Description

Specialties

Intown Playgroup is a licensed, cooperative playgroup which children attend with an adult. We enroll one– and two-year old children who gather for part of their day in the large, open playroom, socializing with and learning from one another.

History

Established in 1975.

For over 35 years Intown Playgroup has been part of the Georgetown community in Washington, DC, gratefully housed in the historic Mount Zion Methodist Church.

Our program introduces children to the bigger world of social experiences, nurturing them in the stage between playing at home & going off to school by themselves. Our full-time Director & her staff create a curriculum, balancing free-play and directed activities, that provides structure within which the children’s creativity & imaginations can blossom.

As a cooperative, parents are an essential part of our community. A parent or caregiver accompanies each child during their school day, playing alongside them. Parents also volunteer their time to serve on the Board of Directors & participate in other special events. Intown playgroup is a licensed, non-profit 510c (3) corporation that is financially supported through tuition payments & run by the Board of Directors & staff.
