Intimate setting to see tennis, no bad seats. $ 2 beers and hot dogs. Tennis cheerleaders and guy on stilts make it.interesting. Not 5 stars bc the announcer excoriated the crowd to «make some noise» after every single point

Stadium is well sized for tennis but the seating is a little too cramped for a concert. I spent most of the time moving around trying to stretch my legs and other half of the time moving for other people to get to their seats. I’ll visit the venue again but will opt for seating on the front row next time.

Great place to see a concert (although they are rare). The venue is small enough where you feel very close to the stage. The bathrooms were ample. The seats were a little dirty and cramped, but I dealt with it. I wish tennis tickets were a little cheaper, as I love tennis and would love to see the Kastles. It’s just too pricey for my blood.

I had no idea what a Kastle was or what the WTT is, but a friend forcibly dragged me to a Kastles match against the team from Orange County and it was actually kind of fun!
The tennis is interesting and the stadium is well-​sized to allow fans to see the action. The staff is friendly and it’s well organized.
The reason I’m giving this place only two stars is because the concessions are the worst thing ever! I got a crab cake and french fries and it was $ 24. That’s highway robbery! Then, to make matters worse, the only beer they serve is Corona (because they’re a sponsor) and it’s $ 7.50 for a can of that swill. Additionally, the bartenders have apparently never tended bar before because it took 20 minutes to get a can of that crap. There was a line to order and then a line to pay, but then the cashier guy started asking people what they wanted to drink so nobody could pay. They also use those «square» iPhone accessories to process card payments and many of the cashiers were pretty far down the learning curve on those things so it took forever while they learned how to use it.
My advice is to eat or drink ahead of time and then come and enjoy the tennis. Also, the location is pretty far from transit but I didn’t feel unsafe walking back to the Waterfront metro stop, but then again, I’m pretty burly so much like anyone who took karate lessons at Jhoon Rhee years ago, nobody bothers me. (Nobody bothers me either, wink!)

I went here for the Livingsocial Food Truck and Beer Festival and had an AMAZING time. The venue was perfect. The festival was separated between the north and south sides of the tennis court. People were jam-​packed in, but the open air kept things from getting claustrophobic. If the heat started getting to us, the pier gave a nice breeze off the water just outside of the fence. They also had a concert going on on the tennis court which was perfect. I imagine for tennis matches, the scene is a little more mellow, but for wild day drinking/​festivals, I would come back to Kastles every time.

Came here for Kastles’ 1^st musical performance last night; Washington DC’s own Thievery Corporation performed here. Amazing!!! I had a blast.
I can’t tell you enough how fabulous the show was (as always); however, the venue was just okay and that’s what I’m reviewing here.
The location isn’t in the best part of DC (not a place I want to be walking around at night after the show) and it was an odd place for a concert in my opinion. I like the fact that the stadium is right on the water and there’s an underground parking garage. I get that it’s summer time and people want to be outside but this place was just a disappointment. I would come here for a tennis game but not another concert.
There aren’t restrooms or concessions (like at other sports venues). They had drink & food stands set up but there needed to be more of them! I saw Thievery @ Pier Six in Baltimore 2 years ago… way better outdoor venue for this sort of thing; there were lots of people at that show BUT I don’t remember waiting in lines for 30 minutes to get drinks/​eats and the setup was so much better.
I really think Kastles’ needs to make some improvements if they’re going to host future performance there. They need to install signs showing people where to park and they could offer more concession options so people aren’t wasting 30+ minutes waiting in lines.

What a concept! Team tennis. Saw McEnroe and Maria Hingis in a festive atmosphere with a glass of wine, food under the lights on the potomac. Definitely will repeat

I’ve been to the US Open more times than I can count, and hit up the smaller tournaments to see some stars as well. But Kastles Stadium takes the prize.
Tell me if this sounds like a tennis match you’ve ever been to… Rap, rock and 80’s music during the match; a guy on stilts revving up the crowd; two giant tennis ball mascots running in between the stands, sometimes tackling the players; and things other than signed tennis balls getting tossed into the crowd, like burritos, and t-​shirts.
A tennis center two blocks away from Metro Center. Bliss! There is no
’shushing’ at this stadium. In fact, they’re ALWAYS trying to get the crowd going — in between matches, in between games, in between POINTS — and sometimes during the points.
Oh and most of the time there’s more than one superstar on the court. i.e. Hingis, Venus, Serena, McEnroe… the list goes on.
Awesome venue, awesome music, this is NOT your typical tennis stadium.

