Nice lil spot… jumpin, without being overly crowded. DJ played classic rap/hip-hop, with some sparse new age rap/hip-hop. Drinks were on point & pricing in line with U St. corridor. Contemporary décor is a nice touch; loved the ample seating area. All the reviews make me want to go back to try the food & hopefully make happy hour.

Literally my favorite spot in DC. The best service, relaxed environment, and original drinks. A MUST try!

I thought the lounge was nice. Really good seating. Perfect place to enjoy drinks with friends. Happy hour is until ten.

I like Jin, i’m a mid 30s gal who enjoys going out but doesn’t like going out to clubs, or going to places that are overly crowded. Jin is the perfect place for that and my number one go to. I recommend it. Cool for dates too.

The music is okay and the service is horrible. I am a frequent bar hopper and I had a pretty bad experience at Jin. This is DC/U street. I didn’t expect this.

Love this place! My friends and I went for part two of our happy hour on a Friday after work. The drinks were awesome. Excellent service. It was empty but that was fine, I’d rather it not be overcrowded and hot. I can’t wait to go back.

Went here for happy hour with some friends and it was not what we were expecting. It was misleading to say«Asian Fusion/Korean» as their categories. It was dark and the music was too chill to enjoy. The drinks were good but the appetizers were too little in quantity to actually enjoy.

I’m a regular at Jin and I can say it is always empty unless they’re hosting an event. I actually don’t mind that it’s empty… feels like our own little secret. They do party on Saturday nights like the other bars in the area and play a good mix of music. I normally go for their happy hour. I just went there a few days ago and noticed they changed the happy hour menu to include higher priced options. They also changed their drinks. The jerk wings are always good(close competition to park at 14th) and their spring rolls are good. I wasn’t feeling the drink switch. My rum punch was really good but I couldn’t taste the alcohol. My friend ordered their spicy drink and it wasn’t good. We usually just ordered the different flavors of martinis and mojitos but they’re no longer an option. I don’t recommend their shrimp tacos. Wasn’t enough flavor and the shrimp was charred. They get four stars from me because it’s always real chill and comfortable there, they have good happy hour specials and it ends at eight… later than other bars I’ve been to and the wings are really good. I can do without the menu change though…

This place is very nice inside! Clearly it is a diamond in the rough! We went to celebrate my birthday after my first choice on U Street was a complete dud! The guy at the door said that they were playing hip hop and r & b as well as reggae! I am NOT a fan of reggae music at all! However, there was no cover and the place was gorgeous so we went in! It was very empty inside! There were people dancing inside, but not very many! The dj was a reggae dj come to find out so there wasn’t a lot of hip hop being placed! However, this place was very nice and has true potential! I wouldn’t mind coming back at all on a night where the musical choice was different!

Went here on a Friday night to celebrate my BFF’s birthday. Although this was her second choice, it ended up being a real diamond in the rough. No fancy signs outside of the establishment, no long line to get in, no cover charge and really if it weren’t for my friend setting up shop here before I arrived, I would’ve never given it a second look. As I entered I noticed the cool seating areas on both sides of the room, the bar that was set up towards the back of the room and a dj parched on the balcony. Even though the lights were dimly lit, I was able to see all of this so clearly because it was completely dead! Only 2 people were on the dance floor at this point. Including the 4 people that I was with and the few staff members I saw, Jin had a total of probably 20 people… if that. A few were at the bar, a couple were dancing and the others were seated. It actually seems like a very cool spot to have a private party or go with an entire group of people. I didn’t have to worry about my heels hurting my feet at this place because it was plenty of vacant seats. For the life of me I can’t understand why their weren’t more lounge-goer’s. Especially since Marvin’s and a few other lounges down from Jin seemed to be packed with customers. The vibe was the typical DC lounge feel, with a cool and smooth appearance. The temperature was nowhere near cool though, because the heat was pumping. It was cold out that night, but it felt like the heat was on 100! When I entered, the dj was playing some pretty good old school music and up to date music. He switched it up a bit throughout, but kept going back to reggae. I like reggae music, but I don’t want to hear it for a long period of time and he was over doing it by playing extra long sets of it. The drink that I had was pretty strong, but a bit pricey. The age ranges differed from 30’s to late 40’s and I only saw a few men. Not sure how they can stay open with such a lack of customers, but I could definitely see me here again to take over the dance floor. Cool Spot!

I just cannot get a handle on this place. It has been in the area for years(as the bartender claims), but it was completely empty on a Friday night. There is a dress code(no boots or sneakers in addition to other things), and for the modern décor, it makes sense. What doesn’t make sense is how other places nearby are super crowded but this one is not. The space is decent, and there are comfortable couches to sit on. The music was alright. I also came for happy hour, and again, it was sparse! No one in sight. The food was tasty(chicken empanadas and dumplings) as were the drinks. Everything was pretty good, so I don’t know why people don’t frequent it. The bartenders were nice, and the vibe was calm and cool. Bottom line: I wish this place would be more popular with people. It has potential.

