I think the name has changed to Dupont Pizza. Anyway, this is the only place in DC I’ve found that does a decent slice. Crispy crust, light on the sauce, heavy on the cheese, good flavor. Staff is friendly. No credit card minimum; open late.

This is a good place as far as by-the-slice pizza goes. I wonder if the Unilocalers comparing it to jumbo slice have actually been to a jumbo slice, because I was expecting bigger based on reviews but the slices are still extra oversized, just not comically so. The slice I had was less greasy than most other places I’ve been to and they didn’t skimp on the cheese. Nice! I get that it’s more of a late night place but I wish they were open in the afternoon, the hours are pretty restrictive.

Pretty good pizza. They got the dough and cheese right. The dough is not too thin so that it is crispy and not too thick so you feel like you are eating a slice of bread. The cheese is soft and gooey, but does not all slide off on your first bit. However, they need to work on their sauce. Can barely taste it. Like others have said, their jumbo slice is really just two slices, both in size and cost. Eh, someone figured out that selling bulk makes pizza profitable. Oh well. I would suggest not charging $ 1 for a can of soda though.

This place is terrible. Their«jumbo» slice is really a sneaky way to sell 2 slices at once, they cut it in half and it costs the same as 2 slices anywhere else. We just wanted 3 slices and ended up with $ 20 dollar pie, lame. The pizza is not good either, but I’m used to NYC pizza and it’s a late night place so it’s expected. Never again.

If you’re out late, whether for pleasure or for work, this place is the place to be. Possibly one of the best tasting pizza I’ve had in DC. Giant thin crust slices(¼ of the entire pie) for $ 5 ?! I had two. Pepperoni and Cheese, you can never go wrong with the originals. It was actual heaven. A definite must try if you’re craving late night pizza!

The quarter-of-a-large-pizza-pie sized slices pack just enough gluttony to top off a belly full of beer without the greasy guilt that comes with the Jumbo Slice. Clean and quiet and filled with ample seating, this drunkard’s haven is where you go to get it done, to ravenously eat your weight’s worth after a night of alcohol indulgence in Dupont. $ 5 a slice seems steep, even for DC, but they’re literally one-quarter of a pizza. And in the condition people stumble into this place, they’re in no mindset to assess the cost. On the Friday night I ended up here, skinny blondes held their own among retired frat boys, but everyone was behaved and silent as they chugged their bottles of water and scarfed down their pieces of pepperoni. Although it would be far less exciting, I would eat here in the daytime, sober, because it’s good enough. Despite my appreciation for this location, it has nothing on the little pizza and ice cream shop that shares its name across the river. With some gentle prodding, we discovered the Goody’s in Dupont is owned by the nephew of the Greek couple that owns the Goody’s in Clarendon. With a forced nonchalance, the owner of the Virginia location said she was unsure how the DC eatery was doing and that she’d heard through the grapevine that they might sell — sounded like family fallout. Hopefully both locations continue to prosper, ‘cus Goody’s is good.

Good pizza is so subjective. I’ve been on a quest to find NYC style or what I call Philly style(similar to NYC but not the same) in DC. I agree this is not NYC style pizza. But it’s the closest I’ve found in DC to what I grew up with in Philly. The crust is tasty, right thickness, foldable. I also like the spices(assuming oregano) they put in the cheese and sauce and it has the right amount of sauce. It didn’t get 5 stars because they don’t put enough cheese on it IMO. But get it with extra cheese and it’ll be perfect. The price is right and better pizza than downstairs. There’s a couple of places up in Columbia Heights I just heard about that I want to try. Until then, Goody’s is the place.

