CHEAP materials and UNHELPFUL salespersons.
Was a fan, but not after their unreasonable return policy and unhelpful salespersons. They have a 30 day return policy (which only gets you store credit — no cash back) and I was due to go on vacation 3 days before the 30-​day window expired. As any day before a vacation (or week before, for that matter), I was scrambling to get all my tasks finished and I ran out of time to go to the store and return two items I had purchased (one bracelet and one ring) before my flight. I called the store in transit and explained my situation, asking if it was possible to get some kind of extension on the policy since I would be out of the country. I offered to take a picture of the receipt, with the items, and email it to them as proof of intent to return and the day’s date, but they would not budge. They just said «there was nothing they could do,» yet I think that a company with good customer service could have looked at the situation and offered some kind of compromise. They have definitely lost me as a customer.
ALSO — DO NOT BUY metal rings or bracelets here. They are cheap material and will tarnish/​turn your finger green within a week. For the price, you’d be MUCH better off going somewhere else and paying 5 bucks more for higher quality metals that will last. I wish that’s what I had done.

This is a super charming little boutique that has affordable trendy pieces. If people go in here looking for high quality metals and precious stones, and are then surprised if their pieces don’t hold up the way gold and diamonds would, then they’re just rather foolish. There is a huge selection of jewelry and accessories, and the ladies working in the shop were incredibly kind, helpful, and chatty! I appreciate that the store is organized by color — it makes for a more efficient shopping experience! I bought three bangles yesterday that look like David Yurman. They are heavy and solid and I’m beyond thrilled with this purchase!

LOVE the jewlery, DISLIKE the pricetag.
Lou lou is a tiny accessory store which primarily carries jewlery. The jewelery is always trendy, pretty and the variety you see can make your head spin for a second because its so hard to pick just one item. Still, I wish they were a bit more affordable. The good thing is they offer a reward card which sends you special promotions and sale alerts via emails but if you are like me, those emails get opened when the promotion has long expired.

This place is like Charming Charlie only smaller (and therefore less overwhelming, which I appreciated). I had so much trouble deciding between all their beautiful scarves and earrings I didn’t end up buying anything. All the staff my friend and I interacted with were pleasant and helpful.

One of my NY Resolutions this year was to be a little bit more stylish. I’m a yoga teacher/​lobbyist and find myself squarely in the practicality department when it comes to fashion. I have my tried & true set of blazers/​slacks/​dresses and a couple of yoga outfits. Nothing too fancy. But it seems like I rotate the same accessories fairly often. My last trip to DC I popped into Lou Lou and decided to treat myself!
Lou Lou is very well organized, accessories and gifts are displayed artfully and the prices are right. Bought a statement necklace and earrings for less than $ 50! A really good deal IMO. Seems like statement necklaces these days will set you back a pretty penny.
Got lots of compliments from the co-​workers and my husband Chun P. even noticed! Which is quite a rarity. Sometimes I feel like I could dress up as Big Bird and he wouldn’t even notice! So Lou Lou’s definitely works! Looking forward to dropping by on my next trip.

Overwhelming selection for those seeking accessories and I can only imagine how difficult this is for ANY female going in here to not buy something. You can literally walk in looking like something and out looking a completely different way. This is a great holiday stocking stuffer shop as that’s what drew me in.

The clothing. … Don’t send your clothes for dry cleaning, it will fall apart.

When they first opened I was a loyal and faithful shopper, now after being chastised trying to return a 39.99 beach bag I realize that this is NOT my store.

I think everyone I’ve ever heard talk about this place has complained about something they bought and how it didn’t last long before breaking.
They have a huge selection of things, so if you’re looking for visual stimuli, this is a colorfully exciting store to check out. From scarves and bags to cards and jewelry, this is a good place to find any and every kind of gift, just keep in mind the quality or lack thereof.

I’ve moved to San Francisco but used to live in DC and shop here tons. I’m in town tonight and lost an earring back. Went in to buy some and she have me two for free. Thank you for being great and saving me tonight. I will pay it forward!

