Kennedy Center Shuttle

Love this… used it this past Sunday on a *very* frigid afternoon. At 2 in the afternoon, a shuttle was waiting right as you come off the escalator at the Foggy Bottom Metro, and again, there was no wait when it was time for us to head back. Clean, new-​ish looking, and playing classical music. What’s not to like?

Free shuttle every 15 minutes to and from the Foggy Bottom Metro, you can’t miss the red sign outside the station. Perfect on a freezing day but if you just miss the shuttle from the station, it’s probably just as fast to walk.

2. It takes you from a metro stop (Foggy Bottom) to the isolated Kennedy Center. (You can’t miss the pickup location on 23^rd. Apparently, they changed the spot by about 50 feet because of construction and I got 5 emails about that, so you’ll find it).
3. They run fairly frequently. (They list every 15 minutes, but there were 2 waiting when we arrived. Nice that, even if they don’t leave right away, you don’t have to be out in the cold in the winter)

The shuttle is a great option to avoid traffic madness and parking ordeal. Runs every 15 minutes. Friendly staff and nice classical music in the background. The service is free. The shuttle to go back to the metro station is perfect too.

The walk from the metro on a nice day to the Kennedy center is not bad… but if you need to get there and its 90+outside, there is a shuttle! You can’t miss them. They are red and station them selves in front of the metro exit. Best of all, its free!

Great service for metro users going to the Kennedy Center. Runs every 15 minutes and picks you up from the Foggy Bottom metro and drops you off at the Kennedy Center. After the show, get on the shuttle and it will take you back to the Foggy Bottom metro. Plus, it’s free unlike what you would have to pay to park in their garage! It’s usually right there and if not, you don’t have to wait too long for the next one to come.

I love the Kennedy Center shuttle! It was so convenient and saved us from having to pay $ 20 for parking at the Kennedy Center. I took the shuttle on my way to see Moby Dick the Opera. It was a fast ride and I appreciate how the shuttle comes every 15 minutes.

I love the Kennedy Center Shuttle. I just moved to DC and the shuttle makes it so easy to attend shows at the Kennedy Center. I’ve never had to wait long for the shuttle in either direction. Also, the drivers and staff are all very nice. I wish all public transport in DC was so nice! They run throughout the day through midnight (except federal holidays).

I absolutely love the Kennedy Center Shuttle. I think there should be shuttles like this all over DC, especially important places that are not near a metro. I have used the shuttle at least 4 times over the past 3 years, and every time I use it I am satisfied. The drivers are nice and there is always at least one shuttle at the Foggy Bottom Metro. I have never had to wait long for any of the shuttles. The max I have waited was maybe 8 minutes at the actual Kennedy Center, and luckily there you can stand inside.
The Kennedy Center is fantastic, and although we should take more advantage of the wonderful free concerts, we appreciate the ones we have been to, especially on Christmas Day. Now that is dedication to the arts. If you are planning a visit to the Kennedy Center, I would highly recommend you using the free shuttle vans.

Rode the shuttle for the first time this past Friday. It was perfect. I got to the Kennedy Center faster than the rest of my family who drove. The shutter arrived exactly at 5:00pm and there were plenty of seats. Will definitely keep this option in mind the next time I am visiting the Kennedy Center.

With metro delays and general DC traffic, the last thing you want to deal with is getting to your show on time. Today my hubby and I were going to the Kennedy Center to watch The Book of Mormon (a must see!) but due to weekend track work on the metro we were of course running behind. We arrived at the Foggy Bottom metro at about 20 after (showtime was 1:30, yikes!). Although the Kennedy Center website says the shuttle runs every 15 minutes we rushed up the escalator on the slight chance a shuttle might still be there. Low and behold, it was really easy to spot because a shuttle was still there! Whew! Not only was there a shuttle about the depart, but there was one right behind it, yay! Nice air conditioned comfort! Thanks to the shuttle we were able to catch the show on time. Leaving the Kennedy Center was a breeze as well as there frequent shuttles heading back to the metro. What a wonderful free service! I will definitely use the shuttle next time we see a show at the Kennedy Center.