Goody’s WAS my favorite pizza place in DC. I used to love going in on Friday or Saturday nights and chatting with Angelina, the woman behind the counter. But I was out of town for a few weeks and when I went in tonight it was a totally different experience. I was met by new people and a new Goody’s. I don’t know what happened, but it is not nearly as good as it was. If anyone knows what happened to Angelina please let me know. I used to never go to Alberto’s in favor of Goody’s friendly atmosphere and delicious pizza. But if Angelina is gone and this is the new Goody’s, I’m heading back to Alberto’s

Low key neighborhood ready made pizza place with huge slices and a lively owner. Been in several times at different times of the day without any problems. Haven’t heard anything about rats at all and don’t think the owner is obnoxious. I think the enthusiasm she has for her pizza is refreshing. I think the hourly workers at chain establishments couldn’t care less about the meals they are providing. Great for a late night snack or quick fix after class. Very easily accessible. They also have TVs which are nice to pass the time which munching.

disgusting 4 am pizza. The disgust was not only the pizza but also the gross owner who kept yelling every 2 minutes about how her pizza was the best and the store didn’t have any rats. Very unappetizing. and honestly, the pizza is gross — and NOTHINGLIKENYCPIZZA, for the reviewers that said that.crazy.

EDIT: The establishment has changed ownership and with it has come a severe decline in quality and customer service. I went in here with my visiting parents three months ago and the guy behind the counter was cordial and was able to get us exactly what we wanted at a very reasonable price. The pizza was still as I had remembered it when the place just opened. Flash forward to last weekend(April 25th) when I had just finished a run. I went into Goody’s and attempted to order the same kind of pizza I ordered with my parents: no cheese, just dough and sauce(my mother’s a vegan, you see). The guy was confused. «Maybe you went to another pizza place, b/c we don’t serve that here.» «Yes you do,» I confusedly replied, «I ordered it a couple of months ago.» The guy was adamant: «No, we don’t serve that here, it was probably Pizza Paradiso.» I was frustrated. Okay, well, can you make me the pizza for me without cheese? «No, we can’t do that either.» «You can’t make my pizza without cheese?» «No, we put the cheese in the sauce and I’d have to charge you the same price.» I was fed up. «Okay, thanks,» and left. They do not have posted business hours, the(new?) owners are rude and impolite, and they have no idea how to run a pizza place anymore. Although it’s the best pizza place in the area, I won’t be going here anymore. Take the advice of the employee behind the counter and go to Pizza Paradiso instead. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — – «We got the best pizza in Dupont… and we don’t have RATS!» Such was the cry of the overly-friendly(and, for what’s it’s worth, overly-obese) part-owner of Goody’s eatery that attracted a hungry me into that establishment at 1 in the morning. I had just finished watching Inglorious Basterds and the gratuitous bludgeoning of Nazis left me with a hearty appetite. I was only three blocks from home, but the peculiar evocation spouting from the jovial woman in front was enough to intrigue me into heading inside. Two customers were on their way out and, somehow sensing that I had never been here before, remarked, «She’s right, this pizza is so much better than downstairs.» I smiled and thanked them and then reasoned with her: «Hi… okay, so, I’m from New York and I’ve yet to find pizza inside the District that is as good as pizza back home.» «Honey,» she said, «I’m from Brooklyn, trust me, I know good pizza.» I couldn’t argue with that logic. «Okay,» I said, «give me one slice.» This woman, she seemed so happy to cut up the whole pie she just took out of the oven. She told me that it was $ 4, but before I could object, she cut the pie into four huge pieces and gave me one. I spent $ 4 on a quarter of a large pie. I think that was fair. After I paid, she asked me to try my pizza in the store and let her know how it was… whether it was because it was 1AM and she just wanted someone to talk to or because she was legitimately concerned with what I thought, I couldn’t ascertain. Regardless, I took a bite and was pretty impressed… it didn’t taste EXACTLY like NY pizza — after all, nothing does — but it was damn near close(and definitely waaayyyy better than the slightly-less-expensive Elio’s frozen pizza knock-offs downstairs). A couple of things: — The woman who runs the place is very nice, but her catcalls can get pretty tired if you’re standing in the store waiting for your pizza. «We don’t have any rats» is funny the first couple of times, but if she gets punchy late at night, the phrase can be repeated up to 10 times in 3 minutes. — You will be getting two normal-sized slices of pizza unless you ask for it not to be cut. My suggestion is to slice it in half, that huge slice cannot be cleanly conquered by any man. — Tell your friends. Seriously. The woman told me that she relies on word of mouth because they don’t have enough money to do local advertisements in small papers. «Every week is getting better» she told me two weeks ago and I want to make sure that remains the case weeks from now. If you like quality pizza… buy here, eat here, and spread the word.

