Mazza Gallerie Mall

I have never paid to park at a mall, the concept of doing so seems rediculous to me.
$ 16 for 4 hours, to afford spending more money on goods and services? Hard pass.

Footlocker in this mall was a joke. They didn’t have any of the 5 or 6 sneakers that my friend picked out in the right size. We had some better luck at TJ Maxx and she picked up a few things for her apartment. We didn’t go through the entire mall and would probably do a little more research about what stores they actually have before going back again. Whether or not they have stock in what you want seems to be hit or miss though. The mall is right off the metro which was nice.

Veddy veddy upscale stores, except on the lowest level where there are TJ Maxx, Subway, and McDonalds. Very expensive parking, even with validation. I’ll leave this one to people with more money than they know what to do with, only went for the free movie preview.

Malls are increasingly becoming an artifact of the past in the Amazon age. This one seems to have survived by going high brow. It’s a nice looking place and right next to the Metro, but everything shopping-​wise is high end stuff that you could get for a fraction of the price online. Precisely zero of the District’s many fine and innovative restaurants are inside here. Go for the movie theater only.

It’s not even a mall to be honest. There’s no stores that most normal people can afford to shop at unless you want to spend hundreds of dollars on basic items please don’t come here. HOWEVER there are great restaurants near by and some more affordable stores such as Lohmens and Nordstrom Rack and possibly DSW if those stores are in your price range then you should be fine those are stores average folk can shop at but Bloomingdales and all those stores. .. not for your average person. I just come here to eat.

This shopping mall doesn’t get very good reviews. I remember visiting this shopping mall at times. I thought it was in a nice area at the border of Washington, DC and Maryland. Used to go to shopping malls in suburban Maryland and Tyson’s a lot and this was also nice to visit, but it didn’t seem to offer as much as other malls.

Neiman Marcus is my favorite store – I love it and buy clothes, lingerie, and purses there relatively often… BUT not usually at the Friendship Heights store. Most of the salespeople are not as friendly as in the Tysons Corner store (which has more merchandise) and can get absorbed in their personal conversations. However, at this Chevy Chase store, I have found one associate in the St. John department, one at the department that sells Etro, and two in lingerie to be very helpful and friendly. One of the best kept secrets is that, when Neiman Marcus has «Last Call» sales at its store and particularly online, the prices are much lower than Bloomingdales or Nordstrom and the selection is better. For those who complain about the $ 3,000 handbags – there are many beautiful, well-​made, fashionable leather handbags for under $ 200 at

Not much to do in the actual Mall itself, but thankfully theres alot of shopping around the mall within walking distance. I feel like this place was dropped in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Its weird because its kind of hidden and then all of a sudden theres a whole strip of stores. Best part about Mazza Gallerie Mall is the parking underneath it so you can check out the surrounding scenery. Dont waste your time inside the mall.

The great thing about this mall is that it is directly off of the red line Metro. I’m surprised that certain stores are here as the mall doesn’t seem to be that high end. Overall, nice small indoor mall right off the metro.

This mall is crap. There is nothing to do here. Many of the stores here go out of business and never come back. Lastly there not many places to eat here. The only fun thing to do here is watch a movie at the AMC theater.

Old, pretentious, and parking is a crap shoot.
If you’re looking for youthful, trendy, and/​or higher end fashion, stick with Pentagon City after 5pm on weekdays or trek out to Tyson’s Corner (both located in VA and the first is metro accessible). I can’t think of one good reason I’d willingly go up to Mazza ever again, other than the advanced movie screenings that my friend regularly invites me to at the AMC upstairs. But even then, I will only accept those sparingly.
Pass «Go,» collect your $ 200, and then spend it somewhere else. You’ll thank me in the long-​run.

Main reason for my even coming would be AMC Theatre… maybe Saks Fifth for men but Neiman sucks as they’ve scaled down alot of the men’s dept. Kron’s Chocolatier less u are craving it right then and there. C’mon

What sort of poorly run mall charges $ 3 for parking for less than 5 minutes — when THEY are the ones with NO signage at the parking entrance saying they don’t open until noon on Sunday (noon? really???). Any other place would let you out for free, but the often rude or unhelpful parking staff hit a new low. I’m not shopping here again — I used to come by every week or two because it’s close and has one great store (Corby Collection — hidden away and it would be much better anywhere but Mazza).

The only redeeming part is a sparse and bizarrely stocked Neiman Marcus, which sports both Chanel and Hermes in-​store boutiques, yet has the most anemic, unattractive, «old lady» shoe selection.
Parking abounds in the area and Mazza Gallerie’s lot is one of the worst. Even with validation, it’s more money than I’d expect to pay at such a craphole of a mall. You can try searching for neighborhood parking, but my best suggestion is parking in Bloomingdales’ lot. You get 2 hours free with validation.

Mazza Gallerie is my least favorite mall in the area. The only ‘great’ thing here is Neiman Marcus, which is prohibitively expensive for most people.
There are very few places to eat here… I think it’s a McDonalds, a Subway and a Rock Creek. The Filenes is disorganized as hell, FYE marks up everything, Foot Locker is decent.
The only reasons to come here are for the movie theater which is decent, and for upscale shopping. Other than that, look elsewhere for your shopping needs.

