Hi there, and thanks for your interest!

My name is Chika Sugiyama. I was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, but moved to the U.S. about 15 years ago, and earned a Master’s Degree from the University of Maryland.

Prior to starting my own teaching business, I worked as an instructor in Japanese for the Japan-​America Society, and for the Washington Language Center. I now have more than 10 years of teaching experience including both classroom and private instruction for beginners, intermediate, and advanced students.

I am located in the Washington DC Metropolitan area. You can also catch me in Philadelphia on certain days. I am available for Skype lessons as well as private lessons for your convenience. We can have a free 10-​minute Skype lesson so that you can get a better idea.