Extremely rude and racist. Couldn’t believe what I saw and heard. Some of the staff members serving the pizzas were extremely rude and made explicit, completely unprovoked, clearly RACIST statements against certain people in front of their customers! Unbelievable that they think they can get away with it. I am never going to this place again, and urge everyone to do the same — take the high road and make them realize that there is no place for racism here in this neighborhood, this city and this country. And the best way for anyone to peacefully, rightfully protest against a business is by taking their business away.

Really marginal pizza by the slice. More expensive than Alberto’s. Only reason to come here is if you want a slice and find Alberto’s too greasy(I do). That said, I rarely just want one slice and its within a block of Pizza Paradiso. Thus, there is very little reason for this place to exist. NOTE: THEYDONOTDELIVER. Period. I do not understand how people have voted that they do when they do not. Yes, their website has a dead link to an external third party delivery site that does not exist. But if you call them, they will not deliver.

What’s a girl to do when she is hungry on Christmas eve and doesn’t want Chinese food? Not only was Goody’s open but they were giving free pizza and drinks to Police officers. Staff was very friendly and my pizza — white veggie was quite tasty. I would definitely go back!

My BBQ beef sandwich was actually pretty tasty, considering. However, I won’t be back because I just don’t enjoy being harassed by douchebags while I wait. I enjoy it even less when the staff encourages said douchebags to continue harassing their already irritated customer.

Their pizza is good if you like a thin crust, but the main draw for me are their sandwiches. I have never had a more loaded sandwich than one from Goody’s. Seriously, they put so much meat in here that it sometimes gets hard to eat. The first time I had one of them, I was completely taken aback by how generous they were with the roast beef. The bread is nothing exciting. If it’s a late night haunt you’re looking for, or even just a quick binge meal, get a sandwich here and you’ll be full. Consider it the antithesis to a Cosi sandwich. Gorge yourself!

It was a late nite out and they were open, the Plates telling a lil DC history caught my attention, so we stopped in after that other pizza place nearby was outta pies and wouldn’t make anymore… They made a pizza on the spot with the toppings of my choice, the service was friendly and fast, and the kida family-run feel appealed to me. The pizzas were mediocre, but on par with what i’d expect to get after 12am. greasy but filling enuff to soak up a nite of gin and tonics. at least i went to bed semi-satisfied…

Forget the epilepsy-inducing lights of Jumbo Slice, if you’re in the AM/Dupont area, head here for your late night pizza jones. Staff was friendly and even apologetic when I was told to wait for a new pizza to come out of the oven. I subsisted on a decent chocolate chocolate-chip cookie while I waited. Pizza was good, I think? The place is well-lit and has several sets of tables to plop down into, which is much appreciated after a night of standing around. Great people watching too as you sit and enjoy your slice. Added bonus: The floor is just smooth and slick enough to aid you in your impromptu dance-offs with random strangers. Check one in the victory column for Jim.

All I have to say, is thank goodness this place had take-out menus, otherwise, I might have completely forgot that I went here on Saturday night. I remember it being greasy, huge, and delicious, but that could be the rum and cokes from my previous location talking. And, it’s always a plus to find a place that gives you an opportunity to have a conversation with a guy in a stained leisure suit. So if you find yourself at the Big Hunt, Front Page, etc., and you don’t think you can wait to get home to throw in some pizza bites, just head here.

Although they’re known for serving pizza, I’ve only ever had their sandwiches and salads. I’ve been really happy with what I’ve gotten, with exception to the cost. Don’t let the blaring music, and DC license plates on the wall trick you into thinking this is an inexpensive place to eat. It is under $ 10 a person, but I can think of a couple of other places on the same street that leave you feeling like you didn’t splurge on lunch. I don’t have a menu in front of me, but I seem to recall spending about $ 10 for a salad, and $ 8 for a sandwich. The people who work there are nice, and seem grateful for your business(it appears to be family run), and they make it very clear that refills on soda are free, which isn’t so much the case in this area.