There is nothing useful in this place, nor is there any intention of usefulness. Perhaps there may be a place where one might find something utilitarian, as say a shoe to cover one’s foot, but that would happen by matter of coincidence, and certainly not by design.
They keep their hand-​me-​downs tucked in the corner of the basement. A person named Filene is in charge of the left-​overs of excess. The entrance is in the back.
The upstairs of this place is disparate to its’ conjoined downstairs, and makes no attempt to acknowledge its’ presence. It glares a marble sunlight sheen and hardly a person perambulates about the mall, and the mall is most content with it being that way. They don’t want your business. They only want their business. If you feel uncomfortable or conspicuous — good. The conspicuous consumption was not designed for you. You were only designed to supply the means.
The jewelry sparkles on display in many windows. The needless mark-​up is added for vanity. Therein lies the purpose. One may squint their eyes while looking at the price tag. That is the moment of elucidation, as to why none of the store clerks have looked nowhere, but the display cases or registers.
If one is to look for products of a useful nature — one should go to a hardware store and not to Mazza Gallerie.

There is actually a really funny story that illustrates why my husband and I hate this «mall».
Three years ago, my mom dragged me engagement-​ring shopping. For 5 hours. Without food, water or bathroom breaks. I wasn’t allowed to leave until I picked out «the ring». At first I resisted (I am devoutely anti-​marriage) but my mom is a master at emotional dominance. She’s brutal and remorseless. Finally, exhausted, beaten, and with a broken spirit, I weakly point to a ring at Neiman Marcus that was as far from being a traditional engagement ring I could get away with, so it wouldn’t make me want to commit seppekku if it should be bought for me for the purposes of marriage.
This was immediately communicated to my husband through my mom’s insane and terrifying powers of ESP.
Time goes by, and last year my husband decided to take his chances and would propose to me on Valentine’s Day (even while realizing that I view marriage the same way most people view animal-​testing), he got up early on a Sunday (while I was busy with my dad) to buy the ring at the Neiman Marcus at the Mazza Gallerie.
So the following confluence of crazy happens:
1) Neiman Marcus at Mazza Gallerie doesn’t open until 1pm on Sundays. Evidently, this store is only for rich old ladies that won’t be awake prior to that.
2) The rest of the mall doesn’t open until NOON. So my husband sat there — without food or drink — for 2 hours until the mall started to awaken.
3) THEY DON’T TAKE CREDIT CARDS. No, really. You read that right. The only card they would accept was the Neiman Marcus card — which my husband had to then apply for, to buy the stupid ring.
4) After spending 4+ hours on this excursion… he gets his parking ticket validated… for 1 hour. Yes, my husband then had to pay an additional $ 20 to get out of the parking lot.
WHAT!!!
So needless to say, after this whole drama… could I possibly say «no»? He braved the crazy that is Mazza Gallerie and Neiman’s for me… the least I could do is say «yes».
Seriously, this is the most insane mall ever. The hours are screwy — they close at *6*! They charge an arm and a leg for parking — even with validation! The stores aren’t even that great… and sure, I am lured here by the promise of a movie theater that serves alcohol, however, after paying the usual arm and leg for the movie, you will still have to pay another $ 10 — $ 15 to get your car out of the parking lot! PLUS, if you are catching the movie at night and get there a little early… you will have *NOTHING* to do. All the shops are closed! I know… insane, isn’t it???
So BOO on this mall. BOO I say!
P. S. I am still anti-​marriage, but I will admit that as with everything in life, there are exceptions to the rule, and my husband is one of them. I heart him so! :)

They’ve got a movie theater which is nice, and the department stores which are hard to find in this city. But otherwise, Chevy Chase Pavillion across the street is where it’s at.
The nice thing about the area is that it is accessible by metro and metrobus. And they have a Chadwick’s and a Booey’s and a Maggiano’s and a Cheescake nearby…

I also agree with Alexis — because this mall caters towards the older crowd, the atmosphere here can be on the stuffy side. Ann Taylor is a reliable and reasonably-​priced mainstay, yet the rest of the stores are on the pricey side and there’s more interesting shops and restaurants outside on the streets.
if you’re into hoity-​toity shopping like the mall at Georgetown, you should check this place out. If you drive here definitely try looking for street parking. It’s free and for the most part it’s available.

Mazza Gallerie is very elegant, yes, but I think it caters more toward an older crowd. I’ve bought a pair of sunglasses at Neiman Marcus, but that’s about it. Williams-​Sonoma has many beautiful things, but I’m not quite «there» yet (same goes for Mimi Maternity!)
Mazza has a movie theater (see my review on this), Ann Taylor and Filene’s Basement. I think those are the stores I frequent the most often (or ever) here. They do have plenty of underground parking, but you can usually find a spot in the surrounding neighborhood if the weather is OK. There’s also a J Crew across the street, and it’s a large one with two floors. Other than that, I’m not sure why someone would come here unless you are loaded, live in the neighborhood, or are just passing by. Friendship Heights is very cute though… I wouldn’t mind living there.