I’ve been to Jin twice in the last week — the first time was for an artist’s happy hour and the second time was for an art fundraiser. I can’t stop thanking the owner enough for catching my back on the second trip and making sure I didn’t get a ticket(the sign for parking says 6:30 but the meter says TEN!!! Very sneaky, DC … and since you cannot park at the Reeves Center till 6:30 as I was told by the guard there… … anyway) My first trip there saw me with a Peach Martini in hand. The drink was AMAZING — the DJ rocked it out. My second trip there was food involved, the jerk wings and the glazed ribs. WWWOOO. delicious. The servers and staff here are very personable(which can make or break a place, IMO) and when I was there the first time and it was crowded the drink wait wasn’t long. I dig the vibe in this spot and would go back to hang out often(this is a lot for me to say especially since I’ve been out of the club scene for years and don’t go out much).

In my opinion, Jin has the best happy hour deals on U Street. I’ve been going there for years! Unfortunately, it seems that their quality of food has declined very recently. All of their food is always served lukewarm — I like my food piping hot as if it just came off the stove. However, they have the fantastic mojitos and drink specials.

I went to Jin for Happy Hour on yesterday and I can definitely say I’ll be back. It was a random Tuesday afternoon so I’m guessing that’s why there was hardly anyone in the place. The ambiance is very low-key comfortable-My kind of lounge. They have a pretty cheap Happy Hour selection. I tried the Mango Mojito and didn’t really care too much for it but I loved the Peach Martini. I ordered several of the small plates-Korean Spring Rolls, Wings, and Bahamian Glazed Baby Back Ribs– All very delicious. All in all, this place was a Happy Hour HIT!

I think this place has to be one of the coolest little places that people sleep on. The happy hour is great! Who doesnt like a happy hour that ends at 8 pm every weekday?! The conch fritters and jerk wings are everyone’s favorite. I no longer eat chicken, but prior to 2011 my crew and I would come here just for the wings. Ill be honest, the weekend night time scene here is hit or miss. But its a free spot that will give a decent time esp when its packed. They tend to have a lot of private parties here on the weekends so beware you may be turned away occasionally.

Differently one of those intimate lo-key lounges with the right dj it can be a night to remember. Drinks and bartenders could use a update but other then that its a good place. Give it 2.5−3.

Jin is the perfect spot for people who are over the club scene, but still want to get out with friends to have a few drinks and dance a little. I used to go years ago and then for some reason Jin fell of my radar. I went again last weekend with a girlfriend for a low-key night. We got there before 12am and it was pretty dead, which was perfect because we sat at the bar and caught up on things over drinks. Before we knew it, the place was getting packed(but not too packed) and the party was getting started. The good thing about Jin is that anyone will feel comfortable there. If you want to dress up to the nines, fine, you’ll fit in. If you opt to be more casual with jean, fine, you’ll fit in, too. The music is good, the crowd is good, and the drinks seemed cheaper than normal to me. There was no line when we got there, of course, but the bouncers at the door were nice and professional. We will definitely be back.

Jin is a decent little spot right off of U Street. I went on a random Thursday after doing happy hour somewhere else. I believe it must have been old head night because the majority of the crowd appeared to be in their 40’s and 50’s. I talked to one guy who said he graduated from college in 1988, so yeah you do the math on that. Even though it was an older crowd, the place was still moving. The DJ played mainly older jams but that is okay with me, I enjoy 80’s and 90’s hip hop and r and b so that was no problem. The place has a decent set up, there is only one bar downstairs but there are several tables and couches that you can lounge on a first come first serve basis. There are random TVs throughout the place that were randomly showing The Matrix during my trip. Bathrooms are cool, individually little rooms for each toilet with a communal sink. Best part about my latest trip to Jin was the bartender, Saige, she did her thing making the drinks, all were strong and made lovely. She was also friendly and inviting, I appreciate a bartender making you feel welcome in an establishment. Jin is a cool little spot to check out if you’re near U street, normally there is no cover and the dress is casual. I’d recommend giving it a shot, especially if Saige is pouring the drinks.

My work had our holiday party here, which was perfect for our size of roughly 100 people. They let us DJ the event and had decent appetizer food — the highlight being the slightly spicy conch fritters. Bartenders are cool, willing to recommend a good drink. I was super surprised that they don’t offer happy hour on MONDAYS — what?! And of course we had the party on a Monday so we were shelling out $ 10 per mixed drink… a little steep considering the atmosphere, IMHO.