What an interesting experience overall.
Firstly, what stands as a gigantic parking lot 11 months out of the year is magically transformed into a mini «stadium» that holds a real stadium environment. Cheerleaders, weird announcer guy on stilts, loud speakers booming hip hop music and Charge! chants, tennis ball mascots, and even a gigantic TV screen for replays and quirky break-​time videos.
What sucks about this place is that they open up when every other sport is down. The hottest, sweatiest, muggiest time to be outdoors in DC. So, it makes for a slightly uncomfortable if not unbearable evening outside to watch a game.
Nonetheless, it’s still a fun outdoor activity, and you get to see some good tennis played in a very unique way. The scoring is different, clearly the ambiance is different, and the courts are multi-​colored.
Don’t expect to see U.S. Open quality tennis here. The players are clearly here to have fun, and not hurt themselves. But, it’s still a great opportunity to see some good tennis right here in DC.

My first Unilocal Event and not only do I get free tickets to a Tennis Match & great company but also got a free Chipotle card! I got there early so there was no «Top Spin» greeting me at the gate with a rule sheet. Thankfully Jeff W actually plays tennis and was able to explain things to us. Once the rules are understood it’s relatively easy to follow along. I believe they also explained the rules at the beginning but SOMEONE was a lil’ drunk and was asking all kinds of questions including the rules so we missed the official explanation. Kevin L soooo can’t tolerate beer cause after half a bottle of Coors LIGHT he’s was already off in la-​la land, talk about a light weight: P
This is NOT a somber event & they want you cheering on the home team players… although it helps if you shout out their correct name… especially when it’s quiet… which would not be Moisha (or what ever Jeff W called her :-P) If you get a chance to check them out it’s a good time and it’s even better if you have a group of people go. We won the Chipotle coupons during one of the between game match activities. Kids under 16 can get autographs after the game and get free choice if they catch one of the fly balls.
We were up in the «cheap» seats and you could see the whole court without having to turn your head side to side (which really is funny to see in person). There really isn’t a bad view in the place and this a great place for family entertainment. There’s always something going on (in the stands, during the match, on the sidelines, etc) so even an ADD child will be entertained.
oh… for those of you that didn’t know, the Washington Kastles are our Tennis Team. Yes DC has a professional tennis team who’s mascot is named Top Spin after an online competition. He’s a giant walking tennis ball with a cape a «droopy» eyes.

Who could have imagined that the Washington Kastles would have been such a fun experience? Not me! I had a blast! I would like to think of it as a combination of Wimbeldon (i mean it was tennis) and a Wizards basketball game! They had cheerleaders to get us in the match/​game/​set/​whatever it is called and some really cool announcers.
The match ended up being really exciting… it did a take a while to understand the rules (especially with sports clueless Kevin: P) But thank goodness that Top Spin (the mascot) handed out rules sheets before the match.
Overall definitely something unexpected. I mean what can you expect from a tennis stadium built in a parking lot in the middle of DC that serves $ 2 Coors Light? Expect a really good time!

Ma-​Ma-​Ma-​Shooooo-​Na! Woooo! Who would have thought that free tix to a tennis match would be so ridiculously wild and fun?
I think I was a little hoarse at the end of the Kastles match last night — or is a game? Or a set? Tennis has so much random lingo, it’s kind of hard to keep track of what’s what. At least I didn’t have to translate from «love» and «deuce» to English — the simple point system was really accessible to even someone as sports-​illiterate as I am!
Aaaaanyway, hoarse. Yeah. I don’t think I’ve cheered that much since the last time I watched a really great Northwestern football game. And that was awhile ago. Sadness. But we weren’t the only ones cheering — the crowd was having a great time. The announcers and mic jockeys were great at riling up the fans, and the cheerleaders (who apparently have day jobs… I asked one of one!) were busy pom-​poming away. At one point, we were doing the wave, and during halftime (do normal tennis matches have halftime?) there was a Wii tennis match, a dance show, and a contest where our entire side of the stands won free Chipotle coupons!
I’m pretty sure that this isn’t like any other kind of tennis match out there. When I watch the Wimbledon on TV, it looks so somber, with lots of golf clapping and wine-​sipping. Not here! At one point, I realized I could have five beers for only $ 10 and went to town. Halfway through my first Coors Light, I realized that five beers was probably 1) a bad idea and 2) not going to happen before I passed out. Good times all around!
Between the fun of the sport, the intimate design of the stadium where there’s not a bad seat in the house, the trashy female fans with their boobies almost hanging out, the cheap alcohol, and our own wild Unilocaler crowd, we had a phenomenal time.