I stop into the Dupont Lou Lou frequently, as I work close by and often want to change or spruce up an outfit by swapping earrings or adding a necklace. The store is always full of variety and organized in a way that makes it possible to find things quickly and easily. However, sometimes I find that despite ALL the selection, there are still basics and/​or trendy pieces that are hard to find (i.e. there will be a million blue and gold options, but no blue and silver. Or all shiny, no matte. Or if you just want colored earrings (like black) without silver or gold metal, and there’s bling on everything). Despite that, there’s no harm in looking.. . or at least that’s what I thought.
Unfortunately, I do not agree with their gift card restrictions. I had a gift card for over a year (admittedly for longer than normal; we moved after I got it and it got packed away…) and when I went to use it, the balance was gone. Their cards deduct $ 2/​month after one year, so the $ 16 balance was gone in no time. Many/​most gift cards these days never expire or, if they do, it’s only after 5 years. I mean, this isn’t a daily deal; you already paid for the credit so it should be yours to use it whenever you want. Even though it was just the price of one pair of earrings, the experience really turned me off of visiting this store as a hobby.

A beautiful store stocked with jewelry, purses, and other odds and ends, easily accessible by bus or metro.
This is a great place to shop for a gift: you can find anything from sweet greeting cards to nice smelling hand lotions, from candles to earrings. Know that some items cost more than it may be worth spending, but if you take your time you can score some high quality stylish accessories for a good price.
It is always unbelievable to me how many items they can fit in this store while still keeping everything well-​organized and easily shoppable.

I actually stopped first at their extension store, five doors closer to Dupont Circle. There I found three gorgeous pairs of earrings, which set me back almost $ 70. They’re not marked as stainless steel, but my ears didn’t react when I tried them on, so they’re of good quality metals. (I promise to add photos soon!) This shop also had necklaces, bangles, scarves, leather-​lined patterned headbands, hats, handbags, hair clips, beaded belts (leather belts were at THIS address, so I had to visit and buy one to keep my jeans from falling off me– another $ 30 there. What’s nice about this belt is I can interchange the buckle, so now I’m going to have to shop for those in the future… oops!), and stocking-​stuffers, such as «woman’s emergency kit,» which contained a mini-​hairspray bottle and I don’t know what else, since I had more earrings to discover!
I signed up for Lou Lou’s free loyalty card, which garners me a $ 10 credit for every $ 250 I spend. I don’t know when I’ll ever get to accrue anything worthwhile, since Lou Lou locations are only to be found in DC, VA, MD, and MA, and the card cannot be used online at this time.
Returns can be made within 30 days of purchase.

Cute accessories, affordable prices. What’s not to like?

Lou Lou is a lovely boutique on Connecticut Avenue that adds to the neighborhood’s chic quotient. With another location on Georgetown’s Wisconsin Avenue, it offers fashion-​conscious shoppers a welcoming space for browsing various apparel, jewelry, accessories, even skincare products like body soaps and household items like candles, categorized by color. The store’s design seems to follow a chromatic pattern, ranging from warm colors to cooler ones as you walk around the interior.
Items are reasonably priced. I’ve gotten pairs of faux pearl earrings for about $ 10. They also have cute jewelries and interesting finds.
A nice stopover on your shopping trip in the Dupont area, especially since there aren’t that many similar outposts that sell the same stuff (of course there’s Secondi on the other side of the avenue, but Lou Lou isn’t a consignment store). Stop by here after you get your fabulous outfits at LOFT, newly coveted shoes from Comfort One, and shimmering makeup necessities from Bluemercury and you’re all set!

Stop here. Seriously. I find it hard to imagine that you couldn’t find SOMETHING to please ANY woman that you know. They have a huge collection of beautiful earrings, scarfs, sunglasses, barrettes, headbands, rings, necklaces, soaps and hats. They carry a number of brands including Big Buddha bags, Ray Ban sunglasses, Satya and Charles Albert jewelry, and purses from The Sak, among other brands. Everything is organized by color, making it particularly easy to find something to match a certain outfit. Prices are super reasonable, with many pieces in the $ 5-​$ 35 range.
I’ve had nothing but great, friendly service there. It’s a small store and I would recommend searching every nook and cranny to find some great pieces. Get your accessories fix here!

Great selection of jewelry, and a huge collection of various colored purses. If I was a purse girl I’d go here to get a matching purse for each of my jackets.

I strive to keep the Jew in jewelry, and Lou Lou makes that easy and affordable for me. Lou Lou is a super cute accessory shop with trendy, fun products that are reasonably priced. It is not a high-​end boutique, but great for those everyday pieces to enhance your style or if you need something fun, but inexpensive. It is often busy, but don’t let that deter you.
They carry a brand I love — Shiraleah, which is a line of vegan bags. They also carry other brands, plus their proprietary label. Lou Lou is small and lots of merchandise is crammed into this tiny store. I almost missed the product I was looking for, because my eye wandered everywhere. But still, for the prices and the styling, it is a great place. Let’s just say I am happy the Metro entrance is closer to work than this store is, because if I had to walk by every day, I would buy something every day.