I’ve never thought to review it before, but now that I’m here, I’m happy to give the Shuttle an enthusiastic 5 stars.
As you emerge from the Foggy Bottom metro, the shuttle is almost always there waiting to ship you right over to the Kennedy Center (for free, as the other reviews have noted, though you can tip your driver). Even if you happen to just miss it, there will be another shuttle coming around in a matter of minutes. If you’re almost always late, like me, this service is a godsend. Coming back, you can face a bit of a wait to get on since usually an event has just ended and everyone has exactly the same idea. But the shuttles are smart, and there are usually a few lined up.
Also, the drivers are so, so nice. A few months ago, I left my umbrella on a shuttle. When I got back on at the Kennedy Center, I asked the driver about it; he asked around about it on his walkie talkie-​type device, and as it turns out, it had been left on another shuttle. I thought, well, that’s unfortunate, but that’s that. That was, however, not that at all. Both shuttles, upon approaching each other, stopped, and the drivers did an umbrella relay for me. It was incredibly nice and thoughtful — neither of them had to do that. And all of the drivers are just really courteous in general. I really don’t know what more you could ask for in a shuttle.

Why can’t everything be like the Kennedy Center Shuttle? This shuttle is conveniently located, speedy and most importantly FREE!
It’s the simplest thing to hop on from the foggy bottom metro and ride on over to the Kennedy Center saving yourself from the elements. The drivers are polite and your fellow passengers are either psyched to be heading to a show or satisfied after a show so the vibes are always great.

Why use my perfectly-​able limbs and walk 0.4 miles when I can be shuttled in comfort? It runs often enough that I don’t even have to be guilty to take a seat that would otherwise go to a senior citizen! This is great!

First of all it’s free. You can’t beat free.
Second of all on performance nights there is ALWAYS one waiting by the metro. One will not pull away before another one is waiting behind it. This is hugely appreciated especially in the wind, snow, and rain.
They have comfortable seats, they play nice classical music, and the drivers are nice.
Only drawback is after the performances you can be in for a wait and they cram you in big time. In nice weather I prefer to just walk to the metro.

How can you beat this fantastic service? A FREE, let me repeat, FREE shuttle service in a clean, comfortable, and climate controlled van with classical music playing in the background, I mean really, how can you beat this? Not only is the service free, but it is reliable and picks you up directly in front of the Foggy Bottom-​GWU metro entrance and literally drops you off at the doorstep of the Kennedy Center main entrance. No parking fees, no driving in DC traffic, no walking in the elements, no hassle whatsover. Done deal.

What else would you want, it’s FREE!
It can be a bit tricky if it’s a full bus and you are height challenged. If you are 5′ 4″ or shorter, the straps on the rails at the top make it a difficult ride.

Each and every time my boyfriend and I have been to the Kennedy Center, it has rained. No, correction, it has POURED.
Today was no exception. All afternoon it looked like it would rain. We thought we might escape the rain when we came in for the show. We thought we would be ok when we popped outside during intermission. Lo and behold, when our show ended, it was pouring. We stepped outside to warm up a little (AC was cranked high today.) Then, the greatest, most welcome thing was outside.
We saw a shuttle. Yay! We boarded the FREE shuttle and waited a few minutes before we took off for the GW Metro stop. Bf and I were the only ones on, and it was a quick ride over. I loved that this saved us from getting poured on and allowed us to return to a slightly more populated area.
Remember to take advantage of the shuttle between the GW Metro and the Kennedy Center. It’s a great alternative to parking, driving, and walking around late at night after shows.

I agree with the previous Unilocalers… this shuttle is super convenient and best of all FREE! Right after exiting the metro escalator there were two shuttles dropping off loads of people, so right after it emptied I hopped on. After the performance they had quite a few shuttles running, and even then the wait time was less than 15 minutes. Taking the shuttle is definitely better than paying $ 20 bucks to park at the KC for an event!

How can you give the Kennedy Center shuttle anything less than 5 stars? They do an excellent job of waiting at Foggy Bottom when trains are arriving so that show-​goers have a ride waiting when they surface in front of GW. The drivers are sweet and take extra care to help those with difficulties onto the vehicle. The Center runs extra shuttles after performances so that no one is waiting outside for very long.
Well-​coordinated, frequent, courteous, and free. Gets you to and from amazing shows. What more could you want?
