Best cappuccino in town! Cozy space and friendly staff. Great for breakfast. It is the perfect place to sip a coffee, read a book, and get some work done(wifi works just fine). It’s a bummer that it only opens on weekends(until 3pm)!

Best coffee in Mount Pleasant! Really nice vibe — you don’t sense that you are in a basement. Their pastries and meat pies are really good as well, and they serve beer.

While visiting DC we were looking for a pub or coffee shop that would be showing Premier League soccer on Sunday morning. The game was at 8:30AM and few places would be open at that hour. On Saturday we tried phoning several pubs with no luck. Then, after visiting the marvelous Mount Pleasant Farmers Market that day, we came upon Habit. This coffee shop is a real treasure. Drew, the owner, is warm and welcoming, as is the rest of the staff. He told us that they open at 9 on Sundays but we could come early and he would have the game on just for us. That would have been enough for us to recommend them, but that was just the beginning. Their coffee and tea are outstanding and the Australian pies are out of this world! We’ll go out of our way to return here every time we visit. It’s well worth the trip.

The pies are great, and I highly recommend their cold brewed coffee. The owner/manager is an Aussie, so you can expect to see Southern Hemisphere rugby playing in the background on weekend mornings — that alone is worth the five star review!

Popped in today about 30 min before closing. The setup is really nice and prices aren’t bad. The bacon, egg and cheese pie was delicious! SCORE!!! The mint tea was tasty and we also picked up a Ube Loaf(haven’t tried it yet). It is a little off the map since they don’t have a huge sign outside. Talked to the guy behind the counter who I am assuming is the owner and unfortunately they aren’t open during the week right now but hopefully they will be open during the week once the weather is a little cooler. Shame because I know a few folks who would stop in before work. I hope business picks up because this place is a gem!

We were directed to come here for desserts after having brunch from upstairs, the manager was kind enough to lead us here plus the toilet I guess was shared among the other restaurants. We had some iced coffee, latte and ube cupcake. The cupcake was awesome. The coffee ok. Don’t know if they have wi-fi.

LOVE this place. So good on a late drunken night, but equally as delicious when sober too. I live in Northern VA for now and come to this place when I’m back in DC. The staff are so friendly and helpful. This last time I tried the sides for the first time and DAMN. They’re just as good as the pies. Highly recommend this place whether you’re in the area or not!

Very reasonably priced, friendly and low-key coffee shop tucked away in the english basement of a restaurant. The coffee shop has a slightly bohemian vibe. Since the coffee shop is new, I think it still a little unknown which adds to its appeal. I like that they do not blare loud music like other coffee shops in DC, so you can easily talk, study or do whatever you came to do. The barista/servers go out of their way to please. I will definitely be coming back.

I’ve spent a lot of time at this hidden gem in Mt. Pleasant over the past few weeks. The people are incredibly friendly and the food/coffee is delicious. The pies are worth every cent — they are fresh, yummy, and perfect for breakfast or a snack. As for drinks, I can recommend the cold brew iced coffee, which at $ 3.50 is only a quarter more than the Starbucks version. Also, the hot coffee is high quality. The Pelicano is good, but not my favorite. My only real complaint is that I wish the place had more outlets to plug in when studying. Habit is definitely worth a visit. It won’t be long before it’s featured on Thrillist or whatever on some kind of best coffee shops list, and you’ll be glad you made it there before it got crazy popular(a la Flying Fish).

Just paid 10.50 for an iced coffee and a beef«pie» that takes two bites to eat. No thank you!

Cute little coffee shop downstairs in the space that used to be Last Exit. It’s owned by the same people as Purple Patch in the same building. They serve Australian hand pies for breakfast and lunch. I got the egg and cheese and it’s very good: hot and just a little spicy.(Unfortunately a lot of the flaky crust stuck to the inside of the foil tin. I hope they can figure out how to avoid that, since it made the extraction process a bit messy and frustrating.) The mint green iced tea is good enough on its own that I didn’t need to add simple syrup. They also have cold brewed iced coffee and a good mix of seating, both couches and high/low tables. I could definitely see getting some work done here. Note that they close mid-afternoon.
