollar more than a high-​end boutique shop at Soho NYC. And the 175 usd prescription is unprecedented. Oh, and they do not give u a paper copy.
Even though you pay for extra, they do not guaranty a fast deliverable. It took me almost a month to wait for the order of my frame.
Now here is the best part. After trying for the new glasses for the first time, I can tell clearly that the glasses gave me a huge distortion. There must be something wrong. But the sales lady made a face at me as if this was my first time wearing a glass, and encouraged me to give it a try for another day or two. I left the shop unconvinced. But before I got to the next block, I was 100% sure the glass was not right. So I returned to the shop. This time, they sent someone to check my frame instead truly check their own work. Adjusting the fame helped a bit. The sales man explained how there could be a distortion.
After this I have been struggling with the huge distortion and the headache it gave me for a whole day. When I got home after work, I dug my old prescription. Aha, they got my left and right eye prescription reversed!!! Good job! And when I tried to wear my glasses upside down, it fixed all the distortion.
This is a super slow shop, found by people who are rude, refusing to double check their own work and indifferent to their customer.
